Part-189
"So, what’s next for you?" James asked, leaning back in his chair.
"Well," Emdad said, scratching the back of his head, "I’m thinking of joining the athletics club at school. Maybe even try out for boxing or something. I’ve got the training now, and I want to keep pushing myself."
James grinned. "That’s awesome, man. I’m really proud of you."
The conversation shifted back to their studies after a while, with Emdad teasing them about how they were still stuck in the "nerd zone." But before long, Emdad was flipping through their notes, pointing out solutions to problems, and proving that despite his physical transformation, he was still the same sharp and loyal friend.
As the afternoon wore on, the three of them wrapped up their study session. Mili gathered her things, glancing at her watch. "I think we’re ready for tomorrow. Just need to get a good night’s sleep."
James nodded, feeling more relaxed after their impromptu break. "Yeah, we’re good to go. Thanks for stopping by, Emdad. You really surprised me today."
Emdad stood up, giving James a playful punch on the arm. "Hey, anytime. Let’s catch up soon. And good luck with the exams, both of you."
As Emdad walked away, James couldn’t help but feel a mix of pride and admiration for his friend. The transformation was more than just physical; Emdad had embraced a new way of life, one that pushed him to his limits and helped him grow stronger, both mentally and physically.
"Your friend’s pretty amazing," Mili said, packing up her books. "Not many people can change like that."
"Yeah," James replied, watching Emdad disappear into the crowd. "He’s always had it in him, though. He just needed the right push."
They left the café, ready to tackle their exams, but James’s thoughts kept drifting back to Emdad. His friend’s transformation served as a reminder that sometimes, with the right motivation and effort, even the biggest challenges could be overcome. As they walked toward the library, James smiled to himself, knowing that no matter what changes came their way, they’d all be ready to face them head-on.
The day after the intense battle with the Spider Eyes gang, James felt a strange sense of calm. His body still ached from the fight, and his mind was buzzing with the implications of their confrontation with Fire Fly Group. Yet, as he opened his phone to check for updates, a familiar notification appeared.
[Mission 22: Study and memorize the textbook for 12 hours a day until exams are over.]
Reward: Special Reward
Penalty: Endure your mother’s endless nagging all day long.
[Mission 23: Achieve a top 3 rank in the exams.]
Reward: WIS +12, INT +7
Penalty: Your WIS will decrease by -12 if you fail.
James’s eyes widened. The stakes were high. His stats had been steadily improving with every mission, but the penalty for failure this time was severe—losing 12 points of wisdom could set him back significantly. Worse yet, the thought of his mother’s non-stop nagging was enough to make him shudder. Determined, he steeled himself for what lay ahead.
