Chapter 177: The New Trait: Divine Body
— — — — — —
Whether or not Toyohime and Yorihime actually listened to what Tsukuyomi said that day as they walked out of that distant side hall… well, only they would know for sure.
But from Veyron's side of things—
After that, whenever he visited Tsukuyomi's so-called "cold palace" (as Kaguya teasingly called it after reading some Chinese stuff), no one ever came barging in early in the morning again.
Another night passed, another battle ended with Veyron's win.
Returning to the main hall, Veyron found himself face-to-face with his ever-watchful princess, who greeted him with a thoughtful look.
"With how much you seem to enjoy that old woman," Kaguya mused, "I'm starting to think I should seriously consider speeding up my own growth and maturity..."
"…What are you even saying?" Veyron sighed, walking over to sit beside her.
"You're you. She's her. Sure, you look the same, but to me you are ny Kaguya."
"Maybe..."
Kaguya tilted her head with an amused smirk. "It's not like she can give you any real emotional feedback. She doesn't react, doesn't respond, doesn't even move... What else is she but a mature, upgraded substitute for me?"
Well… she wasn't completely wrong.
Back at the beginning, Tsukuyomi really had been like a lifeless doll during their intimate moments—just like that day at Eirin's place. No reactions, no feedback, just blank and unresponsive.
But later on, after overhearing Veyron talking to himself and realizing that he actually preferred some kind of response, Tsukuyomi had started loosening her restrictions.
Let's just say... the difference was noticeable.
Veyron shook himself free from those way-too-distracting thoughts and, without warning, reached out and pulled Kaguya onto his lap.
"So, what brought this on?"
"Well…" Kaguya adjusted herself comfortably against him. "It just occurred to me—you've either been here with me or over in her room this whole time, haven't you? You haven't left this world at all for, what, almost two months now?"
She peered up at him. "Unless… you slipped out and used that spatial gap to sneak back in?"
"Nope." Veyron shook his head.
"Back then, I used to leave all the time. Either because other worlds had opportunities to grow my power faster, or because I had missions that needed handling. But right now? Neither of those applies—so obviously, I'd rather stay here with you."
As for missions? The chat group system hadn't pushed any proper commissions for a while now.
And power-wise?
Ever since unlocking his Soul Light—or actually, even before that, when he first broke the limiter—his physical body, mental strength, and spiritual connection had all skyrocketed. Like, fucking fast.
Let's take a look at his current Trait System interface:
[Divine Ki (Lv. 79)]
[Divine Will (Lv. 78)]
[Divine Body (Lv. 78)]
Back when he first broke the limiter (in the One Punch Man World), most of those traits were sitting in the low 40s. The highest was his Ki, sitting at level 50. But ever since the Soul Light began rapidly expanding, his whole system had been climbing like a rocket.
And then there was the new one—[Divine Body].
This trait was a fusion of several older traits: the Energy Release technique he learned from Yuuka Kazami, the martial arts he honed through countless sparring sessions with her, and his very first ability trait—Swordsmanship.
To note his powers:
When he had just reached the mid-stage of Fourth Order Gene Lock. His Mind-Soul capacity was already off the charts.
Then after awakening his personalized Soul Light (Light of the Mind), his mental and spiritual resilience had become unshakable. Most psychic or spiritual attacks no longer worked on him at all.
Now, onto the physical body.
By mastering full control over his genes, he could achieve something close to immortality—ageless, untiring, and with an absurdly strong life force.
But it didn't stop there.
With the advanced genetic restructuring and transformation, he could selectively switch genetic traits to match the situation—changing forms on the fly, mimicking the physical advantages of other species, and optimizing their combat abilities in real time.
As for combat technique…
Whether it was sword, spear, blade, halberd, axe, staff, hook—any kind of cold weapon—or barehanded martial arts like fists, palms, kicks, claws, elbows, knees... or even the internal control and manipulation of energy, once your brain had computing power on par with a supercomputer (which was basically the baseline at Fourth Order), mastering all of them became child's play.
That's how Veyron's original traits—Swordsmanship, Martial Arts, and Energy Release—eventually merged together, along with everything else he'd learned since, into the new trait now known as: [Divine Body]
So why call it "Divine Body"?
Honestly… there wasn't some deep reason. Just for symmetry—he already had a Divine Will trait and Divine Ki trait, so "Divine Body" felt like a clean, balanced counterpart. It sounded classy without going overboard.
Now, just like Divine Ki, the fused Divine Body trait didn't start at +1 like most traits. It began at Level 10, and the bonus values kicked off with +3 per boost instead.
There was one downside though:
Unlike power system traits like Divine Ki, which could be further evolved by absorbing other world-specific power seeds (and thus unlock even more bonus scaling), Divine Body seemed to be capped at that +3-per-tier multiplier.
Even after Veyron went out of his way to dig up a random, obscure cold weapon technique from his unused traits list and tried to fuse it into Divine Body, the additive values still didn't change. Just +3.
Here's what the current [Divine Body] bonuses looked like on his trait panel:
[Lv.10]: +3 (Physique, Slashing Damage, Piercing Damage,...)
[Lv.20]: +6
[Lv.30]: +9
( +12, +15, +18, +21)
Whether it was hand-to-hand combat or armed combat, physical strikes or energy attacks—every single damage type Veyron could possibly think of using in battle was already included in the system.
He finally closed the trait screen and looked thoughtful for a moment.
Then, somewhat sheepishly, he added, "Alright, fine—I won't pretend. A big reason I've stayed here so long is thanks to Tsukuyomi…"
Sitting backwards in his lap, Kaguya elbowed him in the ribs, cutting him off with a sly grin.
"The other worlds are one thing, but in little Chika's world… weren't you still the principal of an all-girls' high school over there?"
"Ah… that world…"
Veyron rested his chin on Kaguya's head and gave a helpless chuckle. "Actually, it's time to revisit it... I still have some unresolved things there—and next Gwen's request, too. Oh man."

OG A/N: Even though I didn't think there was much wrong with the last few chapters, the review squad clearly felt otherwise. So I guess I'll just behave for now and focus more on the main story and the chat group… sigh.
