Chapter 856 We don't have time!
856 We don't have time!
A while ago, when Alec vanished into the portal beneath him, he found himself on a desolate planet devoid of any life forms.
Enthrall's figure emerged from the portal after him, and then the portal vanished.
Under his gaze, the fourth shadow general descended heavily onto the ground below, still wailing in agony from the pain he felt when Kyle tore a fragment of his soul.
Alec closed his eyes for a moment. His severe injuries had healed thanks to Kyle's powerful spiritual energy, so he knew he would easily be able to eliminate Enthrall.
How ironic, he scoffed.
These were the same powerful shadow generals that the entire universe feared.
Yet now, look at how they were dying.
So easily and effortlessly.
All because of one single person.
He knew Kyle would take care of Damien and Ceano, as well as the dark army, so he didn't have to worry about that.
He was just grateful to Kyle for giving him the chance to eliminate Enthrall.
Alec seized his sword and opened his eyes to gaze at Enthrall, who had finally begun to levitate, panting heavily as the dark flower pulsated in the middle of his forehead.
"A big scar... that is what you left on me. The day you forced me to sign that cursed dark contract was the first time I ever felt so utterly powerless. It was the same day you toyed with the life of my beloved, and I vowed to hunt you down. Only when you lie dead at my feet can I finally heal that wound that festers in my soul."
Alec muttered, and his eyes blazed.
"Let's end this quickly. I have a lot to do."
Enthrall was consumed by an urge to flee. He had already endured more than enough! In his state, he knew that he would easily be defeated without even putting up a fight.
He didn't want to die! Not yet!
"Wait... how about we talk—"
His words were violently sliced short as Alec charged at him with the ferocity of a raging storm. He barely managed to block the attack, but the searing pain from the wound in his soul sent him staggering.
'Shit! Shit! Shit!'
Enthrall screamed in his mind, calling desperately for Azazeal, Ceano, Damien—anyone who could come to his rescue!
He blocked another of Alec's attacks, but the next one sent him flying through the air. His body crashed into the ground, and dust and debris erupted into the air like a storm.
Frantically, he searched through every single artifact in his mind space—seeking something, anything, that could help him escape for now! Unlike Ceano, he knew when to retreat and when not to.
He would recover in hiding and return stronger to kill Alec and all his friends!
His thoughts came to a screeching halt when his leg was seized, and his body was abruptly yanked into the air, crashing down to the ground with bone-rattling force again and again, as if he were a ragdoll.
Enthrall's vision spun wildly with the rapid motions, and before the shadow general could even muster the strength to kick the one holding his leg, a big hand gripped his face and sent him hurtling through the air.
Alec's figure flashed before him, and his sword effortlessly cleaved through one of Enthrall's legs. A blood-curdling scream tore from Enthrall's throat as he felt not only the physical loss but another shard of his soul being ripped apart. The sword in Alec's grip pulsed with an overwhelming force; it was the most powerful sword in their universe, the weapon he had received from Old Ma.
"This is for harming Lara!"
Alec roared, lunging at Enthrall once more, his sword slicing through one of his arms with a brutal, merciless strike.
"This is for harming my friends!"
He bellowed again, his fury unabated, as he swung his weapon once more, savagely severing yet another of Enthrall's legs.
"This is for killing the innocent!"
Alec launched his sword aside, clenched his fist, and unleashed a relentless barrage of punches upon the man's face.
"This is for destroying the Realm of the Dead and closing the path to the afterlife!"
By the time he finally ceased his assault, Enthrall lay beneath him, barely clinging to life, his mind shattered and lost to the pain and agony of his soul being ripped apart.
Alec stumbled on his feet, his breath coming in heavy gasps as he raked his fingers through his disheveled hair. All this time, the system remained eerily silent.
"Soul... was I always this brutal?"
He muttered, his gaze fixed on Enthrall's convulsing figure, sprawled in a pool of his own blood, a grotesque testament to the violence unleashed. Soul stayed silent, and Alec inhaled deeply, feeling the weight of his actions pressing down on him.
"No, I know I wasn't. The circumstances made me this way. Maybe I am wrong for being so brutal, but this was for the many innocents who were killed by the shadow generals—all to please Azazeal."
He bent down to end Enthrall's suffering.
"The shadow generals were powerful and could choose a path devoid of bloodshed where no innocent lives would be lost. Yet, they chose this dark path instead."
Under his power, Enthrall's remaining soul was destroyed, vanishing into nothingness. A torrent of spiritual energy surged from his body, engulfing the dead body and causing it to disintegrate into energy as well. It was as if Enthrall had never existed in their lives, erased from existence without a trace.
That's how Enthrall died.
Alec straightened his clothes and, without hesitation, stepped through the space.
In the blink of an eye, he was above a familiar land he had visited before. Avalon. It was once shrouded in darkness, but now the land was ablaze with countless ancient symbols that pulsed with vibrant light.
A large array floated, surrounded by the symbols, where a massive celestial spirit was trapped, emitting loud cries.
James, four of the supreme elders, Jian, Carcel, and those who were part of the plan surrounded the array that blocked the voice and power of the spirit, holding the symbols with all the strength of their natural laws to keep the struggling spirit in place.
The old man—Will of the Universe—floated above the spirit, sweating profusely despite his strength, attempting to do something.
Alec quickly joined James and the others. He used his natural laws to assist them.
It seemed he was a bit late; the others had already activated the array left by Kyle and had compelled the spirit that Kyle had seen in the Second Realm but scared it away so it would hide in Avalon to reappear.
Seeing Alec, many were relieved. Even though Kyle's array was holding the spirit, their bodies were giving out from exerting too much power of natural laws. Jian shouted at the Will of the Universe.
"Hurry up, old geezer! We don't have time! Kyle won't be able to hold back Azazeal for long! That bastard has the power to kill us all if he comes before we can complete our job! How much more time do you need to contact those damn Celestials?!"
The Will of the Universe growled back.
"Shut up! Do you think this is something I do every day??! I need time! I am unable to connect with the spirit because it's fighting back! So, I am forcing my consciousness in the spirit, even though it will shatter my body, to contact the Celestial realm!"
