Chapter 284: The Shift in Cosmos.
Within the boundless expanse of the stars, a force beyond comprehension stirred.
A man cloaked in white kneeled upon a floor woven from light and shadows, head bowed in utter reverence.
He did not dare to look up.
Before him stood something vast—something ancient and sovereign.
A being who held dominion not over this realm… but the very laws.
"My liege," the kneeling man spoke, his voice calm and precise, "the clone I stationed in Eryndor has been destroyed."
The words echoed through the chamber—a space caught between light and shadow.
"Have you found Alden?"
The question drifted through the air.
It carried a strange anticipation… an eagerness far too human for a being of his stature.
The cloaked man remained still as if any movement might shatter the fragile calm.
"No, my liege," he replied carefully. "My clones… couldn't transmit anything before they were erased. It was as if they'd never existed at all."
For a moment, the silence seemed to stretch.
"Send another."
The words carried more than command. They carried the need.
"You must find him," the being said.
"…You must find my grandson."
The cloaked man hesitated, then lowered his voice.
"The world of Eryndor has vanished again, my liege… It may take time to locate it."
The being raised a hand, and a token appeared, floating toward the cloaked figure.
"Use the treasury. Use whatever you must. But find him, before THE STAR OF RUINATION does."
"Yes, my liege."
With those words, the cloaked figure vanished, leaving the being alone.
Moments later, the vast chamber dissolved and the being reappeared in a quiet but grand room.
The room of his daughter—Lucia.
Where have you vanished, my child?
His golden eyes turned heavy as he recalled the memory of a girl who once laughed brightly, who lit corridors with her presence.
A daughter he had not seen in nearly a millennium.
He was a being, worshiped across galaxies.
Eidon Thalyros
One of the Dukes of Stellar Expanse.
And yet… for all his power, for all the countless years he had lived…
He'd only ever made one family.
A small, fragile thing he loved with everything he had.
When his wife passed, he swore, no matter what happened, he would never let his children suffer.
And yet,
His son was missing, trapped in a place even he could not reach.
His daughter… gone without a trace.
His granddaughter had been imprisoned in a dungeon for years.
And his grandson—-the one he thought died—was alive.
Living in a forgotten, low-tier world.
While he…
He had been in Chaos Space while everything he loved was shattered.
"If I had never entered that cursed space…
Would I have been able to save you?"
But it didn't matter anymore.
As even him with all his powers was weak against time.
He could not reverse it.
He could not erase it.
He could only regret it.
It was only a few months ago that he had finally found his granddaughter.
And through her… he learned the truth.
Alden was still alive.
From then, he started searching through the cosmos, to find him in the hopes of reuniting with his family.
Eryndor…
His granddaughter—Caera had told him that it was the world where Alden was.
But something was strange with that world.
Even he could not locate the world.
It was as if the world was hiding itself from prying eyes…
As if the world was constantly moving somewhere.
Yet, just when a clone of one of his subordinates had found the world, it was destroyed.
Eidon frowned as he couldn't sense the location of the world of Eryndor once again.
But he understood one thing…
…Something was happening in that world.
Something the world itself was trying to hide.
—
Meanwhile, within a private training chamber on the artificial island of Eryndor.
Unaware of shifts in the cosmos, a boy trained alone in silence.
Lucien.
His white hair clung to his forehead. His bare chest rose and fell with rough breaths.
Every muscle of his body trembled in exhaustion.
But he didn't stop. Not yet.
Ever since the humiliating defeat against Amyra, he hadn't rested.
He hadn't cried.
He hadn't allowed himself a single moment of weakness.
Instead, he turned every ounce of pain into motivation.
He could barely stand by now and yet, his violet eyes were locked forward with complete focus.
Tomorrow, the Inter-Academy Tournament would begin.
And soon… he would face Amyra again.
And this time, he would make sure to pay her back for all the humiliation she had put him…
… and his Seles through.
Within the last two weeks he had grown immensely stronger.
His application of his sound core had increased.
Only now did he understand the advantages of having two different cores.
Before he could spiral more, with a ding his system window appeared in front of him.
[An Emergency Quest Has Arrived]
[Objective: Survive the Inter-Academy Tournament]
[Rewards : NA]
[Penalty : Descent of Demon God]
Lucien blinked, his eyes trembling.
Descent of what?
Before he could process the words, an immense pain suddenly assaulted his mind… and some unfamiliar memories started appearing in his mind.
He stumbled, one hand clutching his head as the room spun violently around him.
And then,
Unfamiliar memories started crossing his vision.
Fragments of voices that weren't his.
Visions of stars devouring themselves.
A battlefield drenched in red where the sky wept.
Chains of obsidian binding something being shattered.
His knees gave way.
Who do these memories belong to?
Before he could process the thought, he lost consciousness.
—
Meanwhile somewhere else on the artificial island, a girl with white hair and violet eyes snapped her eyes open.
Amyra sat cross-legged in silence, on the verge of breaking through to the next rank.
But something had changed.
What is happening…?
She had barely begun the breakthrough when a ripple passed through her,
… not through her body… but through the very world.
The fate… it's shifting.
Her eyes narrowed, glowing in a deep shade of red.
She stared into the empty space before her as if she could see something far beyond what she should be capable of.
The threads of fate
And among them…
One radiant golden thread began to darken.
Alden…
The thread was his.
The one she loved.
The thread was now twisting into something else.
Something… wrong.
Why is his fate turning black?
No.
No, no, no…
This can't happen.
Not again.
Her fingers curled into trembling fists.
I can't lose you again.
—
Meanwhile, unaware of the threads tightening around him, Alden stepped into his accommodation.
He shut the door behind him with a soft click, ready to finally breathe.
But he paused.
Something was off.
He felt it, a presence.
He walked toward the hall…
There, on the edge of the sofa, sat a girl.
Nyx.
Her head hung low as if she was trying to deny reality itself.
Her black hair shadowed most of her face, but the tremble in her fingers gave her away.
When she finally lifted her head, her blue eyes were filled with despair.
Desperation was etched into every line of her face.
As if she didn't want to believe something.
"You are HIM…"
The words barely made it past her lips.
A truth she didn't want to believe.
But something she couldn't run from anymore.

✦ Author's Note ✦
And with that… most of the foreshadowing pieces have finally fallen into place.
From the next chapter onward, the Inter-Academy officially begins.
No more calm before the storm because this is the storm.
—
For those who forgot, Lucien has a primordial rank tome which is similar to Eclipse codex and gives him ability to use Lightning and Sound Element.
