Chapter 54: Chapter 54: The Battle of Top Swordsmen
Lucas was astonished after receiving the top-level Armament Haki from Sword God Ryuma.
Lucas: "As expected of the legendary dragon-slaying swordsman—you actually have two top-level skills. Ryuma, just how many top-level abilities do you have?"
Sword God Ryuma: "These are the only two. The rest are advanced-level."
Golden Lion Shiki: "Wait, wait, wait! Why does this guy have two top-level skills? I don't accept this!"
Whitebeard: "Gurarara! I am Whitebeard, the strongest man in the world, and yet this guy has more top level skills than me? I call foul!"
Lucas: "Oh, come on. Do you even need to ask why? If you, Golden Lion, hadn't wasted time on your floating kingdom, Roger hadn't been obsessed with adventure, and Whitebeard wasn't busy adopting every pirate as his son, you guys would each have three or four top-level abilities by now."
Golden Lion Shiki: "Tch… Is that so?"
Sword God Ryuma: "It makes sense. I never had any distractions—no grand dreams, no desire for adventure, no family to protect. My only pursuit was perfecting my swordsmanship. When I hit a bottleneck, I turned my focus to Haki, since it could further enhance my swordsmanship."
Lucas: "See? Nothing to be jealous about. Ryuma just used all the time and dedication you spent chasing your dreams to train exclusively in combat. In that sense… he's pretty similar to that green-haired swordsman standing near me."
Sword God Ryuma: "You're comparing me to that green algae-head? You must be joking."
Lucas: "Not at all. You don't realize how much effort this guy puts into training. He practically lives with his sword. If there's anyone in this era who truly embodies your dedication to the blade, it's him."
Fire Fist Ace: "Wait, you're talking about Roronoa Zoro, right? Luffy's swordsman? I've seen him in action before. He's strong, no doubt, but is he really on Luffy's level?"
Lucas: "Right now? Yeah, they're about even. But in the long run? Zoro is definitely going to surpass Luffy. Why? Because Luffy relies on talent, while Zoro relies on pure effort."
Fire Fist Ace: "Luffy doesn't train much?"
Lucas: "Not really. He mostly goofs around—until your death changed him. That's when he finally understood the importance of training. Right now, he's on an uninhabited island, training Haki under Rayleigh. When he comes back, he'll be stronger than you were."
Fire Fist Ace: "...That's good to hear."
Lucas: "But here's the thing—while Luffy is training, so is Zoro. And given their completely different work ethics, there's only one way for Luffy to avoid being surpassed."
Fire Fist Ace: "What way?"
Lucas: "He'd have to die before Zoro overtakes him."
Fire Fist Ace: "…"
Golden Lion Shiki: "Hahaha! That's actually a solid strategy! Once you're dead, no one can ever beat you. Look at Roger—he's literally undefeated now!"
Pirate King Roger: "Hey, hey, hey! What do you mean by that?!"
Golden Lion Shiki: "If you hadn't let the Marines execute you, I would've hunted you down myself, killed you, and stolen your title as Pirate King. But now that you're dead, no one can prove they're stronger than you. It's the perfect defense."
Lucas: "So basically, you're saying you stormed Marineford because you were salty about Roger dying first? Damn, I thought it was out of love!"
Golden Lion Shiki: "Screw off!"
Kuraigana Island
Lucas stood before Mihawk, gripping the famous sword Shusui in his hand. The moment their gazes locked, the air grew tense.
A sudden wave of pressure erupted between them.
Zoro, standing nearby, found himself pushed back, his body instinctively recoiling from the sheer force of the clash.
"This… this is what it means to be a top swordsman…"
Zoro clenched his fists, a bitter smile forming on his lips.
"No wonder Luffy was completely outclassed during Marineford…"
"At our current level, we wouldn't even be able to stand in their battle. We'd be swept away."
Despite the stark difference in power, Zoro's determination didn't waver—it only grew stronger.
Inside the Chat Group
Pirate King Roger: "Damn, this Mihawk guy is no joke. His swordsmanship is on par with the best of our era."
Golden Lion Shiki: "Lucas, use a different swordsmanship! Try out my swordsmanship against him!"
Whitebeard: "Gurarara! My naginata would be too much for him. It's huge. He'd need to be my size to wield it properly."
Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama: "Hold on a second. Is it just me, or is there something wrong with Mihawk's eyes?"
