Chapter 2: Getting settled in
Few hourse had passed, as Ritsuka was looking at the map, he looked at the world map, there or was the Angel Nation or also know by it's name Kivotos, it was bigger then American and Russia fused together, it was North of each nation, with either entrance by ship or air travel, no land travel was not allowed, worst Part was, no one from the Angel Nation was allowed to permanently move out, do to how big the Nation it self was the concept of Overpopulation didn't exist there, as Ritsuka looked at the clear blue ocean, he then saw a land mass.
Ritsuka squinted his eyes as he saw the landmass in the distance. His mind was still reeling from everything that had happened so far, but the sight of Kivotos—the Angel Nation—was enough to silence his racing thoughts for a moment. The vast, open sea stretched out before him, but ahead, a colossal island began to emerge from the horizon, its towering structures visible even from this distance.
"That's Kivotos," Rin said, appearing beside him. "It's bigger than you probably imagined, isn't it?"
Ritsuka looked at her and then back at the island. The sheer size of it was breathtaking—everything about the land felt otherworldly, from the futuristic skyscrapers to the vast expanses of lush greenery visible on the outskirts. "Yeah, definitely bigger than I thought… But why no land travel? Why is it so restricted?"
Rin's expression grew serious for a moment, her eyes narrowing as she looked at the approaching land. "Kivotos has strict rules for a reason. It's a place of balance and power. Land travel would be... inefficient. Too many people would flood in if we had open borders. And as for leaving, we keep the population in check by controlling who enters and exits. It sounds harsh, but it's the only way to maintain the balance and ensure the nation doesn't collapse under its own weight."
Ritsuka absorbed her words with a faint nod, but there was a part of him that couldn't shake the feeling of being trapped. No one could leave permanently. That was a tough pill to swallow. But then again, with the way Kivotos was structured, it was obvious why such measures were in place. This was a nation where the brightest and most powerful ruled, a place where high school students were more than just students—they were the future of the world.
The ship continued its steady course, and soon enough, Ritsuka could make out the details of the island. The towering spires, the shining streets, and the massive, almost ethereal bridges that seemed to connect one part of the island to another. It was a city that looked like it was from a distant future—perhaps even from a different world entirely.
As the ship approached the docks, Ritsuka felt a strange knot in his stomach. This was where his new life would truly begin. It was one thing to hear about Kivotos, but to actually be here—standing on its shores—was a whole different reality.
Rin turned to him and smiled, her expression softening. "Welcome to Kivotos, Ritsuka. I hope you're ready for everything that comes with it."
Ritsuka gave her a dry look. "Ready? I've been thrown into a tank, put on a battleship, and told I'm supposed to rule or survive in a place full of high school students with halos. So yeah, totally ready."
Rin chuckled. "It's not all that bad, I promise. You'll find your place here, even if it takes some time."
Ritsuka stared at the growing landmass, his eyes focused on the path ahead. "I hope you're right, Rin. Because from where I stand, it feels like I'm just about to get sucked into something much bigger than I can handle."
As the ship docked, the crew began unloading supplies, and the air became charged with the anticipation of a new arrival. The grand city of Kivotos loomed ahead, and for Ritsuka, it was time to face whatever fate had in store for him in this strange, halo-powered world.
And with a final glance at the endless ocean, he stepped off the ship, ready—or as ready as he could be—for whatever awaited him on the other side.
"Let's get this over with," Ritsuka muttered to himself as he followed Rin and the others down the ramp, stepping foot onto the solid ground of Kivotos.
Few hours later, Ritsuka was in the office Ritsuka was looking at Rin
Rin fixed her gloves as she spoke. "Now we are going too awake your Halo".
Ritsuka looked at her as he spoke. "Ok"
Rin then pressed something. "This is only gonna hurt a bit"
Ritsuka blinked as he spoke. "Wait what?".
As he felt ligthing went through all of sense's
Ritsuka's body tensed as a surge of electricity coursed through him, his vision flashing white for a moment. He could feel his muscles locking up, his heartbeat accelerating as he gritted his teeth, trying to stay still.
"Rin!" he gasped out, struggling to find his breath. "What the hell is this?! You said it would hurt a bit!"
Rin's voice was calm, almost too calm, as she adjusted a few dials on the machine beside her. "Relax. It's just the awakening process. The Halo activates through a surge of energy, and your body needs to adjust. If we were in Kivotos a little longer, it wouldn't be this intense. But considering your background, well... this is just a wake-up call for your powers."
