Chapter 32: Su Ming
Su Ming was left standing by himself on the road, wearing an unreadable expression.
"Senior Brother..." a disciple walked over to him.
Su Ming exhaled deeply, relaxing his expression. "I want you to find out all there is to know about that servant boy," he said.
"As you wish," the disciple bowed before leaving.
Su Ming looked at his wrist where Xueling had gripped him. He massaged it a few times, then began smiling, using his other hand to cover his expression. "Very interesting. Very interesting indeed."
As he did this, he noticed he was drawing strange looks from those around him and decided to leave.
As he walked, he thought to himself that this was surprising. He hadn't expected his little sister to be hiding so deeply. He had checked her before and knew she was concealing something, but he hadn't imagined it would be this much.
He remembered the others had found the bodies of the elders he had sent, including the Grand Elder. He had assumed they were unlucky and had encountered an expert and were eliminated, but it seemed it was her doing.
He wondered how she had gotten so strong at such a young age.
Although she was often compared to her older brothers who were much stronger, the truth was the comparison wasn't fair at all - they were almost twice her age. She really was a genius, a genuine one too compared to the two of them.
His expression became crazed. He had to have her, no matter what.
He thought to himself that it was a good thing their father was in seclusion. Otherwise, he'd be really angry if he found out she had killed so many elders. He covered his mouth. "What a caring older brother I am," he murmured.
After a while, he reached his room and sat comfortably, reviewing some documents. Since the Grand Elder had died, he needed to stabilize the situation. "I'm even taking care of the mess you made," he thought with a sigh.
His thoughts then began to wander. He wondered how he was going to get Xueling on his side. To become the sect master, his only obstacle was the sect master himself. His brother, though strong, was way too rash. The same was true for his little sister, who lacked the scheming heart needed to survive in the cultivation world.
Although she tried hard to hide it, anyone could easily see through her desire for revenge against the sect master. The sect master probably already knew this too but just let her be.
If he wanted the sect master position, he would need some extra help now that his trump card had been destroyed. His first thought had been his brother, but he was too hard to control. He was all muscle and no brain and would be difficult to work with.
But now, he had another option - his little sister. She was able to take down the Grand Elder, meaning she was just as strong as him, if not more. There was just one problem... how to control her.
He didn't think she'd just willingly agree to his plan, even against her enemy, since he had just tried to kill her before.
"Ah, that's it," he said with a smile. "The servant boy."
Before, he had seen how his sister acted. He was sure she had something going on with that servant. If this was really the case, if he could get a hold of him, then maybe...
Suddenly, he heard a knock on the door. His expression turned serious.
"Come in," he said.
"I got the information on the servant," a man said as he walked in.
…
Yu Tian and Xueling landed at her residence.
Yu Tian looked around, impressed by how large the area was. It really was the place of the wealthy.
"Do you live here by yourself?" he asked.
She chuckled at this. "Of course not." She then began pointing with her finger. "There are quarters for servants who work in my residence. There are also places for those in my faction," she explained.
"Oh, is that where I'll be staying?" he asked.
"No," she answered.
"Where then?" he asked curiously.
"Of course you'll be staying with me," she said.
He held his chin in thought. "That would indeed be convenient since I'll be helping you cultivate."
Xueling stared at him for a long time.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
She thought to herself that he was quite strange. He didn't seem flustered at all by this.
"No," she said.
She then began walking and Yu Tian followed her. "There are many different people in my faction. Each with their own reasons for joining me. If you were to stay with them, they would find ways to make things hard for you since I favor you," she said.
"I see. Looks like human nature is still consistent even in high society," he said.
She then turned around abruptly, causing him to bump into her.
"So... I didn't do it just because it was convenient," she said.
They gazed into each other's eyes for some time. Yu Tian smiled, placing his hand on her head. "Of course, I understand," he said. "Thank you," he added.
When she heard this, her expression instantly became flustered and she turned around. "I didn't say it so you could thank me," she said.
"I know," he said.
She began walking quickly, leaving him behind.
Yu Tian just watched her. "Hmm, this is a little problematic," he thought, looking at the number floating before him.
[100%]
At the same time, Xueling, who was already at the front of her door, began calling out to him. "What are you doing standing around there?" she asked, waving for him to come over.
He sighed then began walking towards her.
"This is my house. It's also where we'll be staying from now on," she said before pushing the door open. "What do you think?" she asked, stepping in and turning to observe his reaction.
"It's quite nice," he said. "Much better than sleeping on the ground."
He then held his chin. "Then again, anything is better than that," he added.
She stared at him with a blank expression before turning around. "Follow me, I'll show you your room," she said.
"My room?" he asked.
"That's right, I have lots of rooms here." She then smiled. "Could it be that you wanted to stay in the same room as me?" she asked teasingly.
"Yes," he responded.
