Chapter 14: Prologue
The massive wall stood tall, dwarfing even the mountains, which looked like they were just small rocks. Thicker than thousands of mountain ranges and indestructible, it served as the ultimate defense for the Old World. A massive gate, towering over the peaks, stood wide open, revealing the vastness beyond. On either side of the entrance, two colossal knight statues stood guard. But these were no ordinary statues—they were weapons of boundless power, capable of protecting anything. Identical statues lined the other side of the gate.
John, witnessing this grand sight, felt a wave of relief wash over him. He had finally reached the Old World. For quintillions of years, he had traversed the boundless layers of the barrier just to arrive here. Yet, despite the incomprehensible time he had spent within the Multi-Layer Dimensional Barrier, only a few weeks had passed in the outside world. That was just one of the countless terrifying aspects of the barrier protecting the Old World.
He stepped forward, heading toward the gate. Eventually, he passed through its towering entrance and entered the Old World.
The contrast between the outside and inside was striking. Beyond the wall lay vast grasslands and towering mountains, but within, there was only a boundless ocean stretching endlessly to the horizon. The gate was situated on an island.
Seeing this, John immediately knew his journey was far from over. Traversing this vast ocean would be an immense challenge. Worse still, every power he had cultivated throughout his journey within the Multi-Layer Dimensional Barrier was gone. He had become an ordinary human once more, stripped of all power except for two—mental and physical energy. The presence of the Egg Boss had ensured that. Every ability, weapon, and skill he had forged inside the barrier had been destroyed, resetting his progress to zero.
John understood one thing: if he set sail in his current state, he would die.
How did he know that?
Just minutes ago, he had seen a massive creature—an island-sized behemoth—gliding through the ocean, its sheer presence kicking up waves that shattered the tranquility of the sea.
With such dangers lurking in the Old World, John knew he had no choice. He had to rebuild his power before setting off on his journey. Given what remained to him, there was only one path forward. He had to forge that power—Chakra.
Chakra was a form of energy, but more than that, it was a technique—an art of creating a new source of strength. A normal Chakra was formed by fusing two energies from the body: mental and physical. It was similar to the Chakra from the Naruto anime.
John gathered his mental and physical forces, merging them to form Chakra.
He succeeded.
But then—something happened.
One of the seals unlocked.
A corresponding power was unsealed within him.
He expected to see a familiar ability, but he was wrong.
His eyes turned crimson, and three Tomoe patterns emerged within them. A crushing pressure radiated outward, forcing everything to pause.
Countless memories flooded his mind, an overwhelming torrent that plunged him into unbearable pain. He endured as long as he could, but eventually, darkness claimed him.
When he awoke the next day, he wasted no time.
He built a ship.
And then, he set sail toward the horizon.
