Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 128: Puppet

Charlotte once wondered how powerful the two major vampire clans controlling the Coria Kingdom were.

After all, to be able to resist the Holy Royal Court's attacks, they must have the power to survive under the siege of the continent's primary Church for millennia.

But when she truly witnessed the power of the two major vampire clans, she was still shocked.

A total of more than thirty Legendary Dukes! The number of Blazing Sun level Earls also exceeded five hundred! And among the remaining mid to low tier, nearly two-thirds were Silver Moon Viscount level vampires!

Just the number of high-tier vampires alone was almost equal to the high-end forces of several core dioceses of the Holy Royal Court!

Obviously, this was the thousand-year accumulation of the Vadret and Salem clans.

That's how it is with the Bloodline, they are long-lived, and as long as they can hang on without dying, their accumulated power will definitely grow stronger over time.

Of course, in reality, various accidents always happen that cause the downfall of vampires, such as the Holy Royal Court's millennia-long purges that have caused heavy losses to nearly every active vampire clan.

But today Charlotte discovered an exception.

The Vadret and Salem clans, the two clans controlling the Coria Kingdom, which have had the most and frequent wars with the Holy Royal Court, actually possessed more high-end power than those vampires that had hidden away!

This power... to be honest, let alone using the Coria Kingdom as a base to resist the Holy Royal Court.

In an age when the gods do not intervene, starting a war directly with the entire Holy Royal Court and conquering half of the continent seemed entirely possible to Charlotte!

Yet, the two major clans did not do so.

Is it the restraint of the Bloodline Prince behind them?

Or is there... some other reason?

"True Ancestor, Your Majesty, we have always been waiting for this day to come, waiting for you to become our leader again. Are you satisfied with our army?"

Salem Della asked respectfully.

His face couldn't hide his pride, but his words were filled with anticipation, and the fervent look in his eyes towards Charlotte made the young woman feel a bit dazed.

It was different from the awe of the Nais Clan, different from the fear of the Shedite Clan, different from the cautiousness and eventual gratitude and submission of the Harcos Clan...

On his face, and even on the faces of those vampires in the "Blood Clan Army" in the square below, there was... and only was fanaticism.

That was an expression Charlotte somewhat missed.

It was the expression from when she crossed through history, leading several major vampire armies to battle against the Old Gods Alliance, those were the looks of her followers.

If she didn't know where she was, she would suspect that those former vampire armies had returned.

Oh, but no.

These vampires in front of her, in terms of inheritance, had indeed evolved from the vampire armies of the past.

It's just that people's hearts change, yet these vampires, even after a thousand years, seemed to have unchanged faith.

But Charlotte didn't simply feel comforted, on the contrary... she felt some confusion in her heart.

After all, in the records of various classics, the Vadret and Salem clans were the two major clans that first betrayed the Blood True Ancestor, and it was they who initiated the split of the vampires.

After hearing about Charlotte's matters back then, they even tried to infiltrate the Castel Domain, though there was no follow-up, unknown as to why.

This is contradictory.

If they initiated the split, why are they now so invigorated? It's like... they have long known this day would come, long anticipated Charlotte's arrival.

"True Ancestor... Your Majesty?"

Watching the silent Charlotte, Salem Clan's Great Elder Della called out respectfully.

Charlotte gathered her thoughts and nodded slightly:

"Not bad."

Receiving acknowledgment, the eyes of Della and the other vampires brightened, like children receiving praise from a parent.

And Charlotte looked at the nearby Black Dragon Odosia:

"I see they have all changed into the thorny rose pattern on their uniforms, did you prepare this in advance?"

"It was a unanimous decision by the elders of the two clans; upon knowing of your return, they decided to reinstate your Holy Emblem, after all... they are your most devoted believers."

Odosia said.

Lies.

This was Charlotte's first thought.

Even though Odosia spoke earnestly, and despite the genuine respect and fervor from the vampires in front of her...

This was something Charlotte was very sure of, because as someone who had become a True God, even away from the Dark Night Ancient Castle, she could, to a certain extent, hear the thoughts of these "descendants," knowing that they really respected her.

However...

She did not feel their faith.

They are not her believers.

Of course, to bluntly say Odosia lied would be inappropriate as well, as she and the other party were bound by a contract, and the other party could not deceive her.

Charlotte believed that the faith of these vampires before her lay with someone else.

They followed the True Ancestor with fervor, but their faith was not in her, the True Ancestor.

For a moment, the figure of Lilith surfaced again in Charlotte's mind.

"Is it still you they believe in?"

Charlotte murmured in her heart.

If that were the case, perhaps it all made sense.

Such a large vampire army is not something anyone can maintain, especially during the era when the Holy Royal Court's gods were rising up, to stand against these gods was a daunting task.

However, if there was a powerful presence quietly supporting them, it would be different.

But if the Vadret and Salem clans were indeed the handiwork of Lilith, why would she maintain such a large vampire army and then give it to her, what was her purpose?

