Cave Refuge

Chapter 603: The Second Trial of the Little White Mouse

Leo King and Zane King originally thought that Zachary had some malicious intent when he stopped everyone on the ship from cultivating together. However, when they heard Zachary remind them about the substantial food consumption during the early stages of Martial Path Cultivation, they realized that Zachary was kindly cautioning them.

Leo King, eager to return home, naturally wanted everyone to cultivate the Martial Path together, but Zane King felt differently.

His attachment to his homeland was not as strong, and after spending a few years here, while he still missed his parents deeply, he was quite satisfied with the thrilling life he'd led following his second uncle through various events.

After all, when he was in the Rabbit Zoo, he was young, so his parents placed strict constraints on him.

Following Leo King to this place, and given that Leo King was his second uncle, while he was very concerned about Zane's safety, he wasn't overly restrictive.

Moreover, after the onset of the natural disaster, the two had all sorts of exciting and perilous experiences in this unfamiliar foreign land, so Zane King didn't harbor much desire to return.

What's more, most teenagers harbor an idea of uniqueness and supreme individuality. When he heard that Zachary didn't recommend all of them to practice Martial Arts initially, although he didn't show any emotion, he felt inwardly pleased.

"Sir, could you tell me how much food a martial artist typically needs to consume during the early stages of Martial Path Cultivation?"

Upon hearing Leo's inquiry, Zachary was momentarily stunned. To be honest, he really wasn't sure about the food consumption required for the Body Tempering Realm.

Zachary did not want to deceive Leo King, so he honestly replied, "I'm sorry, I'm really not sure about the exact amount. When I first began cultivating, there was an abundant food supply.

So when I was hungry in the early stages of cultivation, I simply ate and then continued my cultivation, which meant I progressed very quickly. Plus, it wasn't long before ancient creatures started appearing.

At that point, the Rabbit Zoo already had many martial artists like me, so those small ancient creatures became the prey of the rabbits.

I knew some of those acquaintances, although most of them broke through to the Inner Breath Realm at that time, I never asked them about their specific food consumption because normally, who would concern themselves with that?"

Hearing Zachary's words, Leo King's thoughts turned, realizing that without the reminder, they too would not have paid special attention to food consumption during cultivation.

He estimated that if Zachary hadn't reminded them, and if other cultivators on the ship ate without restraint in order to accelerate their cultivation, the stored food in the Granary might not last very long.

Unlike the Rabbit Zoo base, which faced a shortage of food during the early stages of the disaster, perhaps due to the sparsely populated area, Eagle Sauce did not lack basic resources after the disaster.

The food sources were also very abundant, initially relying on the stockpiles of large companies, and later, when ancient creatures appeared, hunting down a small one could feed them all for two days.

Additionally, compared to the scarcity of firearms at the Rabbit base, Eagle Sauce was rich in martial virtue; everyone understood the significance of guns, so when the disaster first struck, the priority for most was to hoard firearms, not supplies.

After all, as the old saying goes, "When the neighbors hoard grain, I'll hoard guns; then the neighbors become my granary."

Thus, even when the flood hit, most deaths in Eagle Sauce were not caused by starvation.

After hearing Zachary clearly state that he was unsure about cultivation consumption, Leo King decided to let himself and his nephew be the ones to practice cultivation first. They would use their own consumption to determine how much of the remaining supplies on the ship could sustain more people to continue Martial Path Cultivation.

Having confirmed that there had been no anomalies with Zane King up until now, Zachary did not plan to stay any longer and got up to take his leave.

Upon hearing that Zachary was going to leave, Zane King felt quite happy. After all, he had just acquired Innate Abilities. Although Zachary left behind Martial Path Cultivation Techniques, once Zachary was gone, he would become the strongest person on the ship.

Even though he wouldn't seek power or usurp the captain's role once he became the strongest—after all, his second uncle was in control of the ship—his heart was still elated. Also, since Leo King habitually avoided autocracy, even though he was the captain, there were still small groups forming on the ship.

Previously, as long as these small groups didn't cause trouble on major issues, Leo King wouldn't target them. However, those people took advantage of small mistakes made by Zane King and subsequently started to insinuate and criticize.

Although Leo King always managed to smooth things over in the end, Zane King was greatly annoyed as the target of their provocations.

Before, he could not outtalk them and could not beat them due to their number and the fact that Leo King would not intervene directly. But now it was different; he had not only acquired Innate Abilities but was about to begin Martial Path Techniques cultivation. As Zachary said, once his Martial Cultivation reached the Inner Breath Realm, it would not be much weaker than those who had just gained Super Abilities.

As his Martial Cultivation continued to improve, a martial artist's strength might not necessarily be much inferior to that of a Superhuman.
