Chapter 17: I Got Poked by a Weapon

"Second Soul Skill."

"A hundred percent chance of catching the blade barehanded."

Lu Xian swung his spiked steel needle sword downward. Meanwhile, the dark guard who had been lying on the ground trying to claw at his own throat suddenly stiffened up like a board and, from a distance, started sliding towards Lu Xian in a desperate tackle.

The guy was still puking while sliding—vomiting all over his own face. The whole scene was downright surreal.

The remaining six dark guards were stunned for a moment. But their well-trained instincts quickly kicked in.

"It's that cursed soul skill that forces anyone who wields a weapon to drop into a sliding tackle!"

"Rescue him! Kill that little demon!"

"He has some kind of turtle shell soul skill with crazy defense. But there are so many of us—if nothing else, we can just wear him down!"

A dark guard, who seemed to be their leader, gave a low growl.

The dark guard squad worked together seamlessly. Without needing further orders, four of them charged straight at Lu Xian, while the other two went to rescue their unfortunate sliding comrade. Their teamwork was on point.

But against Lu Xian, no amount of coordination mattered. Instead, it just helped him identify the one giving orders.

"Ah-ha! Found the leader!"

"Keh keh keh—"

Lu Xian let out a sinister chuckle and pointed at the black-robed man about sixty to seventy meters away—the one who had just barked orders. Four soul rings shimmered at the man's feet as he rapidly approached. Without hesitation, Lu Xian locked onto him as the target for his soul skill.

"Since this is our first meeting, I don't have much to offer… So how about a big ol' serving of this?!"

"Ya ya ya, eat shit!"

Lu Xian cackled and chanted his soul curse.

"What the hell?!" The Soul Sect-ranked dark guard froze for a split second—then suddenly felt something filling his mouth. His jaws instinctively chewed down a few times.

Instantly.

A sour, putrid stench shot straight to his brain.

The dark guard couldn't take it. Forget the mission—he immediately dropped to his knees, tore off his mask, and hurled his guts out, retching until he was practically throwing up bile.

His vomit was mixed with half-chewed "Oli Give."

Yuuuuuuck—

"Damn you, you little demon!"

"I swear, I'll kill you—yuuuck!"

The dark guard cursed in between violent bouts of puking.

"Boss!"

"Boss…!"

The three dark guards who had charged in alongside him halted in shock.

"Kill him! Kill him now! Yueeegghh—"

The dark guard leader howled in agony, on the verge of losing his mind.

Seeing his balance jump by another 1000 abstract points, Lu Xian was beyond thrilled.

"You wanna kill me? Here, have another serving!"

"Ya ya ya, eat shit!"

Lu Xian chanted again.

The dark guard's face turned a sickly shade of blue and purple. Once again, he was forced to experience the absolute terror of this accursed soul skill. His jaw moved uncontrollably, chewing down on the mysterious substance that had suddenly appeared in his mouth.

One wave hadn't even settled before the next one hit.

The Pain Mask was back on.

Yuuuuuuuuck—

He collapsed to the ground, gagging and vomiting, his fingers frantically jabbing at his throat in a desperate attempt to purge himself. His eyes rolled back as his whole body started convulsing.

"Wait, why didn't I get any abstract points this time?"

Lu Xian frowned. Could it be that he could only farm abstract points from each person once?

He turned his gaze to the nearest target.

"Eat shit!"

Thud! Another dark guard dropped to his knees, ripped off his mask, and spewed his guts out. His entire face contorted in agony.

The Pain Mask… was contagious.

"As expected!"

Lu Xian nodded in understanding. It seemed that each individual could only generate abstract points once—at least, that's how it appeared for now.

The remaining dark guards had finally pieced things together.

This little demon had a soul skill that forced people to eat "Oli Give!"

Their faces turned green.

What kind of disgusting soul skill is this?!

Are all Evil Soul Masters this twisted?!

Damn Evil Soul Masters—so despicable! So vile!

"Retreat! Fall back!"

"Tang San, we won't let you get away with this!"

The dark guards spat out their threats as they ran for their lives.

Screw this. If anyone wanted to fight this guy, they were welcome to it. These dark guards would rather die than experience that horror firsthand.

They didn't even bother rescuing their poor sliding comrade.

They had come in full force, yet they hadn't even gotten within fifty meters of Lu Xian before turning tail and fleeing. Even their own squad leader—the one who had been swearing to kill Lu Xian just moments ago—was now stumbling away in sheer panic.

Only the unfortunate dark guard still stuck in a never-ending slide remained behind, abandoned by his squad.

Lu Xian's third soul skill had a range of 300 meters. Naturally, he wasn't going to let them escape so easily.

One after another, he unleashed his soul curse.

The six fleeing figures ran while puking—an absolutely beautiful sight. It was almost too much to take in.

Finally, the last dark guard slid right up to Lu Xian, perfectly executing a barehanded catch of his spiked steel needle sword.

His hands instantly exploded in a spray of blood. His face twisted in agony as he howled and vomited at the same time. It was a truly tragic scene.

"Okay, that was actually disgusting… I grossed myself out."

Lu Xian stomped on the guy's face, sending him off to meet the Buddha himself.

His abstract point balance: 8000!

...

Lu Xian turned to support Zhu Zhuqing, who had been getting ganged up on by seven attackers. She was covered in injuries—old wounds still healing while new ones piled on. Their carriage was utterly wrecked, leaving behind only a single wheel. Even the horse was gone.

Had he taken any longer, she might not have made it.

"Hold on!"

After exchanging messages with his allies, he quickly retrieved healing medicine from red packets sent by Lu Xueqi and Xiao Yan, tending to Zhu Zhuqing's wounds.

As they rode off together on a recovered horse, Zhu Zhuqing, sitting in front of Lu Xian, suddenly frowned.

"Move back a little… Your weapon is poking me."
