Chapter 15: Chapter 7: The Fire Inside
The moment Dante was gone, the tension in the room exploded like a breaking dam.
"That was insane," one of the warriors muttered, still gaping at the door where their Alpha had stormed out.
Another scoffed. "Bella just looked death in the face and laughed."
Bella exhaled slowly, her hands still trembling from the raw power of the mate bond.
Her heart was still racing, her wolf still howling in her mind, begging her to chase after him.
But Bella Santos was no one's prey.
Especially not Dante Rodrigo's.
"Are you alright?" her father, Marco, asked, stepping forward with concern in his deep-set eyes.
Bella swallowed hard, forcing herself to calm down. "I'm fine."
Her mother, Elena, studied her carefully. "Lying won't help, Bella."
Bella sighed, running a hand through her thick black waves. She could still feel Dante's presence lingering in the air, like the aftershock of a lightning strike.
She knew this wasn't over.
Not by a long shot.
Dante could run all he wanted. He could fight it all he wanted.
But they were bound by fate.
And fate never lost.
