Coin’s Edge: Reincarnated as a Extra

Chapter 101: Art of the booms

''Who are… you?''

Jeff roared, his whole body transforming into a lion man, nearly 3 meters tall with sharp claws. But his right arm still stayed the same, dangling like some useless decoration.

His face twisted with anger as he glared at Tyrone, then glanced at his comrade, who still looked confused.

Right away, Aileen and Houle readied themselves for a fight, backing up Jeff.

''Tsk. He's got a skill coin similar to mine. That explains how he reacted like that.'' Tyrone stared at Jeff, sizing him up.

Hector just nodded, his eyes wandering off as usual.

''Hey! You little rats! Who the hell are you? Deaf or what?'' Aileen shouted, glaring at Hector's team, her stance coiled tight like a snake.

''I'm sorry, Jeff. That was my mistake.'' Her face was full of regret and guilt. She felt so stupid for acting without thinking.

But Jeff just shook his head and looked back at his right arm.

''That's not your fault… that strike, only I could dodge it with my sixth sense. His skill coin is weird… None of you should ever let that hit you, or you'll end up like me.''

''My right arm is gone.''

Houle let go of her guilt—there was no point in it now. Instead, she shifted her focus on the enemies ahead: two guys. From the way they looked, she could tell they were just commoners. She'd never seen them in Class A or even the average classes at the academy.

Tyrone smirked.

''We're hunters. And you're our prey.''

Hector, standing nearby, sighed.

''Enough talking. Attack them, they're just stalling for time.''

Tyrone laughed.

''You're such a quick one.''

Then, without hesitation, Tyrone lunged straight at the one who seemed to be the strongest in the team.

''Leave the wolf man to me! You guys take care of that blind guy.''

''Are you sure?'' Aileen frowned at Jeff's decision. It looked like he was just making it up, especially since the blind guy seemed harmless and useless.

That stung his pride as a man, but Jeff was their leader, so he asked again to be certain.

''Trust me. That blind guy's really dangerous. My sixth sense is never wrong.''

''Alright, if you say so, we'll do it.'' Aileen shouted, signaling Houle.

''Back me up, I'll crush him.''

Flick!

Flick!

Flick!

Three coins shot out instantly, spinning in the air before colliding with each other right as they neared Aileen.

And then—

Boom!

A cloud of smoke spread everywhere, blinding everyone nearby.

But they were Class A students, and of course, they had ways to deal with that.

Aileen swung his axe down hard, creating a gust that blasted the dust away and cleared the smoke.

''Hmph, what a coward. Hiding behind tricks and throwing trash at me? Come at me like a man!''

''Run, Aileen! A mana bomb under your feet!''

Aileen froze in panic, looking down. A chill ran through his spine as he spotted the glowing bomb.

''You bastard!''

He couldn't believe a mana bomb had appeared right beneath him. But when? He hadn't seen anything thrown his way.

Still, there was no time to think. He had to run if he wanted to survive. But then, his shock only grew when his feet wouldn't move—locked in place by a shadowy hand rising from the ground.

''Oh no!''

Boom!

The mana bomb exploded, obliterating everything in its range. In just a moment, all that was left was dust and smoke hanging thick in the air.

Houle and Jeff froze, horrified at the sight of their comrade being wiped out in the blast. Until at some point, they just could take their mind again. And, the first, Jeff, as the leader, forced himself to stay calm. He shouted a warning to Houle.

''Stay sharp! Someone here's using shadow hands to trap us. Keep moving and watch the ground!''

Before the enemy's lost caution, Tyrone roared, slashing at Jeff with his claws just as Jeff lost focus.

''You talk too much. I've not had enough yet?!''

Jeff's armor shattered from the blow. He gritted his teeth, leaping back to dodge another shadow hand reaching up from below. Not only that, he had to withstand a storm of attacks, not less maniacal of the wolf man. In the normal case, he could have handled him easily, but now, it just was really hard with his state.

