Chaotic World Book

Chapter 580: But the Key Is Real

San Niang and Chichi had no clue how Zhao Changhe had achieved his current battle results, they had to think back to moments earlier... In fact, Zhao Changhe had launched his ambush on the Sea Emperor even earlier than Xia Chichi's on Wang Daoning, but the effectiveness of his attack was far inferior to Xia Chichi's.

Wang Daoning and San Niang were at a stalemate, but at this moment, Hai Pinglan was no longer a match for the Sea Emperor.

Zhao Changhe couldn't afford to wait for a perfect opportunity like Chichi; he had to make a move immediately to come to the rescue.

The Sea Emperor had taken over the body of a Flood Dragon, which was extremely long; coiled up, it could form a large island, and now with its body unfurled, it stretched for miles. Hai Pinglan was fighting and retreating in the front, so Zhao Changhe went straight for the dragon's tail with his sword, trying to see if such a long creature could manage both front and rear simultaneously.

But the dragon's tail swung hard like swatting a fly and came rolling towards him.

Zhao Changhe broke out in a cold sweat and narrowly brushed past death.

It seemed that for the Sea Emperor, dealing with both front and rear was not an issue, and the force was far more savage than he had anticipated as a bystander.

It's easy to judge the weight another person carries. Watching Hai Pinglan holding his ground facing the enemy, and earlier Xia Longyuan cutting through foes as if slaughtering pigs made it seem so effortless, but only when facing it himself did Zhao Changhe understand the concept of such a vast body sweeping over.

Even a slight graze would be like a fly being rolled over by a barrel; turning into mincemeat was a certainty without any doubt.

And one would imagine such a large creature would move slower, especially if it was wounded and its agility surely impaired... In reality, it was indeed a bit slower, but the difference brought about by its sheer size meant that what was just a slight move for the Flood Dragon actually translated to a sweep of several meters. Looked at this way, it was actually faster.

Zhao Changhe once again recognized a fact: bigger is better.

Even though Zhao Changhe's attack was completely ineffective, like swatting a fly, the Sea Emperor was taken by surprise.

Less than a month ago, through an octopus body, it had clashed with Zhao Changhe. Due to concerns about Xia Longyuan, it had not fought in earnest and had only launched a shallow psychic attack, which was cleverly resolved by Zhao Changhe, who had already made a strong impression with his combat instincts. But even with such a high regard, the Sea Emperor had not expected that, in less than a month, this man would have made such significant progress. Had it been back then, the Sea Emperor wouldn't even have needed to respond; Zhao Changhe's sword wouldn't have broken through its defenses, but this time, before the sword even arrived, the Sea Emperor felt a strong foreboding and knew it would be injured if the strike landed true.

The pace of such improvement left the Sea Emperor wondering how much of a mental shadow it cast over the martial artists of the same generation in the Central Plains.

Since Zhao Changhe's sword could cause it harm, it had to be vigilant and divide its attention. Originally, Hai Pinglan was at a disadvantage for having lost the initiative, now finally he had a chance to catch his breath, and it seemed unlikely that the Sea Emperor would be able to break through him first; the situation was at a stalemate once more.

Both parties were severely injured. If they continued to stalemate, it wasn't a matter of strength anymore, but rather a race to see who would run out of energy first... The Sea Emperor felt no panic; comparing a human body's endurance to a dragon's, the outcome was evident.

The human body is fragile indeed...

Zhao Changhe was cautiously disrupting from the flank and also considering this issue. The main force was Hai Pinglan, and he was just a distraction, but with Hai Pinglan being so old, how could mere humans compete in endurance with a dragon? If Hai Pinglan fell, wouldn't everything collapse?

Not to mention Xia Longyuan's supermodel figure, even within the same level, wasn't a human body inferior to a dragon's in both strength and stamina?

So why, after the collapse of the epoch, did the humans rise from the ruins to rule the world rather than the Flood Dragons? It seemed that the rulers of the previous epoch were also humanoid, right?

There must be something about the human form that surpasses that of dragons, but what is it?

Zhao Changhe's gaze swept over the extraordinarily long body of the dragon and he thought to himself that the flaws seemed pretty obvious... The Sea Emperor had been fighting with the body of the Flood Dragon for so long, using just three moves:

Biting with its teeth, which hadn't caused much damage to Xia Longyuan's fists but instead got penetrated by the fist power, receiving a deep throat punch.

Sweeping with its body, which although mighty and fast - Xia Longyuan was rolled into a blur - was ultimately very monotonous; evading it was not as difficult as it appeared.

Energy expulsion; alternating between water and fire, indeed quite versatile. Its current battle with Hai Pinglan mainly relied on this, essentially turning it into a mage.

That was it, just these three moves. The short and stubby claws were basically useless in offense, not reaching the front, only when Hai Pinglan attempted to attack from below were the claws used for defense...

It was apparent that the dragon's bodily form had fatal flaws; unlike a human, it couldn't use every part of its body for comprehensive offense and defense. Its attacks were not only monotonous, but it also had inherent blind spots in defense. For example, Xia Longyuan had previously aimed at the back, which the claws simply couldn't reach up to defend. Once caught out of position, it could only endure being sliced, and once sliced, it couldn't even shake it off!