Ritsuka's vision blurred as his body shook, his mind fighting to stay conscious. "Powers? What do you mean—powers?!" he croaked.
The lighting in the room flickered with each pulse, and for a moment, it felt like his very soul was being stripped and rebuilt. His legs buckled, and the room spun around him.
Rin's face remained unreadable, even as Ritsuka swayed, barely holding himself up. "The Halo is an essential part of Kivotos' system. It's what grants each person here their abilities. It's like an identity marker, tied to both your strengths and weaknesses. For someone like you, it's going to be... a challenge." She paused as a small smirk tugged at the corners of her lips. "But knowing you, I'm sure you'll manage."
Ritsuka clenched his fists as a jolt shot through his chest, the electricity intensifying. His body felt like it was being torn apart and reassembled simultaneously. His breathing was ragged, and the words "this is just a little bit of pain" echoed in his mind like a cruel joke.
"I swear, when this is over…" he muttered under his breath, but his words were lost in a hiss of static.
Rin remained unfazed, her hands steady as she continued manipulating the machine. "Almost done. Just a little more. Your Halo will synchronize with your system, and you'll be able to feel it. You'll know what it means to have it."
Ritsuka barely heard her over the deafening rush in his ears, but he did feel something shift. Like a switch had been flipped. A sudden rush of power surged within him, filling him with an energy so foreign that it nearly sent him to his knees.
"Okay," Rin said, her voice sharp and clinical. "It's done. You're awake."
Ritsuka gasped for air, his body trembling as the pain slowly subsided. He staggered back a few steps, his hands shaking as he braced himself on a nearby table. Sweat dripped down his forehead, and he looked at Rin, his eyes wide. "I feel—different."
Rin nodded, seemingly satisfied. "You should. The Halo is now activated. It's your marker, your power, and your responsibility. Welcome to the real world of Kivotos, Ritsuka. This is where your journey truly begins."
Ritsuka blinked, his mind racing. The world outside hadn't changed. Kivotos was still strange and alien to him, but now he could feel it—this overwhelming sensation, like his very being was bound to something greater. Something beyond his control. And for the first time since arriving here, he wasn't sure if that was a blessing or a curse.
Ritsuka looked at her as he spoke. "So what do I excitedly get from this".
Homoka then chuckled as her tail flicks as she spoke. "Will here Is the thing everyone gets, super human strength, super human speed, super human reflex, night vision, light vision, highten sense, water breathing, Oxygen creation, semi Immorality, Gun Mastery, invincibility but enough gun fire can nock you out, the power to understand and read and write any Langues, disease immunity, hiper reflex, poison immunity".
Ritsuka blinked, his expression completely deadpan as he processed what Momoka just casually listed off.
"...Did you just say semi-immortality and invincibility like it was a side note?" He rubbed his temples. "And what the hell is light vision?"
Momoka grinned, her tail swaying behind her. "Oh, it just means you can see perfectly even in the brightest conditions. Like, even if you stare directly at the sun, you won't go blind!"
Ritsuka sighed. "Great. That's so useful. Because staring at the sun is definitely something I needed to do more often."
Rin adjusted her glasses as she continued, ignoring his sarcasm. "You also now have an internal translation system, meaning you can fluently speak, read, and write any language, even forgotten ones. This makes communication in Kivotos seamless, as all students possess this ability."
Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "So... I can talk to anyone? Even ancient civilizations?"
"Correct." Rin nodded.
"Neat," Ritsuka muttered, though a part of him already dreaded what kind of chaos this would bring.
Momoka leaned in with a smug grin. "And let's not forget the best part—gun mastery! No matter what firearm you pick up, you'll instinctively know how to use it like a professional!"
Ritsuka gave her a blank stare. "...So you're telling me, every single person in this nation is a walking, talking, gun-wielding super soldier?"
"Yup!" Momoka chirped. "Even little kids!"
Ritsuka pinched the bridge of his nose. "Of course they are."
Rin smiled. "You'll get used to it."
He looked at her, dead inside. "Will I, though?"
Ritsuka looked at them as he spoke. "What does Semi Immorality mean".
Rin fixed her glasses as she spoke. "You will stop again at the age of 24, and get all the perks of Immortality, except".
Momoka then spoke poting at hee Halo. "Except your Halo is destroyed, which means you die".
