BLOOD.FANGS.N'.FIRE

Chapter 61: WHY??: II

"Cough, cough." Florah spilled water out of her mouth, her eyelids flattered, and her hazel eyes came into view.

A gorgeous wet man was her last vision before she fell unconscious again.

Three hours earlier,

The king sat in his study reading several reports at his desk. His hand made its way to the quill, and he signed against the parchment he was done reading.

Beside him was a half empty bottle of blood wine, throwing his head back, he groaned in annoyance.

Filling the whiskey cup yet again, he downed the liquid in one swallow.

He stood up and went to stand by the window, viewing the outside.

In a distance, he saw the young pureblood, Jeremiah Dalton, walking amidst the maze.

He contemplated whether to stay in his study dealing with numerous boring papers or go raffle the feathers of a future Marquess.

He slightly tilted his head, thinking, 'I would just throw the papers into the fire.' He thought to himself and hummed in agreement to his absurd idea.

'Knock, knock' the study door opened, "Forgive my intrusion, sire. It is about..." Before Matthew could finish his statement, Gavriel had already disappeared into a portal, Matthew didn't waste anymore time and also joined the king.

Gavriel appeared in front of a closed wooden door. On the other side of the door, screams of a girl in pain were heard.

Opening the door, Gavriel saw the screaming girl being held down by two female vampires.

But the girl seemed to be growing stronger. The vampire nurses looked at the intruder and shared a silent glance, and let go of the girl.

They backed away from the bed and bowed to the king before making their way to the door.

Gavriel stood there looking at his sister, who had stopped screaming but kept on tossing and turning in the bed.

He knew what this indicated for their situation, but it was just the beginning.

He walked towards the bed, silently casting a spell on the door for it to remain closed.

The closer he got, the lesser Elerah moved on the bed.

Right when he had reached the foot of the bed, Elerah's eyes opened. They looked straight at him, and a sinister smirk made its way to her oval face.

Lifting up her upper body, she chuckled almost like she was delighted that he was there.

"Brother, u came.... Hihihi, " she said, looking straight at him.

Black veins started to appear on her arms as well as under her eyes and her jaws.

The veins looked like black roots that were slithering under the skin.

Elerah took a minute to look at her arms that were changing, and her expression turned sour.

Glaring at the king, she screamed, "WHY, WHY!! GAVRIEL!!!"

Everything shook along with the room as a result of the girl's frustrations.

But the man who was the cause of it just stood there unperturbed by the ruckus.

"HAAAHAHA!!" All of a sudden, Elerah let out a sickeningly loud laugh and lunged at her brother, only missing him by a hair.

Gavriel already expected her to try to hurt him and moved out of the way before she could.

He could predict her every move before she even acted upon it.

The siblings danced a deadly dance across the room, with one aiming to kill and the other evading every move with fluid movements.

Gavriel's actions only infuriated his sister, which made her movements faster and deadlier.

Elerah kicked a nearby chair and broke off one of its legs. Dismantling it into many pieces, she raised her hand and the pieces dispersed around the room.

Pointing towards her brother, the pieces turned black and sped towards Gavriel like small bullets.

The king did nothing but stood there as numerous poisonous sticks pierced and teared through his flesh.

Elerah watched with a malicious expression, enjoying the view of what she had done.

After all the pieces clearly stuck to Gavriel's skin, Elerah said, "Stop fighting, Gav. This is us. This is what we were meant to be"

Raising her arms to emphasize her point, she strutted towards her wounded brother like a prideful lioness.

Gavriel looked at his sister with blank eyes and asked, "What is this, that we were meant to be, Ele?"

Elerah paused for a minute and then said, "What else Gav except powerful!" She announced while holding out her hand into a fist, further deepening the piercing of the wooden into the vampire's skin.

Gavriel watched in silence like he wasn't in any form of pain, but his eyes focused solely on his sister like he was reminiscing something that he had lost.

Before Elerah could even comprehend what was happening, her body started to sway, and sooner rather than later, she hit the floor.

His younger sister had turned into something else because of the selfishness of there so called family.

"We were never meant to be anything dear Ele but rather our mother's tools." He whispered while he carried her to bed.

The wood in his skin was seeping deeper, and soon, the same black veins that were on Elerah's skin earlier now appeared on his skin as well, causing his eyes to change to pitch black.

While he was absentmindedly staring at his sister, the door opened, and without looking, he already knew who it was.

"She is getting better, your Majesty." Matthew stated.

"Tianah has just reported that Her highness couldn't remember some scaring memories like before, and her attacks are less." He continued

Gavriel listened while tucking his sister for her to rest.

"Tell me, Matthew. Is that good?" The king asked
