Cave Refuge

Chapter 754: Attack of the Giant Beast

It was precisely because of the constant targeting that after participating in several Otherworld invasions, Dong Tianyu, despite reaping considerable gains, ultimately gave up on such actions and instead chose to stay on Blue Star to hunt the invading Otherworldly Creatures.

These peaceful days did not last long; as more and more people entered Otherworlds to plunder resources, the mortality rate among the population soared dramatically.

When the population issue resurfaced, the Imperial Court not only restarted the population plan, but most importantly, with the emergence of Plane Channels that connected to Otherworlds, many people even started coveting humanoid creatures from Different Dimensions.

Because some harbored the notion of cross-dimensional plundering, China's population began to expand at a startlingly unexpected rate.

As individuals' Cultivation Level continued to improve, Cultivators generally possessed exceptional appearances; and with the addition of hybrid Otherworldly Creatures, the diversity of species in China was displayed to its fullest extent.

Seeing an increasing variety of ethnicities on the streets, Dong Tianyu was unsure whether such changes were for better or worse.

After all, now that various bases were gradually becoming stable, the problems that had arisen before the Natural Disasters were reemerging. Previously one could rely on foreign countries to balance the population, but at this time, only China still retained a relatively stable situation, and most people were unaware of the conditions elsewhere.

Even though China's technology had swiftly recovered, the subsequent attempts to launch communication satellites into space never succeeded, not even once, like in Germany.

The reason for the continual failures was not due to China's lack of technological capability; in fact, when combined with Superpower, the rockets and satellites manufactured by China were performance-wise, dozens of times more advanced than before the Natural Disaster.

However, even so, every rocket launch essentially failed to breach the atmosphere, with each attempt mysteriously encountering various inexplicable issues. This was also one of the reasons why so many people supported the space program, but many immediately gave up upon discovering a vastly huge Affiliated Plane.

Being in Magic City, Dong Tianyu did not have much understanding of the Imperial Court's plans, but seeing more and more private Affiliated Spaces appear, Dong Tianyu hesitated whether to find a location to establish a fixed Plane Door connecting a Cave with the outside world.

Since Affiliated Spaces provided a cover, displaying a Cave at this moment wouldn't actually be particularly conspicuous.

Yet, upon further consideration, Dong Tianyu realized that the space within his Cave was indeed quite vast. If he were to reveal his Cave, it might inevitably attract attention, so after much deliberation, he chose to abandon this idea.

Since the fixed Plane Channel to the Different Dimension appeared on Blue Star, there have been no new rewards for Natural Disasters in two years.

Because of this, many speculated that the series of Natural Disasters in the past were actually a selection process for a certain Plane, and once the creatures of that Plane persevered to the end, they were deemed to have earned the qualification to enter this war.

That's why those consecutive Natural Disasters immediately ceased after the establishment of the Plane Channel.

When Dong Tianyu heard this theory, he recalled that the longest interval between Natural Disasters used to be four to five months, and now that two years had passed since the last disaster, it seemed this speculation was closer to reality.

As someone favored by the Plane Will, Dong Tianyu's daily routine, aside from routinely clearing the invaders from the Different Dimension around the Magic Capital Base, was primarily focused on cultivation.

After two years, Dong Tianyu had refined his Nine Revolutions Golden Core Technique, compressing and refining his Golden Core four times, reaching the Fourth Transition.

And with the Fourth Transition of the Golden Core, Dong Tianyu felt that the strength of the Spirit Power within his body was two to three times stronger than before refining.

Just when Dong Tianyu wanted to take advantage of this peaceful time to cultivate the Nine Revolutions Golden Core Technique to the stage of Great Perfection, the earth suddenly trembled.

Dong Tianyu initially thought that another natural disaster was descending, but unexpectedly, several gigantic creatures began advancing towards the Magic Capital Base from the sea.

The sudden blare of the air raid siren was something the Magic Capital Base had not heard for two years, and at the moment it sounded, everyone quickly took shelter in the underground drainage tunnels nearby.

What Dong Tianyu did not foresee was, when he was getting ready to use Sword Control to head to the front lines, he discovered that many figures were already en route to the front lines through the air.

It turned out that during the two years of stability, many people had acquired the ability to fly just like him, even though the actual combat strength of these people remained unknown.

With the approach of those gigantic figures, the Magic Capital Base finally revealed its formidable defenses.

Perhaps because of past experiences with attacks by gigantic creatures, the reconstructed Magic Capital Base had also built defenses capable of withstanding attacks from these gargantuan monsters.

The first to engage with these gigantic creatures was inevitably the air force, and as several fighter jets were scrambled, the pilots provoked the monsters, aiming to lure them away from the Magic Capital Base.

However, despite a succession of attacks that roused the ire of the gigantic creatures, what no one anticipated was that, following a thunderous roar that pierced the clouds, all of the fighter jets that had just launched missile attacks plummeted as if they had lost control.

Furthermore, within the roar of the monsters, all the pilots in the cockpits were rendered unconscious. Nevertheless, thanks to the newly manufactured planes incorporating superpower elements, even if they uncontrollably fell into the water, the planes still provided some protection for the pilots. So, as long as the pilots regained consciousness soon enough, they actually had a chance to save themselves.

As the fighter jets crashed down, the gigantic creatures continued steadfastly towards the Magic Capital Base.

Although the first strategy failed, the prepared guards immediately opened the missile silos.

Compared to the small missiles carried by the fighter jets, the missiles hidden in the underground missile silos were evidently much more powerful just by looking at their size.

Watching missile after missile streaking out from the silos, everyone watching the battle felt extremely tense.

The reason was simple: everyone was well aware that the explosive power produced by the missiles upon detonation would far exceed the damage they could inflict.

When everyone saw each missile hit the gigantic creatures and detonate, their faces instantly revealed expressions of joy.

However, as the smoke from the explosions cleared, everyone saw that an invisible barrier had formed in front of those monsters, blocking all the destructive power from the missile explosions.
