Chapter 126: A High Level Legacy
Ashara and Azrael returned to Maelir's mansion.
After coming back, Azrael immediately went to the training ground as he still needed to improve his control over his wind power.
At the same time, while he experimented with his wind power, his second consciousness, granted by the Rune of Spirit worked in the background, beginning to refine his primary energy veins once again.
Because he had refined his primary energy veins before his awakening and had reached the mid-level of the breathing method, his primary energy veins were still not fully compatible with his power of wind.
Once he refined his primary energy veins again, his speed in utilizing the power of wind would increase even further.
Since he only needed to re-refine the energy veins and did not have to search for their location, he estimated that he would be able to complete the re-refinement in about three days—just before he started attending the academy.
'Once the re-refinement of the energy veins is done, I will focus on learning the Essentia Art gramps gave me…' Azrael thought to himself as chains of wind materialized before him, binding a training dummy and completely restricting its movements.
Azrael trained for a long time and only stopped when Ashara called him for lunch in the afternoon.
During lunch, she brought up the topic of Mira.
"She wants to teach me personally?" Azrael asked, looking at Ashara with a puzzled expression.
"Mhm…" Ashara nodded and explained. "Apparently, she was impressed by your control over the power of wind." She paused for a second, then continued.
"She didn't explain much, but it seems she had a very good friend who was also a wind power user. That person died in an accident, and before his death, he entrusted his legacy to Mira, who was already the vice principal of the Slayers Academy at that time. According to his wish, he wanted her to find a young seedling who was skilled in using the power of wind and have them inherit his legacy. After seeing you today, she wants you to inherit it."
Azrael fell into deep thought after hearing Ashara's words.
Ashara had told him about legacies in the past. According to her, there were often high-ranking individuals who, before their death, left behind their legacies.
By inheriting such a legacy, an individual's path to reaching high rank would become much easier.
For example, if someone inherited the legacy of a Cosmic King-level being, there was a high chance that they would be able to reach the Cosmic King level in the future.
This was because inheriting a legacy did not just mean obtaining things like attributes, Runes, Substances, Essentia Arts, and other items used by the person who created it—it also meant gaining their insights into how to break through to the higher ranks.
Azrael thought for a long while before asking seriously, "If I inherit that person's wind legacy, would I have to use the attribute, Runes, and Substances that he used, or could I remove them and choose something different if I found they were not suitable for me?"
"You can, of course, choose whether to keep them or not," Ashara calmly explained. "It's quite normal for the person inheriting a legacy to find that a few things used by the legacy's creator are not to their liking. The main benefit of inheriting a legacy is not the Runes, Substances, or other things used by the creator, but rather their insights into the use of their power. You should know that once you reach higher levels, you can't advance just by cultivating your source core—you need to delve deeper into the concept of your power, and a legacy can greatly help you in that regard."
Azrael nodded at Ashara's words, as he already knew about this.
"What is the level of this legacy?"
Ashara shook her head. "I don't know. But…" She paused, then added in a low voice, "Since it's that old woman who was entrusted to find a suitable candidate for this legacy, I am sure the level of this legacy wouldn't be lower than Cosmic King."
Azrael raised an eyebrow in surprise at Ashara's words. He also knew how difficult it was to obtain a legacy of such a high level. And according to Ashara, Cosmic King was the minimum—it was even possible that the level was higher.
Azrael thought for quite some time before turning his attention to Ashara and asking, "What do you suggest, Mom?"
Because of his experiences on Earth, Azrael had a very hard time trusting other people. He knew nothing about Mira, and hearing that she wanted to teach him personally and even give him a high-level legacy, he couldn't believe there was no ulterior motive behind her actions.
As Ashara was aware of Azrael's Cold-Blooded Trait, she understood clearly that he wouldn't trust anyone easily.
Speaking in a sincere voice, she said, "Your father and I have known Mira for a long time. Although she can be a bit annoying at times because of her stubbornness, she is not a bad person. In fact, many famous people in the federation were trained by her… including your father."
"Huh?" Azrael was stunned when he heard the last part of Ashara's sentence. "Dad was also trained by her?"
"Well…" Ashara thought for a moment before explaining, "It can't exactly be called teaching. She just noticed that his usage of the power of space was very crude when he was attending the Slayers Academy, so she taught him a few things, and they turned out to be quite useful in his later development."
'So Dad was also a student of the Slayers Academy, huh…' Azrael thought to himself and after considering for a while, he nodded.
"I will think about this matter seriously and give you an answer before the academy starts."
"Take your time…" Ashara nodded at his words and didn't say anything further.
Once lunch ended, Ashara asked Azrael, "What are you planning to do tomorrow?"
"I am thinking about going to the academy to take a look."
"I see…" Ashara nodded. "You can go there on your own. I need to take care of a few matters tomorrow."
Azrael had no problem with that, so he nodded and once again returned to the training ground.
