Chapter 3: Demon wolf forest
Chapter 2
The moment Lin Shen entered the wolf demon forest, a cold, unsettling breeze brushed against his skin, The ancient trees rose high into the sky, their twisted branches forming a canopy that covered the forest in shadow.
He stood still, his eyes scanning the area for other participants, but there was non. It seemed everyone had arrived at different locations. Exhaling deeply, Lin shen moved forward, exploring the forest, but his peace didn't last long.
Lin Shen's heart hammered in his chest he saw wolves approach him from behind the bushes, without wasting a second , he sprinted through the dense forest, his breath ragged and panicked. The ground beneath him trembled with the heavy footsteps of the wolves in pursuit. Six of them, their glowing eyes fixed on him, teeth bared and claws scraping the earth as they moved with terrifying speed.
He had no weapon, the few spells he learnt were not enough to defeat this demon wolves, and from what he knew, they weren't afraid of fire, so scaring them away with fire was out of the question. All he had was Just his raw strength and agility. The trees around him seemed like nothing but blur, and the air was thick with the sound of his quick breaths and the pounding of paws behind him.
A wolf lunged, snapping its jaws just inches from his ankle. Lin Shen dove to the side, his body twisting mid-air as he hit the ground and rolled. Pain shot up his arm as his shoulder slammed into a tree trunk. He pushed himself up, ignoring the pain, only to see another wolf coming at him from the left. He grabbed a nearby branch, using it to shove the creature away just as its teeth aimed for his throat.
His hands scraped against the dirt as he tried to dodge another attack, his elbows slightly bruised and bloodied, and a sharp pain throbbed from his head where he had hit the ground earlier. He barely had time to think before a wolf lunged again, its powerful jaws snapping. Lin Shen barely had time to react, spinning to face it and putting the branch between them. The wolf's teeth closed around the wood with a sharp crack, and Lin Shen grunted as he shoved the beast away, his muscles straining with the effort.
With a roar of frustration, the wolf staggered back, but Lin Shen had no time to catch his breath. Another wolf was right behind him, its claws slashing through the air. His arm was suddenly seized by sharp claws, and he cried out in pain as they tore into his flesh. His body jerked in shock, the pain spiking through him, but there was no time to focus on the wound. With a desperate growl, Lin Shen spun, twisting his body as he ripped himself free of the wolf's grip and flung it to the ground.
He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up. His legs were burning from running, his breath growing more ragged with every passing second. The wolves weren't just fast—they were strong, and they were relentless. Each of them could tear him apart with ease if they caught him.
A familiar sharp sound broke through the air, a low growl that sent a shiver down his spine. He looked up, his eyes searching for the next move, only to see another wolf coming straight at him from above. Without thinking, he launched himself to the side, diving toward the nearest tree. He slammed into the trunk, nearly losing his balance, but using the momentum, he pushed himself up to his feet and scrambled for higher ground.
His hands were shaking now, his fingers slick with sweat and blood as he grabbed onto branches. His feet slipped once, and for a brief moment, fear gripped him, but he refused to fall. He was determined to pass this trial at all cost, and he was going to survive through this no matter what. With a grunt, Lin Shen climbed higher, his body screaming with exhaustion, but he pushed it all aside. He could still hear the wolves below, their growls a constant reminder that he wasn't safe yet.
His wounds burned with every movement—his elbow and palm scraped, blood trickling down his hand and dripping from the fresh wound on his arm where the wolf had clawed him. His chest heaved as he reached a thick branch, the highest he could go without risking falling. But even then, his mind raced. He had no magic strong enough to defeat these beasts.
His breath was shaky, uneven, his muscles trembling as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. He could still hear them below, sniffing at the base of the tree, pacing, waiting. He held his breath, praying they wouldn't notice him.
His eyes darted down to his arm, the blood pooling in his sleeve. He cursed under his breath. He knew that it was only a matter of time before he'd run out of strength. He tore a strip of cloth from his shirt and wrapped it around the gash on his arm, the pain making his hand tremble as he tied it tight. His eyes darted back to the wolves. They hadn't moved.
But then, his heart nearly stopped.
One of the wolves, the largest of them all, its fur purple, lifted its head. Its red eyes locked onto Lin Shen's, and for a moment, the world seemed to freeze. Lin Shen's chest tightened. This wasn't good. The wolf wasn't just sniffing around—it was studying him, waiting for its opportunity.
And then, the wolf tensed, muscles coiling like a spring.
Lin Shen's breath caught in his throat.
The wolf's powerful legs exploded with force, and in an instant, it leaped toward him, soaring higher than any wolf should. Lin Shen's eyes widened as it came hurtling toward him, claws outstretched and teeth bared, a vicious snarl escaping its throat as it came down like a thunderstorm.
His heart raced, there was no way he could outrun it now. The distance was too short, and he was too tired.
His blood ran cold as the wolf descended, it's claw aimed directly at him, it's sharp teeth grinding together as it neared it's target.
