Just then, a bowling ball-sized sphere of golden light hurtled past Vali's face.
His eyes widened. "Bikou, behind you!!!"
Bikou, mid-swing, his staff aimed at Kuroka, jolted. The Kinto'un beneath his feet shuddered, and he twisted his body, trying to evade the incoming attack.
The golden sphere, radiating an ominous aura, adjusted its trajectory, striking Bikou in the side.
Crack!
Despite focusing all his power on defense, Bikou's spine snapped.
He was thrown from the Kinto'un, crashing to the floor with a resounding boom.
The impact left a crater three meters wide and five meters deep.
"Ugh…" Bikou coughed up blood, his body arched in pain.
"I was careless…" he snarled, glaring at the figure that had materialized on one of the hall's support pillars—Cao Cao.
Vali's Divine Dividing flared as he landed beside Bikou, facing off against Cao Cao.
Kuroka's playful smile vanished. She stared at Cao Cao, her fur bristling.
"That's…!" Rias leaped to her feet, her eyes fixed on the weapon in Cao Cao's hand—a spear pulsing with a faint, divine aura.
A chill ran down her spine. Instinct screamed danger.
"You sense it too, don't you, Rias, nya~?" Kuroka's voice was grim. "That's the most powerful Longinus—the True Longinus."
The True Longinus.
The name alone didn't convey its full power, but its other name, the one whispered in hushed tones throughout the world—that spoke volumes.
The Spear of Longinus.
The holy spear that pierced the side of Jesus Christ. In the world of High School DxD, it was known as the True Longinus.
A weapon said to be capable of piercing even a god.
The Ultimate Longinus.
The first and most powerful God-slaying spear.
The very definition of Longinus originated from this legendary artifact, a holy relic known throughout the world.
Koneko, having just recovered, tried to stand, but Kuroka swiftly knocked her unconscious.
"Shirone needs rest, nya~," she murmured.
Asia stared at the spear, her eyes widening, a red glow emanating from them.
Xenovia, seeing Asia's reaction, tackled her to the ground. "Don't look at it, Asia! It's… dangerous for believers. It can… amplify their faith."
Kiba wiped the sweat from his brow, letting out a shaky breath. "Thank goodness I fell from grace… Just looking at that thing would have sent me into a frenzy back when I was a believer."
"Who is that? Why does he have the True Longinus?" Akeno asked, her voice strained.
"That's Cao Cao. A direct descendant of the Three Kingdoms warlord, the wielder of the most powerful Longinus, and the leader of the Hero Faction. What's he doing here?!" Kuroka's voice was laced with panic.
"You're asking me?! You idiot cat! This is all your fault!" Vali roared, ripping off his helmet.
"Huh?! What did I do, nya~?" Kuroka looked bewildered.
"You were supposed to bring Ophis back thirty minutes ago! Where is she?!" Vali's eyes darted around the room.
"I got… sidetracked, nya~~ As for Ophis-sama, Haru took her…" Kuroka mumbled sheepishly.
"..."
"We're doomed…" Bikou groaned. Their plan—using Ophis to intimidate the Hero Faction—had backfired spectacularly.
"Interesting… so Ophis isn't here. Then you have no further use." Cao Cao's voice was cold and indifferent as he looked down at them from his perch on the pillar.
A golden halo, surrounded by seven orbs of light, materialized behind him.
"Balance Breaker?! Kuroka, get everyone out of here! I'll hold him off!" Recognizing Cao Cao's power-up, Vali's face paled. He slammed his helmet back on, demonic energy surging.
"I, who am about to awaken…"
Cao Cao's eyes narrowed. "Horse Treasure!"
One of the orbs surrounding him glowed.
He thrust the True Longinus forward with blinding speed, the spear piercing Vali's abdomen.
"Fast..." Vali coughed up blood, his eyes wide with shock.
"I used the Horse Treasure to reposition you. I couldn't risk letting you activate Juggernaut Drive. You were simply… too slow."
Kuroka's tails stood straight up. Even Vali, the strongest among them, had been defeated in one hit. She was no match for Cao Cao. She frantically channeled her magic, preparing to teleport.
"Female Treasure!" Cao Cao's eyes flicked towards Kuroka, and another orb glowed.
"Teleport!" Kuroka shouted, her hands clasped together.
Nothing happened.
"Teleport! Teleport!!" Panic edged her voice.
"I'm afraid that won't work. The Female Treasure seals the powers of the strongest female present. You're just an ordinary cat now," Cao Cao said calmly.
BOOM! BOOM! Two attacks—Akeno's lightning and Rias's Power of Destruction—struck where Cao Cao had been standing, creating a cloud of dust.
"Missed? Stay alert!" they shouted.
Vali's body plummeted from the sky.
Clang! Metal clashed against metal.
Kiba, his face grim, swung his Sword at Cao Cao. But Cao Cao, with a swift parry of the True Longinus, shattered the blade.
He spun, kicking Kiba in the chest, sending him flying into a wall.
Cao Cao vanished, reappearing before Rias. He thrust his spear forward.
"Farewell, Devil."
Then, his expression changed.
