Bound to the vampire I must kill

Chapter 6: Hunter

Chapter 6

Seraphina

I turned to find Four vampires standing in front of me. Their red eyes glowed with hunger, their lips curling into predatory smirks.

"You smell delicious, little witch," one hissed, stepping closer. Seemed like my little trap worked.

They wanted my blood. Too bad for them, they'd have to die trying.

I held my dagger loosely at my side, my steps silent as I moved. "Let's see if you're as tough as you look," I said, a faint smirk tugging at my lips.

The first one lunged, his speed impressive but predictable. I sidestepped, slashing his throat in one fast motion. He choked on his own blood, his eyes widening in surprise as he collapsed to the floor.

"Wondering why you aren't healing?" I asked with a smirk. The only way I had been able to kill vampires so easily all this time was because they never expected not to get healed from my cuts. My dagger had a special poison which instantly prevented them from healing, the poison was lethal to vampires, it took me 4 years to perfect the poison, and it came in handy.

The others paused for half a second, surprised by the speed of their comrade's death. It was all I needed. I disappeared into the shadows, moving with practiced precision.

"Where is she?" one growled, his head snapping around.

"Spread out!" barked another.

Amateurs.

I struck again, swift and silent. My dagger pierced the heart of the one closest to me. He turned just in time for his eyes to widen before his body crumbled to the floor with a thud.

"She's toying with us!"

The remaining two vampires grew frantic, their movements more desperate. I could hear their breaths quicken, their fear growing, and it only made me more excited to end them.

One of them lunged blindly, claws tearing through the air. I dropped low, slicing through his leg with my dagger. He stumbled, roaring in pain. I leapt onto his back, driving the blade deep into his neck, blood splattering out of his wound.

"Three down," I smirked, my voice calm.

The last vampire froze. He was smarter than the others, assessing me with narrowed eyes. "You're avoiding spells," he said, his voice low. "Why? Afraid someone will find you?"

I didn't answer. Let him think whatever he wanted.

He charged, faster and more aggressive than the others. I doged his attacks, my movements precise and controlled. He was strong, but I was faster. With a quick trick, I lured him in, then drove my dagger up under his ribs and straight into his heart.

He crumbled, his last expression one of shock and disbelief as to how a seemingly powerless witch just killed him effortlessly.

I stood still, breathing evenly. Not a scratch on me. Just four piles of bodies scattered across the forest.

They thought they were hunting me. But I'm an assassin, and I am the hunter.

Just when I thought it was over, I heard footsteps from behind, approaching me.

Another one huh. With a swift move, I lunged at him, but to my surprise, he caught my wrist effortlessly.

My heart skipped a beat as my eyes widened in surprise. It was the vampire king, what was he doing her. Did he follow me? And, how did he defend my attack so effortlessly.

"I see you already killed them" he said, looking down at the bodies with an expressionless face. I quickly composed myself, thinking fast on how to clear myself of any suspicious.

"Yes, they tried to attack me" I said, making my voice sound as gentle as possible. Suddenly, his hands snapped to my neck so fast before I even realized, but his hold wasn't tight, his eyes glowed red in the moonlight as he glared at me.

"Drop the act purple, you aren't weak so don't act like you are. Those vampires were one of the strongest rouges, and you killed them Without getting a scratch, and you didn't even use any spells." He said, his voice dangerously low and cold.

His icy gaze pierced through me, sending a shiver down my spine. I swallowed hard, forcing myself to push past the overwhelming sense of intimidation.

"I'm royalty. I'm not a normal witch. I'm sure you're aware that we're a lot stronger that other witches" I replied, my voice firm and full of defiance, he had found out I wasn't weak, so there was no reason to act like I was. I would only have to tread carefully around him from now on.

Just then, an arrow came flying out of nowhere, almost hitting him at the back, I don't know why but my body moved instinctively, and I used a spell to deflect the arrow from hitting him.

He turned, his eyes scanning the surrounding to find the person who shot the arrow, but they were no where to be found. He finally let me go, and bent down to pick the arrow, inspecting the head.

I crouched beside him, observing a familiar scent. I quickly collected the arrow from him and he watched me, brows furrowed.

I inhaled the scent on the arrow several times. This was....the night shade venom. The poison I made specifically for killing vampires. How, who did this. I never sold it to anyone or told anyone the recipe. Only my sister knows about this poison. So how in the world did they have access to it.

"What's going on? Is there something on the arrow head? He asked. I wasn't going to tell him about the poison, but he needed to know that someone was after his life, I suddenly regretted saving his, I should have just let the arrow pierce him, and I'll be done with this mission once and for all.

I turned to him, faking panic. "Your majesty, you need to be careful, someone is trying to kill you. I said, and just before I could say anything else, I sighted another arrow, flying towards him again. This time, I wasn't saving him.
