Chapter 169: Testing the Divine Dragon Bloodline
"Uncle Ma, this... this…"
The Big Black Cat's eyes widened, too shocked to speak.
Unexpectedly, on the Third Layer of the Dragon God Sect's Scripture Palace, three Ultimate Techniques of the Dragon God Sect were enshrined.
They were identical to their own sect's Ultimate Techniques.
This was truly astounding.
At this moment, a thought flashed through the Big Black Cat's mind; he thought he might have found another lineage of the Dragon God Sect.
The Big Black Horse also stared, eyes wide, stroking his chin, rendered speechless.
Fortunately, we didn't kill that guy, nor did we beat him half to death. Otherwise, I really wouldn't know how to face the Sect Leader… the Big Black Cat muttered guiltily to himself on the side.
This was truly a case of 'the floodwaters sweeping through the Dragon King Temple'—family failing to recognize family!
"Let's look at these three Ultimate Techniques first!"
The Big Black Horse took a deep breath. Ignoring the Big Black Cat's words, he stepped forward and picked up the second book, the Dragon God Body Technique.
He didn't understand the first book, the Dragon God Sect Heart Method. However, he had seen the second and third books, the Dragon God Body Technique and Dragon God Sword Technique, many times, so he could still distinguish them.
After flipping through a few pages, the expression on the Big Black Horse's face changed slightly.
The movement techniques within were about thirty to forty percent similar to the genuine Dragon God Body Technique.
He quickly placed the book in his hand on the table and promptly picked up the Dragon God Sword Technique.
After flipping through a few pages, the Big Black Horse also placed this book on the table.
The Big Black Cat, now standing beside him, picked up the Dragon God Body Technique and began to examine it.
"This is really strange."
"The Cultivation Techniques here share similarities with the genuine Dragon God Sect Cultivation Techniques, but there are also many differences."
Could it be... is this really another branch of the Dragon God Sect? the Big Black Horse mused to himself.
After flipping through the two Cultivation Techniques, the Big Black Cat also grew serious. He frowned and said, "Uncle Ma, these two Cultivation Techniques seem to share the same origin as the Dragon God Sect's techniques."
"I know."
The Big Black Horse nodded, clutching the three Cultivation Technique manuals in his hand and putting them away.
He planned to take these three Cultivation Techniques back to the Old Master for further scrutiny.
After all, as the Sect Master of *their* Dragon God Sect, the Old Master's comprehension of these three Ultimate Techniques was much more profound. It was far beyond what these two laymen could discern.
"Uncle Ma, should we report back to the Old Master now?" the Big Black Cat asked with some delight, seeing their mission was completed.
"What's the rush?"
The Big Black Horse glared at him, gave the Big Black Cat a thump on the head, and chuckled, "There's something odd about this Dragon God Sect. We have to investigate it thoroughly."
"Uncle Ma, with these three Ultimate Techniques, isn't that enough to explain the situation?" the Big Black Cat said aggrievedly, rubbing his head.
"No! This place still feels strange. We must investigate carefully and not miss any clues. If we report back so recklessly, the Old Master might scold us for being unreliable," the Big Black Horse said, his expression pensive.
Since the Old Master had let them investigate covertly, there must have been a deeper meaning; perhaps the Old Master already knew everything. Therefore, the Big Black Horse would not return to report so hastily. Instead, he planned to turn this Dragon God Sect completely upside down.
The Big Black Horse grabbed the Big Black Cat, and they vanished from the Scripture Palace in a flash.
"Uncle Ma, where are we going next?" the Big Black Cat asked quietly.
"Let's first check if any other disciples have the Dragon God Bloodline..." the Big Black Horse said after a moment of thought.
Then, he led the Big Black Cat, and they silently infiltrated a mountain peak.
The Dragon God Sect was situated on a sprawling mountain range. There were many peaks, each housing a considerable number of disciples.
The Big Black Horse, a great demon of the Eternal Realm, moved through this place completely undetected.
After all, each mountain peak only had a single Destiny Realm Cultivator.
"This Dragon God Sect is truly strange. Little Cat, did you notice anything suspicious?" the Big Black Horse asked, stroking his chin, his eyes glinting thoughtfully after investigating one mountain peak.
"Uncle Ma, there doesn't seem to be anyone with the Dragon God Bloodline here..." the Big Black Cat said in surprise.
"Correct. This peak has about four to five thousand people, yet not a single one has the Dragon God Bloodline. That really doesn't add up!"
The Big Black Horse mused, "According to the Old Master, most Cultivators in the Dragon God Sect possess the Dragon God Bloodline. And only those with the Dragon God Bloodline can unleash the full power of the sect's Ultimate Techniques. This bloodline is the very foundation that allows the Dragon God Sect to be an Eternal Sect. Yet, this current Dragon God Sect... everything about it feels fake."
"Uncle Ma, could it be that after so many years, Cultivators with the Dragon God Bloodline have become nearly extinct on the Cangnan Continent? Is that why this Dragon God Sect can't find any disciples with the bloodline?" the Big Black Cat hypothesized after some thought.
"'That speculation isn't impossible,' the Big Black Horse said, his eyes glinting. 'Let's go check the other peaks.' With that, he led the Big Black Cat away from there."
They then quickly scoured dozens of other mountain peaks, attempting to find Cultivators with the Dragon God Bloodline.
But to their surprise, after searching all the peaks of the Dragon God Sect, among tens of thousands of people, they didn't find a single person possessing the Dragon God Bloodline.
This left both the Big Black Horse and the Big Black Cat feeling rather dejected.
They had initially thought this might be a collateral branch of *their* Dragon God Sect. But without a single Cultivator possessing the Dragon God Bloodline, such a kinship... was simply too far-fetched, wasn't it?
The two of them stood on a mountain peak.
The Big Black Cat stared blankly at the high and low buildings scattered in the distance.
The Big Black Horse's eyes, however, were constantly darting around.
After all, he was the main one responsible for this mission; the Big Black Cat was just tagging along.
So he absolutely couldn't return to the Old Master and report failure like this.
He and the Big Black Cat had only quickly scanned the Cultivators on all the peaks of the Dragon God Sect. There were still many places within the sect they hadn't been to.
The Big Black Horse decided his next step was to thoroughly search these other places. He would turn this Dragon God Sect upside down to see if any new clues could be found.
His gaze swept into the distance, and suddenly, a hint of delight appeared on his face when he spotted a particular place.
Every sect has a Treasure Pavilion. Perhaps there are some clues there!
Thinking of this, the Big Black Horse grabbed the Big Black Cat and departed from that spot.
The Dragon God Sect's Treasure Pavilion was situated within a large mountain.
It was protected by powerful Formations.
In front of the Formations, three Destiny Realm Cultivators were stationed as guards.
A black light descended from the sky.
The three Destiny Realm Cultivators collapsed, falling unconscious without any warning.
"Uncle Ma, your Sky Exterminating Phantom Eye has reached a level of true mastery, hasn't it...?" the Big Black Cat exclaimed admiringly.
"'I've merely reached initial proficiency. It's just about enough to handle these small fry...'" the Big Black Horse laughed heartily. He walked up to the great Formation and, with a light poke of his hand, a damaged opening appeared in it.
