Clan Building System: I'm not the Protagonist?!

Chapter 251: 251- Updated.

Morning arrived and sunlight felt across the Fang estate, each ray that got into the estate made the grasses looked greener, by the storm that passed last night.

The rain had left the gardens glistening and now the whole clan felt as if it was easier to breathe beneath the clear sky.

Fang Yuan, after last night, had returned to his chamber and spent the hours in cultivation, stabilizing the Hollow Spirit Realm within him.

Yet when dawn arrived, he found himself stepping outside, unable to resist the pull of the sunrise.

What am I, a sloth? he mused with a faint smirk, standing with his hands behind his back as the warmth touched his face. The feeling was ethereal.

For a fleeting moment, he allowed himself to imagine that even the heavens had quieted their wrath, as though acknowledging the birth of last night's child.

"Yuan'er!"

Fang Jingyi's voice cut through his thoughts.

She approached hastily with an excited expression and cheerful voice. "I've got news! Great news! Do you remember Fang Yueyao? She gave birth to a boy last night! It's a blessing!"

Her face was practically glowing with delight.

Fang Yuan shook his head slowly, the corners of his lips twitching with pride.

"Aunt, I was actually there when she gave birth."

Her eyes widened in surprise, but before she could find her words, Fang Yuan went on, his voice swelling with quiet satisfaction.

"Didn't you know? I'm the one who named that boy. Ah… you should have been there to see it."

The memory softened his features as a rare warmth flickering across his expression.

It was ethereal, it was.... serendipitous. If that made sense.

"Really?" Fang Jingyi gasped as she froze, her smile stiffening.

Her eyes grew wide in sudden horror. "Oh no… oh no, what have you done? That child, he won't have a normal name now! I need to fix this before it's too late! Nephew, we'll talk about this later!"

Without another word, she turned on her heel and bolted toward the direction of Fang Yueyao's quarters.

Fang Yuan stood rooted, utterly dumbfounded.

"Hey…" he muttered under his breath, watching her disappear.

"I gave him a good name, a really good one. Give me some credit."

He sighed, turning his gaze back toward the horizon.

The sunrise no longer seemed as radiant. With a shake of his head, he whispered, "You don't look so pretty anymore."

Fang Jingyi hurried through the estate, her robes still fluttering from the pace she had kept.

Once she reached the residence where Fang Yueyao had given birth yesterday, she took in long deep breathes to calm herself down as her heart was pounding from worry and from haste.

When she stepped inside, the air was calm and quiet. Fang Yueyao sat propped against her pillows, her face serene and glowing with warmth.

"Yueyao!" Fang Jingyi burst in with excitement before she spot the newborn boy sleeping soundly besides her, his tiny chest rising and falling in rhythm, she softened at the sight.

She stepped closer, her voice warm. "Congratulations Yueyao. Truly, from the bottom of my heart. Do you know? You are the first mother in our clan to bring forth a child the past few years. The Fang family has not welcomed a newborn until now. You have brought us all great joy."

Fang Yueyao's lips curved into a gentle smile, her eyes misting slightly.

"Thank you, Elder Jingyi. I feel… truly blessed. To be part of this family, to be protected even after my husband's passing, I'm very grateful. But to give life to this child under the Fang name… I can only say the heavens have not abandoned me."

Jingyi nodded, her chest tightening and hesitating, bracing herself and then she spoke each word slowly and very carefully. "Yueyao… tell me, what name did my nephew give your son?"

At once, Fang Yueyao's expression lit with pride.

She straightened a little while her smile widened greatly.

"Fang Nitian," she said, the syllables rolling off her tongue.

"Isn't it quite powerful? I am truly grateful for such a name."

Jingyi froze, blinking rapidly. "Ni… Tian?"

She frowned slightly, leaning in, her tone soft, almost coaxing.

"Yueyao, it's alright. You don't have to be afraid of anyone. You don't need to cover for Yuan'er. You can be honest with me… what outrageous name did he really come up with?"

Confusion crossed Yueyao's face. She glanced at her child, then back at Jingyi, her voice steady but puzzled.

"Elder Jingyi… I am not lying. The Clan Head named him Fang Nitian. Ni, for defiance. Tian, for heaven. That is the name he gave."

Jingyi's breath caught and for a long moment, she was stunned into silence.

The last time she had seen Fang Yuan bestow a name… it was Felicia.

No one... Not even herself know what that name was supposed to mean. She even have this feeling that perhaps if she asked her nephew what the name meant, he won't be able to give a solid answer.

Yet this time… this name wasn't so.. bad? At least it was meaningful which made her more confused.

Her thoughts were broken by the sound of footsteps.

The door slid open, and another figure entered, his voice ringing with surprise.

"Did I hear that correctly, Jingyi? Fang Yuan named your boy… Fang Nitian?"

The one who stepped in was Fang Chen.

He muttered under his breath, half in jest, half in disbelief.

"I can trust Fang Yuan with everything… except naming."

Turning to the widow, he added with a wry smile,

"You're braver than I thought, to ask the Clan Head to name your boy."

Still shaking his head, Fang Chen slowly approached while his eyes softened as they fell on the infant.

He crouched slightly, voice gentling.

"Look at him… our first Fang family member personally named by my nephew."

His lips curved into a faint, almost disbelieving smile.

Fang Jingyi corrected him quietly, "Second. Felicia was the first."

"She isn't of Fang blood," Fang Chen countered almost instinctively.

But Fang Jingyi's tone left no room for doubt. "If my nephew says she is of the Fang family, then she is."

Fang Chen paused, then chuckled, shaking his head as if finally conceding.

"Oh yes. Definitely."
