Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Treasure Hunt
Seeing Mu Li blocking his path, Lin Feng frowned slightly. Tilting his head to look at the Young Master of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group, he asked, "Young Master Mu Li, is there something you need?"
"I mean no harm. I just heard from my subordinates that your cultivation talent is quite impressive."
Mu Li smiled slightly, his tone calm as he asked with a friendly demeanor.
"Heh, I was just lucky. When condensing my Dou Qi Cyclone, I avoided many detours compared to others."
Lin Feng cast a glance at Mu Li's seemingly warm smile and replied with an indifferent chuckle.
Seeing the smile on Lin Feng's face, Mu Li's expression darkened slightly.
Back when he had condensed his own Dou Qi Cyclone, he had failed twice before finally succeeding. Thinking of this, the killing intent in his heart toward Lin Feng increased a little more.
However, having trained in the mercenary group for several years, Mu Li quickly regained his composure.
Interlocking his fingers, he smiled and said, "Are you interested in joining the Wolf Head Mercenary Group? Our group offers excellent benefits for talented individuals like yourself. After all, in the Magical Beast Mountain Range, life is always at risk. Having people to look out for you would be beneficial, wouldn't it?"
Hearing Mu Li's attempt to recruit him, Lin Feng chuckled inwardly.
With his qualifications, even joining the Yun Lan Sect would be more than feasible—so why would he ever consider joining a mercenary group with no background, no powerful experts, and no resources?
Besides, even though he lacked experience in the outside world, he wasn't blind. The way Mu Li had looked at him before was clearly not friendly.
Shaking his head, he smiled and said, "Heh, sorry. I don't like being restrained. I have no plans to join any forces for the time being, so I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you, Young Master Mu Li."
"Heh, that's fine."
Hearing Lin Feng's refusal, Mu Li waved his hand dismissively as if he didn't mind, then smiled and said, "If you ever change your mind, you're always welcome to find me. The doors of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group are always open to talented individuals."
With a slight look of apology, Lin Feng stepped aside and merged into the scattered ranks of the gathering ahead.
Watching Lin Feng disappear into the crowd, Mu Li's eyes narrowed, and a faint chill flickered deep within them.
Clearly, Lin Feng's repeated actions had greatly displeased this Young Master.
"Brat, not only are you getting too close to Xiao Yixian, but you also dared to refuse me. No matter what your future potential is, tonight, I will make sure you never leave the Magical Beast Mountain Range alive!"
Clenching his fists tightly, Mu Li's voice no longer carried the previous warmth but was instead laced with coldness.
In Qingshan Town, ever since he was a child, everyone who met him had to tread carefully.
Yet now, this mere brat named Lin Feng had dared to offend him twice in a single day—how could he not be furious?
Turning his head, he gestured to a nearby mercenary. "Ma Si, come here!"
"Young Master." The mercenary immediately stepped forward, responding in a low voice.
"Tonight, take a few smart ones with you and…"
As he spoke, Mu Li raised his hand to his neck and made a cutting gesture.
"Young Master, don't worry. That kid will definitely be 'attacked by a magic beast' tonight and die a miserable death."
The mercenary instantly understood Mu Li's intent and left to make preparations.
Seeing this, Mu Li sneered coldly. "Brat, if you dare to cross me, don't even think about walking out of the Magical Beast Mountain Range alive!"
After Xiao Yixian rejoined the group, the herb-gathering team set off again.
This time, the journey was much quieter compared to the earlier part of the trip.
Although they encountered two more waves of magic beast attacks along the way, none of them caused too much commotion.
As night gradually fell, the team finally arrived safely at their destination—a sunken basin filled with a variety of herbs.
Within the basin, countless types of medicinal plants flourished.
Upon entering the area, the rich fragrance of herbs permeated the air.
Taking a deep breath, everyone instantly felt refreshed and at ease.
"Let's set up camp here. Be careful not to damage the surrounding medicinal herbs."
Wiping the sweat off her forehead, Xiao Yixian turned around and gently smiled at everyone.
Upon hearing her words, the surrounding mercenaries immediately responded loudly before eagerly setting up their tents.
Lin Feng glanced at Xiao Yixian, who had begun directing the herb-gathering team to start digging up medicinal plants. Without paying much attention, he wandered around the basin on his own.
For some reason, the energy within this sunken area was much denser and purer compared to the outside world, which allowed these herbs to grow in large quantities.
The basin was vast, and even the Thousand Medicine House had never fully explored its internal terrain.
The area where Lin Feng and the others were currently located was merely the outer edge of this massive basin.
After circling the perimeter and finding only low-grade herbs, he shook his head in slight disappointment before glancing toward the pitch-black depths of the basin.
After hesitating for a moment, he ultimately chose to return obediently.
With his current strength, he was in constant danger within the perilous Magical Beast Mountain Range.
By the time he returned to the campsite, rows of white tents had already been set up, and many mercenaries were busy preparing dinner.
As he entered the camp, his eyes were immediately drawn to Xiao Yixian, who stood gracefully in the center. Right beside her, Mu Li was closely following her every move.
Just as Lin Feng looked toward them, Xiao Yixian and Mu Li also seemed to sense his gaze and turned their eyes toward him.
When the three of them exchanged glances, the emotions hidden within their gazes were subtly different.
With a faint smile on his face, Lin Feng nodded toward them before turning away and heading into a nearby tent.
Watching Lin Feng's disappearing figure, Mu Li maintained his smile as he said to Xiao Yixian, "Lin Feng's cultivation talent is quite impressive. His future achievements will surely not be low."
"Perhaps." Xiao Yixian responded with a faint smile, her tone indifferent.
"I'm going to check on the medicinal herbs. I'll have to trouble Young Master Mu Li to help maintain order in the camp."
Smiling slightly at Mu Li, she only left after seeing him nod in agreement.
As Mu Li's gaze followed Xiao Yixian's graceful figure, he only retracted his eyes reluctantly after she disappeared from view. However, when he recalled what had happened that morning, his fingers clenched slightly.
Night fell as campfires flickered, casting a warm glow over the mountains.
Darkness shrouded the forest, and the outstretched branches resembled ferocious beasts baring their fangs and claws.
As the night deepened, the camp gradually quieted down.
Aside from the mercenaries on night watch, the only sound was the occasional crisp crackling of burning wood in the fire.
In the silent darkness, a tent suddenly moved slightly. A graceful, shadowy figure slipped out stealthily.
Without making a sound, the figure skillfully avoided the sentries and disappeared into the pitch-black forest.
Not long after, another shadow emerged from a different tent, quietly following behind the first figure.
Deep within the dense forest, the occasional distant howls of wolves echoed, sending chills down one's spine.
As the two figures moved swiftly, one leading and the other following, they gradually distanced themselves from the camp.
In the darkness, Lin Feng raised his head slightly. Using the faint moonlight, he gazed at the enchanting silhouette ahead and smiled faintly before quickening his pace to catch up.
"The treasure hunt begins…"