In a time when the Holy Royal Court and the vampires were no longer enemies, whom would they now contend against?

Furthermore, aside from her as an "Otherworldly person," everyone else in Mireya Continent had forgotten Lilith's name.

If even the name and existence had been forgotten, why does the faith still remain?

Or perhaps, the destination of their faith was not Lilith, but intercepted by something else, or perhaps it went to their prince?

With this thought, Charlotte was even more eager to meet the princes of the two clans.

She had a mythical intuition that meeting the princes of the Vadret Clan and the Salem Clan might solve her doubts.

"Indeed, even after a thousand years, you still maintain the honor of the Bloodline Army, but... where are your princes? Even if they are hurt, they should come out to greet me now, shouldn't they?"

Charlotte asked.

Hearing her words, the bloodlines of the two clans looked at each other.

In the end, it was Drado who boldly stood out and said:

"Your Majesty, True Ancestor, we have reported your arrival to the Grand Duke, but... there has been no response, perhaps they are still asleep..."

They?

Charlotte slightly raised an eyebrow.

She sank her awareness to feel, but... she did not perceive any mythical aura. Moreover, although the only two remaining "suns" in the Crimson Star Sea stirred her heart more strongly, as if they were nearby, Charlotte still received no response.

"Where are they?"

Charlotte asked.

"Please follow me; they are in the forbidden area of the Royal Capital. No bloodline has the right to enter, not even I, except... you. Odosia said.

Soon, she respectfully gestured for Charlotte to proceed.

Charlotte glanced at her, shaking her head:

"Odosia, you who have recovered your memory have also become mysterious, not as cute as before."

Odosia stiffened but did not reply, merely bowing respectfully and leading the way.

Seeing her behave so, Charlotte felt somewhat uninterested but followed her.

Passing through the castle of the bloodlines, Charlotte quickly arrived before a massive stone gate amidst the crowd of high-tier bloodlines.

The stone gate was majestic and imposing, adorned with intricate bloodline emblems and engravings, protected by layers of magic barriers, exuding an ancient and time-worn aura.

And upon seeing this stone gate, Charlotte's Divine Fire began to surge wildly, and her bloodline resonated with a mysterious response.

In the depths of her consciousness, one of the only two remaining "suns" in the Crimson Star Sea burst into unprecedented brilliance.

One of the remaining princes is inside!

Charlotte's heart stirred.

However, even though Charlotte had reached the gate, no bloodline prince emerged from within.

Even as Charlotte released her aura, not hiding her presence.

The Great Elder Drado of the Salem Clan was a bit embarrassed. He hesitated for a moment, contemplating knocking on the door, but Charlotte quickly stopped him:

"No need; I'll go in myself."

With that, Charlotte lightly touched the door, and the heavy stone gate slowly opened under the crimson light.

Charlotte stepped forward, walking in.

The scene shifted, magic power flowed, a familiar sensation of space dislocation.

And when the scene before her eyes clarified again, Charlotte was stunned.

She found herself in the Dark Night Ancient Castle.

Not the Dark Night Ancient Castle of her spiritual world.

But an identical one, located in a different space, in the "real world" sense.

The black stone walls were the same solemn and aged as always, the crimson Blood Throne stood atop layers of steps, even the engravings on the walls matched those in Charlotte's spiritual world, depicting the legend of the True Ancestor and her deeds after returning.

The "sun" in the ocean of consciousness was quiet, but Charlotte's expression grew solemn.

The Blood Throne was empty, but beside it stood two tall statues, one on each side.

These were two puppets covered with cracks.

Each bore the emblems of the Vadret Clan and the Salem Clan, and their aura far surpassed the legendary, almost reaching the level of demigods.

Their attire was identical to what Charlotte had seen in Lilith's memory, worn by the bloodline princes when they served as legion commanders.

In an instant, Charlotte realized that they were what Drado and others referred to as the Grand Duke!

Puppets!

It turned out that the myths of the Vadret Clan and the Salem Clan were not genuine demigods, but puppets as powerful as demigods!

An upheaval surged in Charlotte's heart as she instantly understood why the bloodlines called them "Lord Grand Duke."

Because they were mere puppets, not demigods, and could not be referred to as "Your Majesty"!

Slightly exhaling, Charlotte stepped toward the throne.

Ascending the steps, Charlotte arrived before the throne.

The two puppets remained unresponsive.

No, it should be said they could no longer react at all. In Charlotte's perception, they had lost their spiritual light, leaving only power behind.

They had lost their intelligence, could no longer move, and naturally could no longer respond to the bloodlines of the two clans.

Charlotte's gaze naturally fell upon the Blood Throne.

At the center of the throne lay an envelope, adorned with the pattern of a thorny rose.

With a slight flick of her finger, Charlotte drew the envelope into her hand, and upon seeing the text on the envelope, her gaze turned serious.

The envelope was crimson, with golden text, in a block shape:

"Charlotte de Castel, to be opened personally."

That was in Chinese.
