Chapter 14: CHANTEL
CHAPTER 14
"What do you mean, getting married to your daughter?" Chantel asked curiously.
"Chantel, you have a younger sister. Her name is Tiffany."
"Oh."
"She is getting married to Max in the next three months. I hope you two are not in any special
relationship."
Chantel scoffed in disbelief. She was confused. Should she celebrate that her half-sister is getting
married to—the guy she fell madly in love with in just a few days? She looked at Max; he wasn't
saying anything. After all, they were not in any relationship. She knew he didn't feel the same way
she did. But why did he come back when he heard her cry? Well, anyone could just be so caring.
Chantel frowned, trying to hold back her tears. She had watery eyes, and every slight hurtful pain
made her cry. But this wasn't slight. How could she watch him get married? Wait! He kissed her!
Then he probably had feelings for her, but...why wasn't he saying anything? Was he just flirting with
her? Oh God, he was flirting! He tried to lure her into the hotel.
"So this is it?" she said, standing up. Tears filled her eyes. "This is it? You are just using me?"
"Chantel..." Max tried to explai"Are you guys in a relationship?" Henrietta asked worriedly.
"I love her!" Max said, running after Chantel.
"Chantel, I haven't agreed to the marriage yet," Max said, pulling her back.
"What are you waiting for? Get married!"
"I just realized that not even money can make me marry someone I don't love."
"Then marry someone you love!"
"Would you marry me?"
"Huh?"
"Because it is you I love and I want to make it up to you. Chantel, marry me, please."
Chantel was the most confused person at that moment! Was she dreaming?
"Are you serious?" Chantel said, nearly excited.
"I swear it, I am serious, bae. Would you marry me?"
Oops! This was going to be her first engagement! She didn't even know what to answer. She felt it
was too plain to say, "I will marry you."
"What took fate so long to bring you to me! Of course, I will!" she shouted joyfully, hugging him
tightly.
"At least it came not too late!"
"Thank you!" Chantel muttered.
"For what?"
They were still embracing each other!
"For loving me."
"Hmmm."
"For not making me a victim of one-sided love."
"Hahahahahaha! Victim!"
"Hahahahaha!"
"Thank you, too."
"For what?"
"For you are going to be with me for the rest of your life."
"Haha, that is true."
"So, you guys are getting married?" Henrietta cut in.
Chantel immediately let go of Max and adjusted her dress.
"Pest," Max whispered."Max, I guess it makes no difference. In fact, it is better you marry my first daughter. The contract is
fixed!" Henrietta said, giving him a handshake. Max smiled joyfully. Chantel was glad she had found
a mother.

Ken called out, "Chantel, Jade, can I talk to you both for a moment
"Sure!" They stood up and went to his room. Their father didn't look as strong and young as he used
to. What was wrong with him?
"Jane..." he paused for a while. "Can you please call her over here?" Ken said wryly.
"She won't come," Jade said, already giving up hope.
"Who the heck said I won't come?" That familiar troublesome voice came in.
"Jane!" Jade shouted joyfully and ran to hug her twin sister.
"I can forgive you, but I can't forget. So, it is better we live our separate ways, Ken!" Jane said to her
father. She called him Ken. She had lost respect. Ken caused it though. He made them suffer
miserably. Now something was eating him up for all the evil deeds he had done. He was sick and had
a short life. He raised Chantel and made her believe her beloved mother was dead. He stopped the
twins from sitting for their WAEC examination. He made his daughters club dancers, raped his own
daughter, and made her act lifeless.
"Finally, I will sit for my WAEC and practice modelling. I will become a world-renowned model!" Jade
dreamed.
"Finally, I will get a military form and I will become a military woman!" Jane dreamed.
"While I will soon become a married businesswoman. Even though I am just 22, I will become
successfully married. I will be dealing with one of the biggest companies. A happily married woman
with an awesome husband," Chantel giggled.
"I am glad my children have bright goals to achieve. Soon, I will give you my blessings. Forgive me
that I wasn't the father you deserve," Ken said.
"Stop reminding us!" Jane yelled. Chantel and Jade chuckled at her silly and fake anger.
"Tiffany, meet Chantel, your elder sister, and Chantel, meet Tiffany, your beloved little sister,"
Henrietta said gladly.
The family of Maxentinus Philip and Chantel Daniel/Thomson was holding a meeting. Max's mother's
eyes wouldn't free Chantel.
"We are calling off the marriage of my younger daughter to your son," Henrietta said boldly.
"What do you mean?" Mrs. Philip asked.
"I prefer your son to do the explanation," Henrietta responded.
