City of Desire [Kingdom Building]

Chapter 757: Clash IV

I looked at three Carrion Lances, materializing in front of the necromancer.

They are different than the ones earlier. They are smaller, thinner, and have a pale white aura covering them. When I looked at them, I couldn't help but shudder.

He didn't waste even a moment to send them toward me as they materialized.

They are fast, much faster than the Carrion Lancer earlier. Appearing in front of me instantly, but I was ready.

The cyan layer appeared across my blade, and the sap pulse began to flow into my body. Filling me with the strength, at the same time, I pushed my aura into my skills.

As I did, I swung my sword, and it moved with a speed that felt blurry even to me.

I have avoided using the aura until now, but that's not a choice I have now.

I could feel the power of the attack and understood very well that without the aura. I cannot defend against the attack, even in this place covered by legacy.

The blade is powerful, but I need to be just as powerful to use it fully. Thus the aura.

My blade reached the first Carrion Lance instantly and clashed with it.

Clang!

I felt the power; it is far greater than before, but my counter is no less powerful.

My combat class might not be at the Lv. 40 and comprehension of the aura skills might not be as strong as his, but that doesn't mean I don't have my advantages.

My blade, even at this stage, is as powerful as his staff, and most importantly, I am in the domain of my legacy.

Here, I could call my mist and use it to strengthen my aura. It becomes powerful, not to mention the power of the blade infused in the cyan layer covering it.

Rip!

A fraction of a second after the clash, my sword cut through the lance, before moving to the second and cutting through it.

This time, much faster, as I was able to infuse more power of the artifact into the cyan blade. By the time I blocked the third lance, there was no resistance at all.

My blade had just ripped through it.

I could see the surprise appearing in his eyes, but it had quickly disappeared, and the next moment, a large grey fireball the size of my arm appeared.

The Pyreblaze Fireball; I wouldn't want that to touch me.

They came at me one after another while I swung my blade toward them.

That staff is outstanding. It offers a comprehensive set of abilities. Fast casting, spell storage, and domain; it is one of the reasons why I didn't just blast him with the spells.

There is a five-and-a-half-meter domain around him.

It makes it very hard because he would sense it immediately and could counter it. I might have tried if I had emotional essence to spare, but I have to be careful with what I have.

Rip!

The fireball reached me, and my sword cut through it before cutting through another.

It is a perilous thing to cut, because Fireball is one of the strongest spells with the strongest spell structure. Even the variation, like the Pyreblaze, has a very powerful spell structure.

So, even if one can cut them, they didn't get destroyed. Instead, they kept moving or exploded, but these didn't; my blade didn't let them.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

I ripped through one fireball after another.

They came not only from the front, but also from left, right, and even behind. Here, my flexibility and reflexes are a big help.

Though the thing that helps me the most is my domain, it keeps me aware of everything.

I ripped through another fireball, and my blade moved toward the next one when I sensed an awakening.

'Fuck!' I cursed in my heart.

It's another from the undead; it is a warrior who is fighting against Trask.

That assassin had already become dangerous after she awakened the aura, and now this second one.

It made me want to scream. Instead, I calmed myself and focused on dealing with the spell coming at me.

Yes, two of the undead powerhouses had awakened aura, and it will make things difficult, but there is nothing I can do other than focus on my battle.

If I dealt with the Necromancer, the battle would be won, and I'm trying that.

While I may be cutting through his attack, I didn't stop, getting closer to the Necromancer. The horse is constantly moving toward him, but the Necromancer is fast.

That bone horse is no faster than mine, and with constant attacks, it becomes harder to get near the Necromancer.

I want to get close to him, but not too close. I have read about the spells he has. While these spells may be powerful, there are more powerful spells in his arsenal.

I will need to be very careful of them.

I will take a chance if I get it, but I doubt it. Since the battle began, the Necromancer had consistently managed a distance.

He is very good at it, which is no surprise. He is experienced and has been fighting in battles longer than the combined lifetime of both of my lives.

I pushed those thoughts away and focused on the fireballs; he is sending them even faster at me than before.

He knows he will only need one strike to finish me off, and he is counting on that. So, I have to destroy every single one of them, or I will be destroyed.

Rip Rip!

I was ripping through the fireballs when he sent another spell. A volley of bone spears, like earlier, but this time, they are enhanced with the aura.

Immediately, a stream of aura came out and formed a fractal, which turned into a rough cyan shield.

Bark Shield.

"Hehe!" I could see the shock appearing in the eyes of the necromancer, and it brought out a laugh from me.

I understood the bark shield when I was fighting Adran Bryndan. I didn't summon it, but comprehended it and practiced it in the spar.

As it appeared, I strengthened it further with the emotional essence.

I'd rather not use it, but those mana spears are strong. The defensive methods, despite all, couldn't stop those spears without the enhancements from the aura.

Tamal Wraithhearth

Clang Clang Clang!

I watched the spears clashing against the shield; they were not able to breach it.

The shield, along with the blade, and strengthening. It makes three. It had been barely a year since he had awakened the aura, and he had already learned three aura methods.

People often take years to gain the necessary control to learn aura methods.

Not to mention the method itself. I recognised Verdant Path, one of the most powerful basic aura methods of the warriors, and also one of the most difficult to learn.

He did it, and that makes me want to kill him even more. Not just capture him.

The higher-ups had been insistent on that, but seeing his growth, I fear it would be a grave mistake to let him live.

Such people are dangerous, and they become more dangerous with the passing of time. It is best to deal with them when you can.

Given what he could do now. It is best to finish him off now. He has already declared an heir.

That whore would be easier to control than him; there would be consequences, but I will already be facing consequences due to the loss of the Great Horde.

Thus, I made up my mind to kill him, but I didn't hurry.

I continued to use the spells I had been using, attacked him from all sides, forcing him to use all three of his methods.

He may have comprehended the methods, but how long will he be able to use them? The constant barrage will force him to expend his aura, and that's what I want.

I could use my most powerful spells, and I will, but at the right time.

Killing the enemy quickly is the ideal way to finish the battle, but I am getting an unsettling feeling that makes me feel like I am walking on thorns.

I have lost the Great Horde earlier, and I don't want to make another mistake.

I need to be very careful, conserve my mana and spells, while looking for the things that are giving me this feeling.

It is not Silver; he is powerful. Enough, that Yark wouldn't be his match, no, it is more than that. The feeling I am getting is one of dread.

It is a feeling I felt when I fought against those who could kill me.

I have defeated those who could kill me, but I have also been nearly killed. That taught me to be very careful; it is why I have survived so long while many have died.

Minutes passed, and I continued with the spells, which Silver defended, while still trying to come close to me.

His horse is fast and his efforts are good, but that's not enough. He might have been able to do that if he had fought the few battles, but it's clear that the way he is riding, it is his first.

It is already surprising that he does this, with the wild monster that he only brought a few weeks ago.

These things are increasing my intent to kill him even more.

I had been trying to find what could kill me here, but I didn't get anything. That leaves me with only one choice: force it out, and there is only one way I could do that.

It might not be Silver, but it is related to him. It will come the moment they sense him in mortal danger.

"It has been the battle of unexpected surprises, Silver, but it's time we end this," I said, the full power of my aura roared out of me, and my staff lit up with one of my most powerful spells.

The one I had used to kill Lv. 40's.
