Part-215
Part-215
James’ mind wandered to the wooden sword strapped to his back. He had dismissed it earlier, but now he wondered if it might be the key. The goblins’ crude weapons could probably be countered by something that gave him extra reach. Plus, if the "double pain" effect worked, it could give him an edge by slowing them down or inflicting more damage than his fists.
Deciding to give it a try, James stepped back into the room. The goblins were waiting, just as before, their gleaming eyes locked onto him. This time, however, James drew the wooden sword from his back, feeling its weight in his hand.
As the goblins charged, James activated **Sloth View** once more, the world slowing to a crawl around him. He moved swiftly, positioning himself at an angle that allowed him to keep an eye on all four goblins at once. The first goblin swung its rusted sword, but James blocked it with the wooden blade, feeling the force reverberate through his arm. In the slowed-down time, he noticed the goblin’s pained expression. The "double pain" attribute was working.
Seizing the moment, James countered with a swift strike to the goblin’s torso. The creature let out a howl of pain, stumbling back as it clutched its side. Encouraged, James pressed forward, his strikes precise and quick. He wasn’t used to sword fighting, but the wooden weapon was doing its job—each hit caused the goblins to recoil in agony, giving him precious seconds to regroup and counter.
However, the fight was far from over. The remaining goblins, seeing their companion fall, grew more aggressive. One goblin swung its club at James, aiming for his legs, but he leapt back just in time, countering with a **Thunderclap**. The electric shock stunned the goblin, giving James the opportunity to follow up with a **Kangaroo Cut**, his uppercut landing squarely on the creature’s jaw. It crumpled to the ground, defeated.
But the remaining two goblins were relentless, attacking in unison. James’ stamina was beginning to wane, and he knew he couldn’t keep this up for much longer. Gritting his teeth, he activated **Crisis Mode** once again. His body moved automatically, dodging and countering with perfect precision. He parried one goblin’s strike, then spun and delivered a swift kick to the other’s chest, sending it crashing into the wall.
With one final effort, James swung his wooden sword in a wide arc, striking both goblins at once. The force of the blow, combined with the "double pain" attribute, caused them to collapse in agony. James stood over them, breathing heavily as the room fell silent.
A notification flashed before his eyes:
*Goblins defeated. EXP gained: 200.*
*You have received 8 goblin ears.*
Each Ratling had rewarded him with 25 EXP, and the Goblins offered even more—50 EXP each.
James took a deep breath, allowing himself a brief moment of relief. His chest rose and fell heavily, his body still buzzing from the adrenaline of battle. He had finally managed to defeat the goblins. The wooden sword he had used, with its "double pain" attribute, had been far more effective than he had initially imagined. It turned the tide in his favor when things were looking grim.