Ritsuka slowly processed that information before sighing. "So basically, I'm immortal unless someone manages to break this glowing ring above my head?"
Rin nodded. "Yes. Though, breaking a Halo is nearly impossible under normal circumstances."
Momoka smirked. "Yep! But if someone does manage it... well, boom! No more you!"
Ritsuka rolled his eyes. "Great. So I get all the perks of being an overpowered demigod, but I also have a giant glowing weak spot on my head. That totally balances things out."
Momoka shrugged. "Eh, don't worry about it! Halos regenerate if they're only partially damaged. It takes something really extreme to shatter one completely."
Ritsuka sighed. "Right. And let me guess—since I'm your problem now, I have to enroll in all the schools, don't I?"
Rin smiled as if she had been waiting for him to bring it up. "Correct! Since you're the only male student in Kivotos, the Student Council has decided that you should be registered in every academy."
Ritsuka blinked. "Every. Single. One?"
Momoka chuckled. "Yup! Welcome to hell!"
Ritsuka groaned. "Of course."
Ritsuka then spoke as he sighed. "When dad said I was gonna be in role into all the school I thought he was joking".
Rin then spoke. "Not all of them, just the main 14".
Ritsuka sat back in his chair, rubbing his temples. "Fourteen schools. Just why?"
Rin remained composed, adjusting her glasses. "Because Kivotos is unique. Each school has its own strengths, weaknesses, and culture. By attending them all, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of our society."
Momoka grinned. "Also, because Sensei said so~."
Ritsuka sighed. "Of course, he did. Figures my dad would throw me into the deep end without warning."
Sensei, who had been silently sipping his coffee, finally spoke. "You'll be fine, son. Just go with the flow. Besides, you're technically a teacher too."
Ritsuka froze. "...What?"
Rin nodded. "Yes. At Schale, you'll be assisting Sensei in administrative duties. It's a special case, considering your unique background."
Ritsuka blinked. "So let me get this straight—I'm a student at 14 schools, and I'm also a teacher at one of them?"
Momoka clapped. "Exactly! Isn't it exciting?!"
Ritsuka took a deep breath. "Exciting? No. Ridiculous? Yes. I swear, if this ends up turning into some insane harem battle royale situation, I'm quitting."
Rin looked at him with a neutral expression. "I cannot guarantee that it won't."
Ritsuka groaned, already sensing the impending chaos.
Sensei patted his shoulder. "You'll be fine, son. Just remember—smile through the pain."
Ritsuka leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. "I hate it here."
Haine then spoke as she pressed a button. "Now pick your Gun".
Ritsuka saw the wall split as he saw multiple types of fire arm, one that caught his eyes was a Pair of Desert eagle. "Did I get a Weird version of pick your starter Pokémon".
Haine smirked as she gestured to the array of firearms. "In a way, yes. But instead of a Pokémon, you're choosing your weapon. It's not just for show. These are for combat, training, and protection."
Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "I'm supposed to just... choose one?"
Rin stepped forward, adjusting her glasses. "It's not as simple as that. Each weapon has its own traits, and the way you use them will shape your combat style."
Ritsuka looked over the choices again, his eyes eventually landing on the pair of Desert Eagles. "Desert Eagles, huh?"
Momoka leaned in with a grin. "You've got a good eye! Powerful recoil, high damage, and they look cool as hell."
Ritsuka sighed and shrugged. "Well, if I'm gonna be stuck in this weird mess, I might as well go for style points." He stepped forward and grabbed the two Desert Eagles, inspecting them with mild interest. "I guess I'll stick with these."
Haine nodded approvingly. "Good choice. Those are classics. But remember, your skill with them will depend on you, not the gun."
Ritsuka gave her a skeptical look. "Sure, sure. As long as they don't fire at random when I'm not looking, we're good."
Haine smiled darkly. "They won't—unless you make them. But don't let that fool you; they're powerful. Treat them with respect."
Ritsuka holstered the Desert Eagles, feeling the weight of them at his sides. "Well, I guess this is as real as it gets. But seriously, can someone tell me why this feels like I'm playing a weird, high-stakes game?"
Momoka laughed. "Because you are, Ritsuka! Welcome to the Angel Nation!"
Rin nodded again, her face unreadable. "Now that you've made your selection, we should begin the orientation process. There's a lot you need to learn, especially with your new abilities."
Ritsuka couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement mixed with dread. "What have I gotten myself into?" he thought. "Alright, let's just get this over with..."
