Chapter 113: Useless Brain
The tribe of cannibals danced in joy, close to the big fire that they kept feeding wood to. They've lost several people today, but that didn't ruin their mood.
In their own weird way, death was a celebration for them. They celebrated the deaths of their people, and even the death of their enemies, because they believed that people who die were meant to be a delicacy for them.
They've eaten so many people, to the point where they've developed a sort of advanced taste for human flesh. They loved it. Dinosaur meat paled in comparison for them, especially the small scavengers that usually roamed the north lands. Predators didn't taste good, scavengers even less so, but under that same pretext, human flesh shouldn't taste good either, since they mostly ate meat, but it didn't seem to matter. These cannibals had very specific tastes.
On that matter, they've learned over time that the flesh of a cannibal was a delicacy they enjoyed the most, because the taste was so horrid, to the point where it tasted good for them. Their brains were altered beyond fixing at this point, but basically, that was why they celebrated the death of their tribesfolk so aggressively.
They danced, they used bones to tap rocks, creating a sharp, continuous melody that sounded much like a rapidly ticking clock, and they kept dancing for hours.
In other words, Anna had all the time in the world to plot their death. She saw the boulder roll towards them, and much to her luck, the cannibals barely saw it coming.
When they saw it, it was too late! The boulder was a mere second away from them, and then, it hit them, squashing almost the entire tribe in one go! Later on it splashed into the river, poisoning it with blood.
Anna took advantage of the fact that the tribe was dancing around the fire. The tribe had bundled together in one single spot, and the boulder did the rest of the work. It was large, so it headed down a mostly straight path, regardless of the fact that there were plenty of tiny rocks ahead of it, rocks that could have changed its course. Her plan played out beautifully, and efficiently.
Anna then sat down, and tried to catch her breath. She had strained herself beyond comfort while she was pushing the boulder, to the point where she was certain she tore a few of her muscles. She was in pain, she was aching, but she didn't care.
"Heh," She grinned, and afterwards, she passed out.
Most of her enemies were dead. A few cannibals remained, six of them, specifically, and four of them were children. They couldn't fight.
The two adults who were capable of causing harm, took ten minutes to accept the fact that most of their tribe was wiped out. They cried, not because of the loss of their loved ones, but because flattened meat was ruined meat. If their tribesfolk had been killed in a cleaner way, today would be the feast of a lifetime for them, but that was not the case.
The two surviving adults eventually came to their senses, and then looked up at the rocky mountain. They were aware of where this boulder came from, they've seen it many times throughout their life, and now, they looked at the mountain, and tried to figure out if someone had been dumb enough to move the boulder. They were looking for someone to blame!
Eventually, they saw Gaark squatting at where the boulder was supposed to be. They didn't recognize him because he was far away, but they blamed him for this massacre indefinitely! They grabbed their spears, and started running up the mountain.
Gaark was squatting down, because he tried to wake Anna up. She was knocked out cold, and although he didn't understand why she got knocked out, he knew that the best thing for them to do right now was to run. There was no point in fighting the cannibals, because even if he and Anna won the fight, it would hardly matter. These people will eat each other before winter hits, and so the reign of the cannibals across the north lands was already over.
"Anna, come on, wake up!" He shook her. "This is not the time to take a nap, come on!"
When he saw that Anna wasn't waking up, he started to panic. He didn't know if he could kill two cannibals by himself, especially since these particular cannibals were older than him, and therefore a lot bigger, and fatter than him.
They had a clear physical advantage, and beyond that, they also had Dinosaur Strength! He could tell that based on how fast they ran. He wasn't sure if he could beat them.
He did have ten minutes to run away before the cannibals spotted him, but he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, on account to all the human flesh he had eaten over the past five years. He started eating human flesh at fifteen years old, so he hadn't built up as much of a tolerance as these cannibals did, on account to the fact that he hadn't eaten human flesh shortly after birth. He could hold small conversations, he could recognize family, but other than that, his brain was useless.
Nevertheless, he prepared for a battle. He held his spear, and waited for the two cannibals to come.
When they were twenty meters away, or roughly sixty-five feet away, he tossed his spear at them. He heavily miscalculated.
The spear didn't even make it halfway. It just bounced around across the rocks, and it was then rendered useless.
Now, Gaark was defenseless against two, very angry, and buff cannibals. He still believed he had a chance, though, so he grabbed some rocks, and started throwing the rocks at them. His efforts were futile, he didn't hit either one of them.
Just before the cannibals could get to him, he heard a loud thud behind him. He then heard a pile of small rocks rolling his way.
Gaark turned around, and saw the head, or, this large beak of a dinosaur this tribe revered, and sometimes even hunted. He saw a Quetzalcoatlus Northropi, or more specifically, Bonita!
Two men climbed down from Bonita's back. One old, and one young.
Gaark's mind was like a child's messy room right now, it was a mess, but if there was one thing he could recognize, it was family members!
"Jimmy!" He shouted, and excitement was noticeable in his tone. "Jimmy it's me, Gaark! Come help me wake Anna up, Jimmy!"