The problem was that not everyone could reach its back in a head-on confrontation. Hai Pinglan had tried countless times without success to gain that position. Zhao Changhe attempted to leap onto the middle section of the Flood Dragon's body. With a twist of its body and a wild fling of its tail, he still couldn't get close.

The gap in strength was clear, and not everyone was Xia Longyuan.

Zhao Changhe's gaze then fell on the Flood Dragon's abdomen.

Compared to the back, the abdomen was much softer, but it had claws for defense; being hit by one of those claws was no joke.

Zhao Changhe gritted his teeth and suddenly dived down, burrowing to a spot that seemed beyond the reach of its claws, he thrust upward with the sword in his left hand.

The Sea Emperor couldn't help but laugh, "As expected of the young, I was just waiting for your recklessness."

It seemed impossible for the claws to reach the blind spot, yet with a casual twist of its body, the claw came swinging down...

Zhao Changhe had just drawn his Ancient Sword Dragon Emperor when the claw was already in front of him. Even though the Ancient Sword Dragon Emperor was a Divine Sword, it surely couldn't injure a true dragon's claw, and this strike was likely to crush both the man and the sword into powder.

However, contrary to the Sea Emperor's expectations, the moment the claw was upon him, the sword suddenly vanished, and Zhao Changhe let out a roar, his eyes instantly turning blood red as he fiercely met the claw's palm with his fist!

His arm visibly thickened to almost double its size, the power of his fist not erupting but instead consolidating, as if reversing from the Wave Breaking Fist and embodying the depth of the sea.

With the Xuanwu Fist, he reversed the intent of the Divine Brilliance Wind and Thunder Palm, switching from offense to defense, and withstood the dragon's might!

Just as Wang Daoning had abandoned his sword and used his fist to withstand San Niang, sometimes fists and palms could exert more strength than swords!

To Hai Pinglan, who was watching from the front, the young man in this moment was the true image of a God Demon, lifting a giant dragon as though propping up heaven and earth.

With a "crack," Zhao Changhe's hand bones fractured and his muscles burst open, turning half his body into a bloodied mess in an instant, but he managed to withstand the strike for that brief moment!

And that moment was enough to change the tide of battle!

His right hand, Dragon Sparrow, soared up, bringing man and blade together in a vicious slash that cut open a path, slicing all the way up to the other claw.

The Flood Dragon let out an earth-shattering howl as it brought down another claw fiercely, Zhao Changhe blocking it with his sword, only to be sent flying for miles, his blood spraying across the sky.

In the immediate preceding moment, as Wang Daoning retreated with serious injuries, the battle situation suddenly reversed, and the Sea Emperor, knowing he would be trapped by San Niang once more, made a bee-line for the statue, attempting to escape through the Secret Realm.

But there was no escape; the key was fake, and the door could not be opened...

The whole group converged, hurling a variety of Ultimate Skills recklessly at the various wounds on the Flood Dragon's body.

At this point, the only one truly capable of fighting among the group was San Niang, and in this instance, one San Niang was indeed enough to end it.

The Sea Emperor tried to break through, but he couldn't.

His first instinct was to attempt a breakout towards Xia Chichi, who was the weakest and also heavily injured, but this choice was like poking a hornet's nest. Zhao Changhe, paralyzed on one side, immediately blocked in front of Xia Chichi, while San Niang threw a punch that twisted the creature's half-face.

Even if it had tried to break out towards Hai Pinglan, it would not have incurred such an immediate and intense reaction.

The once mighty Sea Emperor, who had ruled the oceans of the previous epoch, was now cornered with nowhere to run or hide, about to be beaten to death by a few mere mortals, with no chance of escape.

Madness and vicious energy began to flare in the dragon's eyes.

Hai Pinglan suddenly shouted, "It's disintegrating! Get out of here, the farther, the better!"

Disintegration, another term for self-destruction. The Sea Emperor was only occupying the body of the Flood Dragon; by blowing up this body, it could still flee back to its true temple, which was currently at war with Sea Changkong. However, the bond it had formed with this Flood Dragon's body was already very strong; such a self-explosion would heavily injure its Divine Soul, wasting the recovery efforts of decades and possibly leaving it weaker than when it had first awakened.

Only when driven into absolute desperation would it resort to such an action.

"Run?" it laughed mockingly, "When I disintegrate, everything within a hundred miles will be laid to waste. With your speed, where could you possibly run?"

As it spoke, its body began to swell, "I can still return, while you will be utterly dead... Is opposing a god with mere mortals worth it? Ha..."

The laughter had just started when it was abruptly cut off in its throat.

Xia Chichi dashed to the statue, removed the Azure Dragon Seal embedded in it, and replaced it in a different position.

The unresponsive statue suddenly lit up with brilliance.

Every person present, being shrewd, rushed over immediately, converging around Xia Chichi.

"No!!" The Sea Emperor began its self-destruction, which was unstoppable.

In that moment, it expressed the same sentiment as Wang Daoning: "Fuck!"

"Boom!" The dragon's body exploded thunderously, rendering a hundred miles of the sea into Silent Annihilation, even the seawater was blasted away, revealing a deep trench.

And as the distorted light from the statue flashed, the several figures conveniently vanished from sight.
