Blood Nemesis

Chapter 215: Seeding

Root and the rest were busy answering the questions that were displayed on the computer screens. Although they were aware of the orange alert being announced throughout the city, it did not raise any concern for them.

And if there were a cause for concern, the examination would have been postponed.

As such, they did their best to concentrate and continue.

Meanwhile, Root wanted to use his ability and connect with the internet to know the exact information. But he decided against it, knowing that he would be disqualified if he were caught.

A person who cheats on the Hero Academy exam is never given a second chance. Hence, he controlled himself and quickly went through the questions.

For someone like him, the questions were not difficult to answer. With relative ease, he went through the multiple-choice questions and proceeded to the analytics and essay sections.

Meanwhile, the leader of the black clothed men dashed over to East High School.

The sickly, hollow eyes of his occasionally gazed at the beetles flying above. Each time he did that, he also tried to control the swarm, releasing waves of mana into the sky.

However, that didn't work.

The beetles were in a frenzy. They were targeting an individual within the swarm.

At the same time, the response teams from the Hero Union, Hunter Association, Military and SMB approached the eastern side of the city.

A dozen skylances could be seen, splitting air as they zoomed towards the east.

Skylances were advanced aircraft designed to go at a sustained speed of Mach 5. And the ones coming towards the east had B-ranked mech pilots riding them, infusing the outer protective shell with mana.

With the added defence of mana, the aircraft plunged into the middle of the swarm, slicing it apart like a hot knife through butter.

Oliver was like an anchor that held the swarm in one place. Because of releasing his blood to attract their attention, every blood beetle nearby was trying to approach him. Hence, the entire swarm followed suit.

With how densely populated the air around him was, it was the perfect time to drive the Skylances through it.

The military realised it and piloted the supersonic aircraft into it.

In a few seconds, the Skylances, together, killed a couple of thousand blood beetles.

The crushed beetles rained down from the sky, scattering red and black blood all over the ground.

The people below, eliminating the stragglers, were being covered in filth. The leader of the black-clothed men was included.

However, Oliver and the Skylance pilots didn't care about any of that. They continued in their mission to eradicate the swarm.

Like that, a few minutes passed by.

The black clothed, sickly man watched the sky bleakly.

He had initially controlled the beetle swarm by taking control of a small portion of them and using the inherent nature of the swarm to follow the actions of the one in front.

But now, with Oliver disrupting the swarm and attracting them with his blood, the black clothed man failed to regain control.

His deep, black, hollow, lifeless eyes gazed at the golden figure in the sky with a hint of amusement.

From what he heard, the person who was anchoring down the swarm was a hero. An eighteen-year-old young man at that.

Golden fiend was the name the citizens gave him, and he was well known in Dragon City.

"Interesting…" The man smiled.

Taking out his phone, he searched for the kill list embedded inside. It was a list of all human talents that had a bounty on them. Their leader made the list after gathering information from several sources.

"His name is not on it."

The man said and put his phone away.

Those who posed a threat to their cause were marked for execution and offered a bounty. However, the names 'Oliver' or 'Golden Fiend' were not mentioned anywhere in it.

Which either means the person he was seeing was not a threat, or he was someone that has yet to appear on their radar.

The chances of the first possibility being true were almost zero.

Then, it must be the second.

A newly emerged Hero that they have never heard of.

Knowing the Golden Fiend was eighteen years old made him believe that even more.

As a villain working for the Crimson Sun, he had the responsibility to mark down new targets.

From what he had seen, the Golden fiend would undoubtedly become a formidable foe in their mission to achieve world domination.

"I need to send the information back to the boss."

The person thought and turned to look at the East High School compound.

Because of Oliver, the entire area around the school was teeming with superhumans from all kinds of guilds and organisations. They had come to help.

'I won't be able to seed…then.'

*Cough*

The man realised and turned away.

The filthy gore and blood falling from the sky had covered his clothes. He looked like an eerie ghost amongst the superhumans who were killing the stragglers.

Silently, he took one last glance at the sky before walking away.

His mission was to infiltrate Dragon City and infect the participants on the examination list.

Crimson Sun and the demons were working together for this.

The demons had somehow made the swarm he controlled, which was intended for this exact purpose, as a distraction.

However, no one could have predicted what Oliver had done.

With the added security nearby, the black clothed man realised it would be impossible for him to infect the examinees. Hence, he decided to leave and infect those from other examination sites within the city.

Soon, he disappeared from the view of everyone, stealthily leaving to do his job.

Other examination locations within the city included schools and colleges. The black-clothed men who had infiltrated the city had slowly moved to these examination centres.

They were waiting for the exam to end.

Once the exam ends, the security would weaken. Then, they could find the people on their list and infect them.

Why exactly were they doing it?

None of them had a clear idea about that.

And yet, they patiently waited, watching the stragglers and fragments of the swarm fly over them occasionally.
