Chapter 53: Queen Medusa
Rustling sounds echoed as the flower trees parted. The next moment, a graceful figure slowly entered the young man's sight.
There was no need to elaborate on Queen Medusa's beauty. She wore a golden snake crown atop her head, and a luxurious purple silk robe covered her voluptuous, peach-like body, blending opulence with wildness, elegance with allure.
Her long black hair cascaded down, loosely draped over her fragrant shoulders, reaching her slender waist.
Beneath the silk robe, a section of a purple snake tail swayed, shimmering with a faint glow. It did not seem strange but rather added a unique charm to her allure.
Chen Guan's gaze shifted slightly. Seeing the legendary Queen Medusa in person made him truly understand why the mercenaries of Rock Desert City compared her infamous reputation to her renowned beauty, and why so many dreamt of becoming a new Xu Xian.
This woman exuded a bewitching grace while retaining the noble air of an empress. In her presence, anyone with a wavering heart would naturally feel she was born to be above them.
Although they both possessed elegance, the woman from the Yunlan Sect and Queen Medusa seemed to embody two entirely different directions—one like the snow lotus on a mountain, the other like a blooming violet.
Beautiful hair adorned with grace, and the fragrance had already filled the path!
Queen Medusa stopped a few meters away, and neither spoke immediately. Chen Guan observed her while she, in turn, examined the young man.
Finally, her gaze settled on the puppet behind him.
"A puppet capable of threatening a Dou Emperor is rare indeed. Is it what gave you the courage to face me directly?" she remarked lightly, effortlessly seizing the initiative, for strength was the true currency of conversation.
The puppet caught her eye but was not enough to earn her respect.
Chen Guan chuckled and shook his head, a cluster of cyan flames rising from his palm. The terrifying heat made the surrounding vegetation wilt slightly.
"No, it is this."
Queen Medusa's gaze shifted, a dangerous glint flashing briefly before her expression remained unchanged. Internally, however, a hint of suspicion grew. She stared at the young man's face, waiting for him to continue.
She was curious to see if the boy truly knew something.
Chen Guan did not disappoint her. He continued, "I once read a note left behind by a predecessor, revealing a secret about the snake-human tribe. It mentioned evolution and also mentioned Heavenly Flames. I suppose that is why you have been following me for so long, Your Majesty. Am I correct?"
Queen Medusa did not reply but glanced at the puppet beside him again.
The boy was clearly not foolish; he must have known that relying solely on the puppet would not be enough to stop her. His current confidence suggested either he was counting on something else, or he had made up his mind.
Drawing closer, the young man's expression remained calm, still standing fearlessly in front of the puppet.
Thoughts shifted subtly in her mind, and Queen Medusa revealed a teasing smile. "So, is this what you wish to discuss with me? I'm curious—did you know from the start that it was me following you, or did you only realize it just now?"
Regardless of the answer, it would not change the label she had mentally placed on him: a little fox. The only difference would be the degree of cunning.
Claiming his rightful position, Chen Guan ignored her question and straightforwardly stated his request.
"I can assist you in evolving with the Heavenly flame, but you must agree to a few conditions."
Queen Medusa said nothing, waiting for him to continue. Some demands were to be expected.
"I need you to assist me twice and provide two Sand Mandala Flowers. As a gesture of goodwill in our collaboration, I can offer you a guarantee: as long as the snake-human tribe does not invade on a large scale, the Jia Ma Empire will not actively invade your territory. We can continue to maintain the current state of relative stability."
The two conditions were not difficult to accept compared to breaking through the Dou Ancestor barrier. In fact, Queen Medusa felt they were surprisingly simple.
As for the guarantee of peace, both understood its true nature; it benefited both sides equally, and neither could claim the upper hand.
Though Chen Guan thought he had things firmly in hand, he still overlooked something, allowing Queen Medusa to sense that he urgently needed an ally.
The little fox was still too young.
Queen Medusa chuckled inwardly but did not speak further. She fixed her gaze on the young man's eyes and asked, "Since you know about the secret arts of the snake-human tribe, you should also understand the risks involved. How can I trust that you won't deceive me?"
This was something she needed to ensure thoroughly.
She was willing to risk her life for her people, but to die from someone else's treachery would be the greatest insult.
Chen Guan understood her concern; to him, the solution was simple.
"Easy. I will accompany you to the snake-human tribe. If I betray you, your elders and leaders can detain me. At the same time, I will have Elder Jia, that is, Jia Xingtian, lead people to wait outside your territory in case of any unpleasant incidents."
Evolution took time. Without Queen Medusa holding the line, the snake-human tribe would not be able to keep him there or resist the power of the imperial family.
This way, both sides would have mutual concerns, ensuring a balanced collaboration.
Queen Medusa accepted the proposal but was not fully satisfied.
"That's still not enough. If trading the life of a young junior could buy the life of the snake-human queen, I doubt any of the major empires would refuse."
In other words, she believed their values were not equal. Although the possibility was low, if the Jia Ma royal family truly intended to force the trade, the snake-human tribe would be at a disadvantage.
Hearing this, Chen Guan smiled and no longer concealed his strength, releasing his aura completely.
"A sixteen-year-old nine-star Dou Master, mastering a Heavenly flame—trading me for you, I think is more than enough!"
Though not yet twenty, his meteoric rise already carried a sense of soaring ambition, and that inner confidence moved Queen Medusa, momentarily disrupting her composure.
Even if he had exaggerated his age, such achievements in the northwest region were still astonishing.
"Very well, I accept."
Suppressing the astonishment in her heart, Queen Medusa regained her composure, resuming her regal demeanor.
Though she disliked admitting it, the young man's argument was valid. Unless the royal family lost their collective minds, there was no need for concern.
In that instant, she felt a fleeting impulse but quickly dismissed it.
She was Medusa, Queen of the snake-human tribe!
Her confidence and pride were no less than anyone else's.
Meeting a young talent with immense potential and thinking only of stifling him rather than challenging herself? She scoffed at such a disgraceful idea.
