Chapter 82 - Sword King Stone, Two Sword Marks
Shenfeng Dynasty, Ancient Elephant Country.
Beside a rapidly flowing river, a black carriage proceeded slowly along an ancient road. Luo Li and Jun Moxiao sat near the front of the carriage. Inside, their Eldest Senior Sister, Su Wanyi, was absorbing the Ancestral Dragon Essence Blood.
"Old Ancestor, I estimate we'll be out of the Ancient Elephant Country in less than three days," Jun Moxiao said, holding a map and observing the surrounding terrain. This map, obtained from the storage rings of the Yu Mo Sect disciples, was quite complete, covering the geography and culture of the entire Shenfeng Dynasty.
"Mm," Ye Yun acknowledged with a slight nod, his eyes still closed. Ever since leaving the Canglan River, Ye Yun had been comprehending a supreme divine skill and was now approaching a state of mastery. His cultivation base had also surged, breaking into the True God Realm Tenth Layer. His next step was to break through to the Divine Monarch Realm. Ye Yun wasn't consciously cultivating, yet his strength was still escalating at a terrifying speed.
The carriage pressed on slowly.
SWISH, SWISH... Figures continuously flew on swords high in the sky, streaking across like beams of light.
At first, Jun Moxiao and Luo Li paid little attention. However, they soon noticed more and more people rushing hastily in the same direction.
"Senior Sister, could some treasure have appeared up ahead?" Jun Moxiao turned his head to ask Luo Li.
Luo Li laughed. "Possibly. What else would cause such a crowd?"
"You two should go and check it out..." the Old Ancestor's voice suddenly came from within the carriage.
Ye Yun had long seen what was happening up ahead, a faint, painful regret flickered deep in his eyes.
"Thank you, Old Ancestor!" Jun Moxiao and Luo Li promptly rose, bid farewell to the Old Ancestor, and soared into the sky, flying on their swords towards the southeast.
The black carriage continued slowly along the riverbank. Ye Yun let out a soft sigh. Some things from a hundred thousand years ago, suddenly reappearing before him, still pained his heart. He slowly stepped out of the carriage and sat beside the Big Black Cat, silently gazing at the rushing river, lost in thought. As the river surged, his vision blurred, as if he had returned to that time one hundred thousand years ago.
"Little Junior Brother, look! There are so many people gathered in the distance," Luo Li called out as they flew. She gazed into the distance and saw a massive cliff, with a large crowd already gathered at its base.
"Does it seem like there's really a treasure?" Jun Moxiao grew excited. The Old Ancestor had sent them here for training and likely also intended for them to seize any opportunities for treasure. Although the treasures might not be extraordinary, they were certainly better than nothing. They needed to accumulate more resources for the future reconstruction of the Dragon God Sect.
"Are you two also heading to the Sword King Stone?" a voice suddenly asked from nearby.
Luo Li turned to see a young man in red robes.
"'You could say that,' Luo Li nodded, feeling a bit uncertain. The Sword King Stone... What is it?"
Jun Moxiao noticed his senior sister's hesitance and turned to the young man. "Friend, we're from out of town and aren't familiar with this place. Could you tell us what exactly the Sword King Stone is?"
"So, you're from out of town." The young man's face lit with understanding. He laughed and said, "The Sword King Stone is a relic from ancient times. It's said that two Life-Death Realm Powerhouses left two sword impressions, filled with Wushang Sword Intent, on a great stone. Legend has it that if one can comprehend its secrets, their swordsmanship will improve significantly. With luck, one might even obtain a set of peerless sword techniques!"
"So, these sword marks were left by Life-Death Realm Powerhouses..." Jun Moxiao nodded, a flicker of disappointment in his eyes. He had assumed some incredible treasure was about to appear. So, it wasn't that after all.
However, these two sword marks are still quite remarkable. If I could comprehend them, I might even gain a set of peerless sword techniques by chance. Thinking this, Jun Moxiao felt a stir of excitement.
"The Sword King Stone appears in the world only once every ten years, and you've both arrived right on time," the young man said, touching his brow and chuckling again.
"Our luck is incredible!" Jun Moxiao exclaimed, scratching his head. He looked at the young man and cupped his fists. "Thank you for clearing that up for us!"
"You're welcome. We are all fellow cultivators. My name is Li Shaobai. May I ask your names?" Li Shaobai asked courteously, looking at the young man and woman before him. He was particularly polite because their cultivation bases were a realm higher than his. He was at the tenth layer of the Origin Sea Realm, while they were already at the Shaping God Realm.
Since leaving the Canglan River, Ye Yun had once again suppressed Luo Li's and Jun Moxiao's cultivation bases to the Shaping God Realm. Their training had to continue. Especially in the Shenfeng Dynasty, they would face even stronger opponents. Thus, it was not yet suitable for them to travel at the Divine Bridge Realm.
"I am Jun Moxiao."
"Luo Li."
Jun Moxiao and Luo Li introduced themselves. Since no one in the Shenfeng Dynasty knew them, and with the Old Ancestor backing them, revealing their identities didn't seem to matter.
After getting acquainted, the three traveled together and soon arrived near the cliff. Two intersecting sword marks were carved into the middle of the cliff, stretching from top to bottom, spanning its entire face.
"What powerful Sword Intent!" Jun Moxiao's pupils constricted as he gazed at the massive sword marks. Even though the sword marks were several hundred zhang away, he could still feel the astonishing Sword Intent radiating from them. It struck him, creating an almost irresistible pressure.
"Quick, we need to land! We can't fly any further," Li Shaobai urged, pulling Jun Moxiao down towards the ground. "Otherwise, the powerful Sword Intent will suppress and kill us!" Luo Li followed them, landing as well.
Opposite the Sword King Stone was a vast, flat area where thousands of people had already gathered. They stood or sat in various postures, all intently staring at the two sword marks. The three of them had arrived a bit late; the positions at the front were all taken, so they could only stand at the back.
"This flat area is called Enlightenment Square," Li Shaobai said with a smile, pointing to the ground beneath their feet. "Over tens of thousands of years, countless cultivators have successfully comprehended the Wushang Sword Dao here and become renowned masters!"
Jun Moxiao laughed heartily. "Haha, let's hope we gain something too!"
Luo Li glanced around and noticed that most of the cultivators on Enlightenment Square were at the Shaping God Realm or Origin Sea Realm. There wasn't a single Divine Bridge Realm expert in sight. A puzzled look appeared on her face.
Li Shaobai glanced at Luo Li and explained with a smile, "The Sword King Stone has been passed down from ancient times. The prowess of the two sword marks has weakened considerably over such a long time. They now hold virtually no reference value for Divine Bridge Realm powerhouses. Consequently, for the past several hundred years, no experts from that realm have come to participate."
"I see. Thank you for the explanation, Senior Brother Li," Luo Li said with a slight smile.
WHOOSH!
Just then, the sound of objects tearing through the air was heard. Dozens of sword lights suddenly flew over from the distance and landed. The light dissipated, revealing several dozen young men in black robes. Upon their appearance, everyone nearby instinctively made way for them.
The leading young man snorted coldly, his gaze sweeping contemptuously over the crowd. He strode to the lead, heading for the foremost position on Enlightenment Square.
