Coin’s Edge: Reincarnated as a Extra

Chapter 36: No one can touch you

"W-What do you mean?" Violet stammered, glancing at Hector with a glare.

Sigh.

Hector pulled off his shirt, revealing layers of toned muscle, and wrung it tightly, removing the red stains.

"Why are you here?" he asked, his voice calm. The voice was different from before.

Well… everything had already happened. He couldn't change it. Pouring his anger into a kid barely changed for him right now.

Looking at Hector's firm body, she felt a bit embarrassed as she remembered the scene of hugging him before. And, a dirty thought appeared in her mind as she wanted to hug it again.

She wanted to enjoy that new feeling again.

Yet, she quickly shook her head, clearing all of them, and glanced in another direction while speaking, her tone unpleasant and awkward.

"I-I want to… help you!"

"Huh? Help? Why would you help me? I don't need assistance from a brat." Hector shot her an annoyed look.

Violet's frustration boiled over. She had saved him, and yet he scolded her for it. Few people dared speak to her so rudely, and she felt a pang of confusion. Still, there was something she had to say.

"I'M SORRY, AND THANK YOU SO MUCH!"

That was all she wanted to say—but she couldn't bring herself to say it while staring at Hector's damn face.

Instead, she gritted her teeth in anger without doing anything else.

Several seconds of silence stretched between them.

Eventually, Hector spoke, his voice tired. "I don't need anything from you."

He knew Violet had come to repay him for saving her. She had tried to help—but somehow, everything had gone wrong.

Then he walked past her, Violet frozen in confusion, his gaze cold and dead. "I suppose this counts as help… so we don't owe each other anything. Don't come near me again, fucking brat!"

He cursed deliberately, expecting she would leave him alone after that. Things only got messy when girls like Violet stuck around him. He knew this well—he had lived it in his old world. All of mankind had hated him, and in this world, the high-status people would kill him.

But everything became more complicated after he said those words.

Three days later…

Snap.

Snap.

Snap.

Sigh.

"What are you doing here?" Hector sighed, pausing his reading and shifting his gaze toward Violet.

Violet sat on the wooden chair beside him, eyes bright with excitement as she looked at his book.

"What kind of book are you reading?" she asked, genuinely interested.

Hector sighed again, pressing his eyelids lightly, tired. He leaned back in his chair, glancing around at everyone in the library.

"This is bad," he muttered under his breath.

A lot of eyes were on him.

He had become the center of everyone's attention. Of course, the culprit was Violet, relentlessly pestering him for three days ever since he had cursed her.

"Hey! Why aren't you answering me?"

Hector grimaced, clenching his teeth as he glanced at her. "What the hell do you want?"

In contrast, Violet curled her lips into a sly smile. "Don't worry… you're my underling now, so no one can touch you."

Hector's eyes narrowed. "What the fuck? Since when did I become your underling? Did I ever agree to that?"

"You don't have a choice… because I want you. Besides, no one dares to touch you because of our… relationship."

"Even if those idiots keep gossiping about us being a couple, I don't mind… the more they believe it, the less likely they'll try to hurt you. You can use this fake-couple thing to your advantage."

"See? I'm very kind."

"I'm not a brat!" Violet puffed out her chest proudly, crossing her arms.

"You're still just a kid inside…" Hector muttered, bored. He leaned back and asked again.

"So… what if I don't side with you at some point? How will you protect me then?"

"Huh? Of course, I'll always be by your side!" Violet answered, her tone firm and confident.

Sigh.

"You're still too naive…" Hector muttered, returning to the book Derek had given him earlier, ignoring Violet, who fumed silently.

Time passed quickly like that.

Night came.

It was around 11 p.m

"Why are you following me?"

Tap.

"Go back to your room now!"

"No! I'm staying with you!"

Sigh.

"Do whatever you want…"

Everything just happened like that until Hector arrived at his humble room, and, finally, he began to realize that brat really did that.

"What the fuck? You're seriously sleeping in my room?"

"Yep! Didn't I tell you before?" Hector furrowed his brows and pointed at the sofa, irritation flickering in his eyes. "You'll sleep there."

A smirk tugged at his lips. You won't last long… I'm sure of it. Normally, he wouldn't allow anyone into his room. But Violet was different. To him, she seemed innocent… like the kids he had treated at the hospital for years. He had dealt with countless children and teenagers, and Violet was no exception. She would eventually give up—just like all the others.

More importantly, he should have gotten in her way because that just made her more and more doing it.

All kids abandoned their toys once they grew bored.

Finally, Hector shook his head in exhaustion.

"Finally… I can rest."

He lay down on his bed, sinking into deep sleep. When he woke, all he wished for was for Violet to vanish.

Looking back, he realized she was the root of all his troubles—an unpredictable variable he could never fully grasp.

For the first time, he wondered whether saving her had been a mistake. Maybe… Holding the lucky coin in his right hand, he stared at it while resting his head on the soft pillow.

"Why did you want me to save her? You led me to that mysterious basement…"

"Is she meant to help me somehow?" Yet the ancient coin offered no answer.

It merely shimmered with an eerie, otherworldly glow. If this coin truly brought him luck, then everything that had happened must have a reason. Perhaps Violet herself was a stroke of fortune—an outcome he had never expected. Or maybe she was the least cursed thing the coin had given him.

He had no answers.

Yet he chose to trust the coin. After all, it had once belonged to a villain who had survived to the very end—a man blessed by the god of fortune.