He needed more time to heal the capsule treating his right arm.

''Damn it! Everything's going to hell.''

Suddenly, a furious curse echoed from the center of the blast.

''Bastards! I swear I'll cut you into pieces!''

From the dust and smoke, Aileen charged out, completely unharmed—yet his face showed no relief at all. Instead, he rushed straight at Hector, screaming at him as if Hector was the only one he needed to kill at any cost.

''YOU DIE!'' Aileen roared, spinning his massive axe and chopping down toward Hector's head.

You had seemed to use a kind of the artifact to protect himself from the blast. It was good news for his comrades. Indeed, they believed that Aileen wouldn't die unmeaningfully like that because he was actually a rich boy from the empire. Some precious artifact in his pocket was normal.

Of course, that was bad news for Hector and Tyrone. That trick wouldn't repeat again.

Tired, looking at the battle axe swinging to him, Hector dodged with a quick movement thanks to art footstep from Lyder Clan. Then, behind him, a dozen arrows flew in—but he hardly paid attention. A shadow hand surged up from the ground, blocking them for him.

Hector kept moving calmly. Keeping the dancing himself to play with his enemy.

Aileen kept attacking Hector and swung his battle axe many times even if none of them aimed at Hector.

Then, 5 minutes passed and around five clashes had happened between Hector and Aileen. Eventually, all ended up no one harm.

Aileen grew furious as every attack failed. He had never faced someone like Hector, who slipped past each strike so effortlessly, as if he could see every move coming.

''Don't dance anymore! You blind!''

It reminded him of Kevin and Haley—the geniuses of the great clans—whom he had once challenged, only to suffer humiliating defeat.

They hadn't even needed to use mana to crush him. But what truly broke his pride now was that this power came from a commoner. His mind simply refused to accept it.

''You're not one of them!'' he screamed, triggering his skill coin and swinging his axe horizontally at Hector once more.

Every missed strike tore the ground apart, raising spikes of earth and leaving Hector no room to jump or dodge.

But Hector's eyes caught the attack clearly. He vaulted off the ground, landing on the top of a spike and using it as a springboard, stumbling down lightly before regaining his stance at a safe distance. He gazed at Aileen with a bored, almost mocking look.

At that moment, Aileen finally understood—he couldn't do anything. His mind broke under Hector's calm, humiliating demeanor. Against him, Aileen looked no better than a child throwing a tantrum. Five minutes of fighting had proved it all.

However, it wasn't just Aileen—his comrades were just as shocked as he was. Jeff especially looked shaken after a quick glance at Hector. He knew Aileen was really strong, and if their roles were switched, his own fate would've been no different from his comrade's.

He didn't even touch a blind, weak guy at all. Worse, Hector was one kind of commoner, who Aileen always humiliated every time and gave them a trash name.

Even so, was he really worse than trash? He couldn't believe his pride had fallen so low—and that he had accepted it so quickly. Maybe it came from countless clashes with geniuses of the Big Clans, where he was always defeated… and countless hours of training, hoping one day to crush them. Yet this fight alone had just erased all those years of effort.

''Sorry, guys… I can't beat him.'' Aileen growled bitterly, teeth clenched as he glared at his enemy.

But Houle shouted from behind:

''Don't give up! He can't fight back—just stall him! I've found the third enemy!''

She launched herself into the air, mechanical wings flaring open behind her back. After her run-ins with the shadow hand, she had pieced things together.

First, the shadow hand definitely belonged to a third fighter hiding nearby. Why was she so sure? Because no one could fight her comrades head-on while controlling the shadows so precisely at the same time. And the shadows had been targeting all three of them equally—so assuming it was one of the two in front was absurd.

Second, Hector never fought back. He only dodged. At first, she thought he was toying with Aileen, but after reviewing everything, it was clear—no, that wasn't it at all.

The mana bomb. The smoke bomb. The flying coins. Every trick was the work of someone who stayed hidden, striking from afar.
