Chapter 642: Summoning Friends
Although Dong Tianyu did not follow Mason Hart upstairs, Dong Tianyu kept close watch over the other's every move with his Divine Sense.
As soon as Mason Hart stepped onto the second floor, he detected a faint smell similar to that of rotting leather. When he sensed this odor, a very bad feeling had already begun to rise in his heart. When he entered his son's room, he saw only the somewhat disheveled bed scattered with several items of varying sizes, similar to coats.
Seeing this scene, Mason Hart's heart began to tremble incessantly. Although he badly wanted to quickly approach the bed, his legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, and each step required a great deal of effort.
As he was about to get closer to the bed and saw that the objects strewn across the unkempt bed were not clothes but human skins, his already restless heart was instantly overwhelmed by intense pain.
His legs, which had felt as heavy as lead, suddenly became weightless. Mason Hart took a few quick steps to the bed, gingerly touched the human skins, and silent tears began to stream slowly from his eyes.
Seeing the sorrow-filled scene upstairs, Dong Tianyu immediately turned his attention to the monster he was holding in his hand.
The monster that Mason Hart had knocked out in an instant was gradually regaining consciousness and began to resist as soon as it realized it was being controlled.
A monster that Mason Hart could easily subdue was even less likely to escape in Dong Tianyu's hands.
Looking at the struggling monster in his hands, Dong Tianyu, on the contrary, started to think about researching it slowly. After all, this monster was the second one he had come into close contact with. The first monster had been near death when Dong Tianyu severed the mouthpiece it had, and Dong Tianyu could only send it into the Cave to try out his newly acquired devouring conversion ability.
This one, though it had been violently attacked by Mason Hart, clearly was not fatally wounded, and so it still held value to be kept for further research.
Just as Dong Tianyu was preparing to wait calmly downstairs for Mason Hart to come down from the second floor, Dong Tianyu suddenly sensed that the monster he had subdued in his hand was emitting a very subtle fluctuation to the surroundings. Had it not been for Dong Tianyu's unrelaxed vigilance and continued lockdown with his Divine Sense, it would have been tough to detect this situation.
Realizing this, Dong Tianyu did not know what he would encounter next, but he knew that none of it would be good. So, Dong Tianyu threw the monster into the separate prison area he had already designated in the Cave.
He then immediately went upstairs and, seeing Mason Hart still kneeling on the ground, lost in grief without awakening, pulled him up abruptly. Even after such rough treatment by Dong Tianyu, Mason Hart's eyes remained full of sorrow and the will to die. Dong Tianyu slapped him hard to bring him back to his senses.
"People cannot be resurrected after death," Dong Tianyu said. "Now is not the time to grieve here. The monster we left behind was desperately emitting some special vibration. Although we don't yet know what danger that vibration will cause after spreading, no matter what will happen later, it's best for us to leave here now."
Mason Hart, his face struck hard, suddenly came to his senses. After hearing Dong Tianyu's words, he murmured repeatedly under his breath, "Leave, yes, leave; it is time to leave."
He then broke free from Dong Tianyu's grasp, not heading downstairs but instead running straight to the room diagonally opposite. Upon entering and seeing the similarly disheveled bed and the human skin laid out upon it, Mason Hart felt like all his strength had been instantly drained, and he collapsed to the ground.
Dong Tianyu, who had followed Mason Hart, had thought that Mason Hart would immediately go downstairs to leave this place of heartbreak after breaking free from him. However, unexpectedly, Mason Hart entered another room and, upon seeing the same human skin on the bed, Dong Tianyu fell into silence as well.
Actually, the matter was quite simple: if there were still anyone alive in the house, how could they be in a controlled state when they saw Mason Hart?
After all, wearing sunglasses outside is quite normal, but family members who often interact together would certainly raise questions if one continued wearing sunglasses in the room or kept their eyes closed for a long time without opening them.
Before his eyes, his wife, whom he had held dearly, had also turned into an ultra-thin human skin. Mason Hart completely fell into despair, his eyes filled with the will to die, he spoke feebly to Dong Tianyu, "I'm sorry. I had promised to take you back myself, which seemingly I can no longer fulfill. I just heard you say that there might be danger here, so you better leave now. I'll stay behind. If those monsters come looking, they can give me an answer."
As Mason Hart's voice became more vehement, he rummaged through a large box by the wall and found a small briefcase, casually twirled the combination lock on the briefcase, and then cuffed the other end of the handcuffs he was already wearing to his own wrist. He then urged Dong Tianyu to leave quickly.
Observing Mason Hart's actions, some might think that he had taken out the briefcase to carry some very valuable items, guessing that upon hearing of danger, Mason Hart was ready to flee with these valuables.
