Chapter 55: REHEARSALS: III
The more she read the play, the more she felt that the situation the play was based on was oddly familiar.
'Was it because such a situation actually happened in the everyday life of some people, or was it because of something else.' Florah drowned in her thoughts.
Just then, the director entered the room and said
"I believe all of you now have an idea of the play. This is a pretty basic but well detailed play. I expect the best from everyone here, as you are all clear with your parts and roles." James instructed strictly, and they all nodded.
"Miss Crest!" James called
An agitated Florah was now the center of attention, "Have you been introduced to everyone?" He asked
Florah simply shook her head, 'no' her composure outside was as cool as ice, but deep down, she felt that water would soon run down her thigh.
"Well, what are you waiting for," He raised a brow in question.
Before Florah could utter an excuse, he continued,
"You will get to know each other on the stage, but briefly, She is 'Sylvia Hunters', the female lead."
"The first ones to rehearse will be the supporting characters 'the Breyttons', then the female lead will meet the male lead next, then the play will naturally flow from there."
"No line is to change, so I expect no improvising.
Remember, our deadline is short, so if you think that you need more time to prepare. Drop out now so I don't have to deal with you later." James rumbled on and on, giving clear and strict instructions to everyone in the room.
When no one moved a muscle, 'clap' the director did so. "I expect nothing less of an outstanding performance, James said.
Jeremiah sat in his room quietly reading a piece of paper. The paper didn't have many words on it, but his eyes sharply focused on it as if to engrave them in his brain.
Earlier, he had heard horse hooves pulling up to the front of the castle.
Peeping through his window, he saw a certain redhead he knew very well enter the carriage after the head butler.
Watching as the horses pulled the carriage out the castle, he whistled softly, and just in a nick of time, a small humming bird appeared by his window.
He looked at the bird, and as if it understood him, it flew towards the departing carriage.
Jeremiah wanted to follow the carriage personally, but he knew he had to be careful.
He hoped the king hadn't figured out anything special about his friend, and he intended to keep a low profile so as not to put both of them in danger.
'Knock knock', "Come in," Jeremiah answered the person at his door.
Moving away from the window, he looked at the door to see who his early morning guest was.
"Pleasant morning, my Lord." Karrina's melodious voice vibrated in the room.
'He must be popular among the ladies to be visited this often,' he thought.
Sitting comfortably on the small sofa in the room, the night robe he wore opened up to reveal his well toned chest.
He looked at the vampiress, not inviting her to sit, but waited for her to state the reason for her visit.
Karrina looked at the vampire, Jeremiah Dalton. No matter how much she observed the man, she failed to understand him.
Every creature, be it the night creatures, werewolves, or the humans that she had meant.
All had a motive for their actions, scheming through life never really thinking of anything else but their goals.
But this man, he seemed to be one of the passive ones, never really showing what his aim was.
She didn't know whether to be wary of him or try to be his acquaintance.
Maybe she should try the latter, given that her father was trying to form a marriage alliance with the man.
So, that was her reason for being here. She would rather be doing anything, but she knew the man whom she called father wouldn't have it any other way.
"My Lord, forgive me for disturbing your peace this early, but l would like to ask something of you if you dont mind?" Karrina put her words very politely.
An impatient Jeremiah was glad that the woman finally spoke, but what was she getting at? He smirked.
"Does it involve ending a life?" He asked playfully.
"Yes, it does," she replied in mirth.
Smiling, he replied "Then am on board. Who is it?" He asked, going along with the act.
"Some hearts, when you are my partner for tonight's ball," Karrina asked, looking directly at his red eyes.
Jeremiah looked at the beautiful vampiress before him and chuckled. Yes, the girl was a beauty, and it would turn heads if the two arrived in tow, given the rumors in circulation.
"Hhahaaa," he chuckled, eyeing the woman, which turned her nervous on the inside.
"What are you wearing? I don't want us to seem uncoordinated." Jeremiah said with mirth
"Red," Karrina replied
"So, what should I wear?" He asked her
"I don't know, but maybe a maroon suit, it will compliment your eyes." She smilingly said.
"Then maroon it is," Jeremiah agreed with her choice.
"Thank you, my Lord. Have a lovely day, and see you then." Karrina bid him goodbye
But before she could get out of his room, he said. "Karrina, since we will spend most of the night together, please call me Jeremiah."
"Ok, Jeremiah," she said as she exited.
Karrina dropped the smile on her face the instant she closed the door behind her.
Heading to her room with a blank face.
Jeremiah looked at the door with a smirk and again asked himself internally, 'Karrina Thornhart, what are you getting at?'
