Chapter 202: Chapter 201: Taking the Long Way (Part 1)
Someone's words shifted the situation once again.
Just as Chisaki Kai, with his back to them and wary of his surroundings, was about to take action, the air in the alley twisted violently, followed by a strong shockwave that slammed him against the wall.
He was pinned against a wall, and his body look like this 大
A high-speed, powerful wind formed a "Y" shape that held Chisaki Kai tightly in place.
The black-market heir, known for his strong mental fortitude, was still able to think even while trapped in a dangerous situation.
He pretended to be at a loss and struggled to stretch out his hand, shouting,
"Cough, cough... wait... even if you want to intervene, is there really a need for such violent methods?"
"Aren't you supposed to be heroes?"
Accelerator simply extended one hand to maintain the cage, glancing at Eri, who instinctively huddled in the corner but appeared less frightened. He slightly curled his lips into a sinister smile directed at Chisaki Kai.
"Don't get ahead of yourself. I'm neither a hero nor your pathetic companion."
"If you want to live, you'd better spill all the information you have right here."
He didn't forget to mock the enemy as well.
"You even dare to came all the way here. Even if your brain is good, but you are too confident."
On the side, Lemillion had never witnessed such a scene with the big villain (even against AFO, that person always kept his hands clean), and he awkwardly tried to persuade him.
"…That seems a bit much, doesn't it?"
Midoriya Izuku finally reacted. As a support hero, who stood for [Symbol of Peace], he thought Accelerator's actions were too extreme, but he couldn't come up with a better plan. Instead, he reminded Mirio.
"Lemillion, right now, Accelerator has the command."
"And I agree with what he said."
With that, he positioned himself behind Accelerator, still in front of Eri, fully focused on guarding against their surroundings.
Chisaki Kai originally wanted to use Mirio's caution to escape, but he didn't expect Accelerator to completely ignore his partner's intentions.
He intensified the grip of the "Y"-shaped wind, tightening its hold inch by inch.
He could clearly feel that this so-called newly promoted top hero, [Vector Manipulation], was really planning to kill him if he didn't give up Eri or cooperate by leaking information.
As he struggled to breathe and cold sweat trickled down his face, Accelerator casually threatened him.
"Power is something that's hard to control."
"Do you want to be crushed, you nobody?"
[How did this guy get on the hero's side?!]
Even the brilliantly cunning Chisaki Kai realized he couldn't keep this up.
So he quickly activated his Quirk.
If he couldn't win in a one-on-one fight, then he had to strategically retreat and avoid combat!
The outer wall of the building behind Chisaki Kai turned into countless tiny fragments, which then transformed into sharp concrete spikes that obscured the heroes' view.
[Reformation] is a Quirk that can decompose and reorganize anything it touches. When reorganizing a person, it can even heal injuries and diseases, making it a powerful Quirk that can both "destroy" and "heal."
Of course, because someone defeated the equally unpredictable AFO, Chisaki Kai was very wary of Accelerator.
In this situation, with a lack of necessary information and being alone, Eri was not as important as his own life.
Accelerator noticed that Eri showed a brief sign of trembling when she saw Chisaki use his Quirk.
[Looks like this little girl… has had a tough time.]
"Eri, don't forget. Every action you take is a step toward killing someone. You are cursed. Only I can accept you. Just wait."
In the end, he just threw out those harsh words before choosing to retreat.
Accelerator squinted his eyes, realizing that Eri was still in shock. The most obvious sign was her low tone; she didn't even dare to speak, only shrinking helplessly in the corner with her small hands hugging herself.
As Lemillion was still struggling with, "How could he say something like that to his own child?" Accelerator, looking a bit impatient, spoke to Eri.
"Follow me."
His simple, commanding tone left no room for refusal.
In the face of his attitude, Eri, though momentarily uncertain, obeyed his "command," stopped what she had been doing, stood up, and quietly followed behind Accelerator.
Perhaps because they couldn't keep up with the sudden turn of events, Midoriya and Mirio just stood there, frozen in place.
In short, Accelerator had pretty much figured out why Eri was hesitant to reach out to him.
The unrestrained "malice" he unintentionally exuded was too obvious. The more sensitive a child is, the more they can sense this "malice" coming from Accelerator. Especially children who have been forced to carry overwhelming "fear" or "guilt" since birth—like this little girl who almost seemed out of place in this world.
These children would rather suffer themselves than let others be harmed; they are gentle in their own way.
Accelerator saw himself as someone who couldn't save or comfort others. He figured he'd leave the follow-up to the professionals, just like how he's good at stepping into the darkness alone and tearing it apart.
It took Midoriya and Mirio a moment to snap out of it, then they both asked together.
"Accelerator, where are you planning to take this child? Shouldn't we go to the rescue center first?"
"And... what about patrolling this area?"
Accelerator replied indifferently.
"I'm just taking this kid on a bit of a detour."
"As for patrolling, you two should be enough."
Then he headed straight into the shadowy part of the alley, with young Eri quietly following behind him. Once they were far from the others, though, Eri—strong as she was—was still just a little girl with a heavy shadow cast over her heart.
This time, she took a few quick steps to catch up, tugging on Accelerator's sleeve, and cried out helplessly.
"Why...? You... you can't go..."
"If you're alone... he'll kill you..."
Her clear eyes were filled with genuine worry. It was obvious she thought Chisaki Kai had backed off because he feared the number of heroes. This "hero" who seemed more like a "villain" apparently didn't realize that.
The reason Accelerator had let that masked figure from the medieval-looking group escape was to set a bigger trap.
