Bound to the vampire I must kill

Chapter 8: Naked

Chapter 8

Seraphina

I heard when he entered, I wasn't expecting him to return. I also expected him to leave as soon as he saw me asleep, but he didn't.

I was an assassin, my senses were always on high alert. No matter how one tried, they couldn't kill me in my sleep. I could hear everything without even having to open my eyes.

He stood for a moment, watching me. Then I felt him lean closer. My heart beat accelerated, but I quickly calmed down. Why did I always feel nervous around him, they say, no matter how strong you are, your body will always recognize a stronger person. Was that the reason? Did i feel intimidated by his presence?

He seemed like he was checking out something. It was then that I remembered I had a cut on my hand, the same cut from before when I tried to draw out the vampires with my blood, and i couldn't heal the cut due to the poison that was on my dagger when I cut myself. The poison was equally lethal to witches as it was to vampires.

If he sees that, he was definitely going to know I cut myself intentionally, and that will only heighten his suspicions, making him always alert around me. I had to think of something fast.

I heard him start to leave. "Wondering how I got a cut on my skin?" I asked. from his reaction to hearing me talk, I could tell he was surprised that I wasn't asleep.

"It's a vampire claw mark isn't it?" He asked coldly. His tone has changed, was he mad?

"It's actually a knife mark. I'll be honest with you, I cut myself to draw them to me. I needed to practice my skills, and they just happened to fall for my trap" I said calmly, which wasn't completely a lie. I had to be honest with him to some point, if I needed to gain his trust. I needed him to believe I had nothing to hide.

And it seemed it worked, because his previously cold eyes softened a little.

They were rogues, he shouldn't be mad that I helped him get rid of some troublesome traitors.

"Go to sleep, I'll have a nurse treat your wound tomorrow" he said and walked out of the room, not looking back. I heaved gently, at least I had gotten him to believe me for now.

----------

The next morning, I woke up, feeling an unusual craving for fire fruit. It was a fruit only found here in the vampire kingdom, I always ate one after I was done with my killing spree, it had become like an addiction, a perfect reward for getting rid of our enemies.

I didn't have one last night after I was done, so that explains why I craved it so badly this morning. The fruit was both sour and sweet, It was the only thing related to the vampires that I loved, the poor fruit wasn't evil, it just happened to grow in a filthy land.

After having my bath and eating breakfast, I told the maids I was going out for a walk, but Irene insisted they accompany me.

"I want to go alone, you can stay here and wait for me" I said calmly, trying to reason with them.

"Your highness, last night, his majesty ordered us to always accompany you when you're going anywhere" Irene said, her voice gentle and soft, yes it was gentle, but her persistence was starting to piss me off.

So the king didn't trust me, and was using them to keep a watch on me. If he thinks he can use some petty humans to keep me under control, then he was totally wrong.

I didn't even know his name yet, and I wasn't interested in knowing. I just wanted to finish this mission as soon as possible and return to my kingdom.

"Alright then, follow me. That's if you can keep up" I said with a smirk and headed out of the palace.

As we climbed the Mountain where I knew the fire fruit grew, I could already see them panting and gasping for breath as the struggled to follow behind me.

"Your.....h—highness, I think.....we will remain down here and wait for you." Irene said between gasps, and the other maids also nodded, agreeing with her.

I smirked mischievously. "Alright then, I'll go on." I yelled from on top of the mountain and then sprinted off to pluck my favorite fruit.

Once I was out of sight, I brought down the bag I had carried with me and brought out the clothes from inside. I had taken extra clothes to change into. This gown I was wearing was difficult to move in freely.

I had asked Irene to let me wear something simple, but she insisted that as being the bride of the king, I needed to dress in the proper way. She was just too persistent, and it was kind of her charm.

I started untying the ropes from behind my back, Irene had really gone extra lengths to tie this tightly because it took a while to finally untie all the ropes.

Once the last rope had been undone, I pulled the gown, and it fell to my feet, my bare skin and chest now exposed, the gently breeze tickling my skin.

I brought out the extra clothes from the bag and started wearing it, but at that moment, I heard footsteps coming from behind me. I thought it was Irene who had still stubbornly came all the way here, so I didn't bother to turn.

"I see you managed to climb up. You're a really stubborn one I see" I teased, my lips curving into a small smile as I continued wearing my clothes.

"Not as stubborn as you" I heard his deep voice say firmly. My heart skipped a beat, what was he doing here, and....oh no, I was half naked.
