Chapter 5: Snippet 2: Danmachi: Is it Wrong to Stop Tragedies in the Dungeon?:- Chapter 1

Snippet Title: Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Stop Tragedies in the Dungeon?

I am not that satisfied with the title, so any help is appreciated.

Synopsis:

Arya finds himself reincarnated in the bustling world of Danmanchi, filled with a unique dungeon, monsters, gods, and adventurers. He quickly discovers that while he may have the knowledge of how the Falna system works, surviving in this new world is far more challenging than he anticipated.

Having watched the anime and read several volumes of the light novel, Arya begins his journey by leveraging his past knowledge to try to come up with ways to fully utilize the Falna System to efficiently become stronger. He is determined to climb the ranks of the adventurer guild, aiming to not only become a first-class adventurer but also to carve out a place of his own in the complex social structure of Orario.

After all, if he wants to accomplish his dream, he has to be even more extraordinary than geniuses like Ais, Ryuu, etc.

What is his dream you ask? It is simple. His dream is to complete the last of the Three Great Quests and prevent the various tragedies that befell the city of Orario during the Dark Age.

Note:- As you can infer from the last paragraph of the Synopsis, this Fic's starting plot will take place during the Dark Age, specifically, 2 years before the Great Fued, around the same time Ais joins the Loki Familia and Ryuu becomes Level 2. So, there's a lot of interesting plot to write about in this period. Stay Tune.

1. Arriving in Orario.

│3rd Person POV │

Orario, the Labyrinth City, is known across the world for one thing above all else—the Dungeon. Located at the heart of the city, the Dungeon was an ancient, labyrinthine structure that stretched deep beneath the ground. Numerous floors filled with monsters and treasure awaited adventurers daring enough to challenge its depths. These brave souls, known as adventurers, ventured into the Dungeon for fame, fortune, and the thrill of discovery.

Orario was a living, breathing entity, its pulse felt through the streets, from the bustling markets to the guild halls filled with various adventurers of myriad races.

The city was also home to various Gods and Goddesses, each with their own Familia. These Gods had descended from the heavens, intrigued by the world of mortals and eager to experience it for themselves.

Orario was a paradise for those with ambition, luck, and talent, a cruel playground for those without skill, and a battlefield for those who dared face the dangers lurking below. In Orario, dreams could be made and shattered in the blink of an eye, and for many, it was the only place where hope could be found.

And now, Orario was about to welcome two young lives filled with hopes and dreams for the future.

Arya Kunti, a 15-year-old boy with jet-black hair, stood at the edge of a small hill overlooking Orario. His gaze was fixed on the sprawling city below. He was in awe of the beautiful view in front of him.

'It is completely different from experiencing this scene from behind the screen. It even feels extremely wrong to compare the two experiences.' This thought flashed across Arya's mind while looking at Orario for the first time in person.

Arya was a reincarnated person, having the memories of his previous life where he lived on a mundane planet devoid of anything supernatural.

In his past life, he used to spend most of his free time watching or reading anime, manga, novels, etc.

One of the anime and light novels he watched and read told the story of a white-haired, red-eyed boy on a journey to become the hero that the world of Genkai desperately needed. Now, he found himself inexplicably reincarnated into this very world.

Beside him stood Sinon, a 15-year-old girl with striking blue hair and piercing blue eyes. Unlike Arya, who looked like an ordinary human, Sinon was far from ordinary.

Her cat-like ears, perched atop her head, twitched continuously as she looked out at Orario. Her tail swayed behind her, matching the rhythm of her excitement.

"It's so big!!" exclaimed the blue-haired girl, the rapid movement of her ears and tails indicating the excitement coursing through her body.

Hearing her exclamation, the black-haired boy beside her couldn't help but comment, "That's what she said."

"Arya!!" The cat girl blushed brightly as she clearly understood the innuendo.

"Hahaha~!"

"Arya," Sinon said suddenly, her voice soft but filled with excitement and nervousness, "do you think we're ready for this?"

Arya looked down at his companion for a moment before a soft but confident smile bloomed on his face as he nodded. "Of course we are. After all, we have been training for this for nearly a decade.

"I think we are absolutely ready to finally start our journey towards accomplishing our dreams."

Sinon let out a small chuckle, her tail twitching slightly. "I guess you're right. I've been dreaming about this for so long. To finally be here, I guess I am a bit nervous."

"I think we both are," Arya replied, his voice steady. "But as long as we rely on each other and keep going on, I think we'll be fine."

The two shared a brief, reassuring glance before continuing their descent toward the city. The West Main Gate of Orario, the grand entrance to the Labyrinth City, awaited them, its tall, iron walls towering above as they made their way closer.

They had been traveling for days, their journey long and somewhat dangerous, but now they were finally here.

Soon, Arya and Sinon arrived in front of the West Main Gate.

The gate itself was massive, with stone walls that seemed to stretch endlessly upward, guarded by stern-faced soldiers who stood watch at all times. The grandeur of the gate was matched only by the overwhelming sense of authority that permeated the area.

The guards at the gate eyed them cautiously as they approached, their expression not changing even when they noticed their young age. After all, Arya and Sinon, despite their youthful appearance, both carried themselves with a certain quiet strength.

Additionally, the boy had a glaive slung across his back, while the cat girl was armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows. They were also wearing some pieces of light armor over their chest, shoulder, and knees.

They had the look of travelers who had already faced some dangers of the world.

"State your business," one of the guards barked, his voice commanding but not unkind.

