"You mean, this— thing told you that those two will get attacked?" The Man looked at Kurumi, full of skepticism.
And Kurumi understood him perfectly, as she sent feelings of annoyance and anger towards me.
Unfortunately for Kurumi, the man who she should have expressed these feelings to can't even hear them.
He instead looked back at me and asked.
"Are you taking me for a fool or what?"
Suddenly, the pressure which was lessened previously cranked up again.
The man was clearly not buying it, and he wasn't amused either.
Which is strange— why would a random man get so worked up about the news of Akeno and her mother getting atta—
'WAIT THE FUCK UP—'
I inwardly gave myself a face palm, as I took a quick peek at the Man once more.. and decided to do a little test first to see if my guess is right.
"Why do you care anyways? I know the lady is gorgeous and all, and her daughter looks cute, but— what does that have to do with you…"
Suddenly, the suffocating aura disappeared like it never existed, before—
"GUHAHAHAHA! Young man, you have good eyes! That woman is indeed quite gorgeous isn't she? And that young lady over there, isn't she just the cutest?!" The Man boisterously laughed and started to compliment the mother–daughter duo with a proud face.
And it was the only confirmation I needed.
This man in front of me— was none other than Baraqiel, one of the Fallen Angel Cadre, and more importantly, is Akeno's father.
And as expected, after boasting about his wife and daughter more. He finally said the final nail of the coffin, that clearly confirmed my thoughts just now.
"Those two, are none other than my wife and daughter. Shuri and Akeno Himejima."
The Man grinned, before he added.
"So, young man… Are you finally willing to tell me the truth about where you got the news of my wife and daughter getting attacked?"
I couldn't help but swallow the saliva stuck on my throat yet again, as I laughed awkwardly.
But I didn't change my previous words. Instead, I explained what Kurumi is and how she's able to see some snippets of the future, and that she can share those visions of her with me, due to our unique connection.
"Interesting— a creature born out of magic magic power. And this is only its second form yet it's already powerful enough to take a peek into the future?" Baraqiel voiced in interest as he examined Kurumi before he turned towards me, and grinned.
"Kid, I don't know where and how you got this— but, I'm gonna tell you this, right here and now. This little one might be an up and coming dragon."
"I'm sure the underworld has already taught you what dragons are, right?" Baraqiel says, but I couldn't hear his subsequent words after the second sentence, because—
My mind is currently trying to process those same words. And scarily enough, he might actually be right—
Dragons, creatures that are said to be born from a large mass of power, who act based on their desires, acting freely and selfishly, while having a high amount of intelligence.
Isn't that basically what spirits are!?!
And— what's more, spirits themselves can take on any form that they want, just like dragons.
If I remember correctly, Ophis's previous form was that of an old man. Very different to their current form of a young gothic child with a very risque choice of clothes.
And Spirits themselves can take on human forms, Beatrice is the finest example. While Echidna created her without the ability to shape shift, and deliberately locked her as a human, the novel did mention that Spirits can have a human form.
They just don't like to use them because it takes a lot of mana.
In conclusion:
'HOLY FUCK! The spirit Bead may have been an even bigger jackpot than I thought it was!!'
'Just the thought about controlling a dragon army of each element— if that isn't one of men's romances, then I don't know what is!!'
"Anyways, can you tell me in exact detail what this… quasi-spirit saw in the future?"
I nodded, before I told him the "visions" that Kurumi shared with me. About how— people who wield vermilion flames and are dressed exactly like the mother–daughter duo, attacked the two.
And that Akeno only successfully escaped because her mother bought her some time.
I even threw in the scene where a fallen angel was seen kneeling in front of the deceased Akeno's mom.
But without being able to see who's face it was.
Honestly, I had forgotten Baraqiel's appearance, this is the reason why I was so guarded.
It's not just him, quite frankly. I also don't quite remember as much things about Highschool DxD now.
I could only remember major characters and plot points. I even forgot Ajuka Beelzebub's appearance.
It has been quite a long time since I have watched Highschool DxD after all. Adding this year, then it would be 3-4 years already.
But let's worry about that later. Right now, I need to stay focused on the man/ fallen angel in front of me.
Currently, Baraqiel gritted his teeth. His fury was palpable and once again, his aura ran wildly, and the pressure he emitted was even heavier than before.
"Those bastards—!!?!" Baraqiel muttered in suppressed anger, and I took this chance to attempt my escape.
Because— while he seemed pretty amicable right now. I didn't want to risk my life just in case he changed his mind.
And while I wouldn't have been this cautious previously. Now that I know that my spirits might actually have the potential to become dragons. And that Baraqiel himself knows about Kurumi now.
I did not want to get kidnapped by Azazel so he could ask me to produce more spirits for his experiments.
And I have no doubts that if he wanted to— Azazel would without a doubt kidnap someone if that can help further progress his Sacred Gear research.
So, I tried tip-toed myself away from the seething Baraqiel in front of me, but I wasn't able to reach far before he noticed.
"Now where are you going, Young Man? We aren't done with our discussion." Baraqiel's deep voice sounded, before I felt a heavy and big palm landing on my two shoulders.
I mechanically turned my head around, and as expected, he was there— preventing me from escaping.
"Ah— uh… I'm pretty sure I already told you what I know. Isn't that the reason why you came up to me anyways?" I replied stiffly, while cold sweat started to form on my back and forehead.
"GAHAHAHAHAHA—No." Baraqiel abruptly laughed, and stopped a split second later, before he picked me up by the hem near my neck and dragged me back to the bench.
…..
...….
—A few days later—
*Bang!* *Thud!*
"Gack!!"
The sound of thumping, and crashing could be heard along with my grunts of pain before I fell on my back with a loud thud.
"shit!, old man! Why do you have to hit me that hard!? I'm 9 years old!" I raised my hand to the gruff man in front of me.
"Gahahaha! A 9 year old who has the demonic energy reserves of a Satan?" Baraqiel laughed, before his face turned sombre as he said.
"Kid, trust me, if you can't even use your monstrous reserve properly, then you might find yourself being helpless during an assassination, unable to protect, not just yourself— but even your loved one's life will be in jeopardy."
Hearing his words… I turned quiet.
He was right, my big reserves would be useless if I can't utilize them properly.
"Still— this doesn't explain why you forbid me from using Demonic Power itself Old man!!" I called out, and he responded with a grin, as he replied.
"Well— what if you find yourself in a situation where you are unable to use your demonic energy? What will you do then?"
Once again, he was right. I would be super stupid to believe that there aren't any ways to restrict someone from using their magic power.
So I only sighed briefly before standing up, one again, I faced Baraqiel and got into a stance.
"Good!" Baraqiel smirked, before he taunted me with a good ol "come" taunt.
"HAA!!" I rushed towards Baraqiel with everything that I got and raised my right hand, preparing to strike.
Similarly, Baraqiel had also prepared to receive my strike.
And just before our hands met—
"STOP!" A familiar voice, belonging to none other than a Raven haired little girl suddenly echoed.
Baraqiel and I froze, and our heads turned towards the girl who's accompanied by the twins, Rem and Ram.
"Shuri-sama has finished making dinner, Baraqiel-sama, Hisa-nii."
"Shuri-sama asked us to call you both, Baraqiel-sama, HisaHisa."
The twins said, right after the other. Completely in sync.
I sighed in relief inwardly, because— everything hurts.