Arya stepped forward, "We're here to register as adventurers," he said, his tone firm but respectful.

The guard eyed them both for a moment, scrutinizing them closely. In these turbulent times, the guards had to be wary of anyone entering the city.

After a moment of silence, he nodded. "Very well. Follow me," the guard said, turning toward a nearby building.

Inside the building, they were led to the guard in charge of the registration process. He was dressed in an Adventurer's gear with an orange elephant mask on his face. They exchanged greetings before the guards started asking for their basic details.

"Names?"

"Arya Kunti." "Sinon."

The guard gave the boy a second glance after hearing his name before continuing, "Age?"

"15." ×2

"Race?"

"Human." "Cat-People."

"Place of Origin?"

"Windmill Village. It is located near Preblica."

The guard looked up in surprise upon hearing the name 'Preblica'. After all, that place was located just outside the Great Mountain Range. Beyond the Great Mountain Range was Dragon Valley, the place where the One-Eyed Black Dragon resided.

Suppressing his surprise, the guard went back to filing the paperwork for them and continued with his questions.

"Do you guys have Falna?"

"No." ×2

"Alright! Now, place your hand on this orb."

They did as instructed and put their right hand on the orb presented by the guard one by one. The orb didn't show any reaction, prompting the guard to nod and put it away.

Ever the curious cat, Sinon couldn't resist asking, "What does that orb do? And why didn't it react in any way to our touch?"

"It's a good thing that the orb didn't react. If you guys had Falna, the orb would have lit up with green light. That would have been bad for you as we would have to detain you in such a scenario."

"Why? Are people with Falna not allowed to enter Orario?" Sinon continued asking.

"Certainly, they are allowed. Only those who falsely claim to not have a Falna are detained. The situation in the City is not good now and we, the Ganesha Familia, assist the Guild in monitoring anyone with a Falna entering the city, to ensure they are not coming with harmful intentions." The guard answered with a serious expression.

"Anyway, you two only need to pay the entrance fee before you will be allowed to enter the City. It's 10,000 Valis per person for permanent residence."

Arya nodded to indicate he understood before proceeding to take out the required amount from his backpack.

The guard took the amount handed to him and counted the two hundred 100 Valis coins in a quick but efficient manner.

Once that was done, the guard deposited the money in its designated place before completing the paperwork.

A moment later, he handed the pair two papers while giving some final instructions, "Take these papers and go directly to the Guild. There, the Guild Workers will make an Identity Card for the two of you. You need the ID Card to stay in Orario on a permanent basis."

"Thank you."

"Also, the Guild is on North-West Main Street. You won't miss it."

Arya and Sinon expressed their thanks again before they walked past the massive gates of the City.

Then, just as the guard was about to gesture to them to leave, Arya asked, "Is the Ganesha Familia recruiting new Adventurers now?"

The guard paused his action and looked at the two of them for a moment before answering, "No. If you wish to join the Ganesha Familia, you need to wait for two weeks. Two weeks later, you should head toward the Home of Ganesha Familia when the time comes."

The guard then revealed the location of the Ganesha Familia's home to the two of them before giving them a bit of parting advice, "If you want to join the Ganesha Familia, talk to the Guild Adviser while completing your registration process. They will tell you in detail about the current situation in Orario. You may change your mind then."

With that said, the guard gestured for the two of them to leave, no longer interested in holding a conversation with them.

Arya and Sinon look at each other at the guard's words before they take their leave from his office and enter the city after showing the other guards at the gate the papers given to them by the Ganesha Familia member.

The streets of Orario were a stark contrast to the quiet village they had come from. People bustled about, merchants shouted their wares, and the scent of food wafted through the air. Buildings were stacked on top of each other, each level serving a different purpose. Some were homes, others shops, etc.

As Arya and Sinon walked through the streets, the blue-haired cat girl couldn't help but take her heads this way and that way continuously.

The city was unlike anything she had ever seen and she couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. Everything seemed alive, constantly shifting and moving. There was an energy in the air that made her feel small but also incredibly excited for what the future held.

However, her excitement faded considerably when they reached the area near the Tower of Babel and encountered more Adventurers on their way.

No matter which Adventurers they saw, everyone looked tense and uneasy, constantly scanning their surroundings in search of danger.

The common folks gave them a wide berth as if they were afraid that one of the Adventurers might lash out at any moment.

Seeing this scene, Sinon recalled the Village Chief's warning just before the two of them started their journey.

The Village Chief had warned them that a group of people called Evilus was wreaking havoc on the Adventurers in the Dungeon. Additionally, the Ganesha Familia member at the guard also told them that the situation in the city was not good.

This thought massively curbed her fascination with the wonder sight of a new place.

Noticing her solemn expression, Arya spoke up, "Let's go. The Sun has already set. We need to find a place to stay for the night. Tomorrow, we'll go to the Guild Headquarters, Patheon, to finish the registration and take care of everything else before we can begin our journey as Adventurers."

Sinon nodded without saying anything and followed after Arya.

After speaking with a few locals, they found a modest inn. It wasn't fancy, but it was comfortable enough for their needs. They rented two small rooms, and after a quick meal at the diner of the inn, they retreated to their rooms for the night.

Standing near the window, Arya looked at the night sky in silence.

"I am finally here. Maxim, Arthur, Empress, Selena, …, everyone, soon I will begin my own Adventure. Please watch over me, okay?"

With that, Arya closed the window and went to sleep.
