Chapter 328: Find a Way to Deal with the Black Spirit
At this moment, the blonde man started to mock everyone in a sarcastic and accusatory tone.
"This guy's abilities are clearly stronger than any of ours. I saw him use spatial teleportation to save you just now."
"He has this incredible ability, but he didn't use it to save Fasius when our leader needed help. Shouldn't he be the one we're blaming here?"
Hearing this provocative comment, Raymond immediately stepped forward and warned the blonde man sternly.
"You need to say less right now. If Uehara Shiroha decides to attack you again, I may not be able to stop him this time."
It seems that this threat was still effective. The blonde man immediately shut his mouth and didn't dare to say anything more inflammatory.
Raymond looked at the assembled group of surviving team members, then addressed Uehara Shiroha directly.
"Now that Fasius is dead, you should become our new captain and leader."
"Among all the remaining people here, you clearly possess the strongest abilities and the best tactical thinking."
Uehara Shiroha looked around at the small group of people surrounding him. Judging from their current reduced strength and morale, it would be completely unrealistic to expect them to deal with that massive monster outside using conventional tactics.
So Uehara Shiroha opened his mouth to respond thoughtfully.
"I think the most important thing right now is not to decide who should be the captain, but rather to figure out an effective way to deal with that creature."
"Did any of you notice something important just now? That creature didn't pursue us when we retreated."
"It seems to be operating under some kind of specific mission parameters, and its primary target appears to be the dimensional crack itself."
The people around him nodded in agreement with his observation.
"Yes, that's exactly right. I looked back when we were running away. It didn't chase after us at all. Instead, it turned around and continued systematically destroying and widening the cracks."
"But what could possibly be the purpose behind this behavior? Is it simply trying to allow more high-level Hollows to enter the outer circle?"
Everyone was genuinely curious about what the ultimate goal of this massive creature outside could be.
Uehara Shiroha boldly put forward his own carefully considered theory.
"Do you think it's possible that creature's range of movement and activity is somehow limited to that specific area?"
"The reason it didn't chase after us when we fled wasn't because it didn't want to pursue us, but because it literally couldn't leave that zone."
This theory sounded genuinely intriguing, and no one had ever proposed anything like it before during their previous encounters.
Although Uehara Shiroha had developed his own hypothesis, in order to properly verify this potentially crucial idea, they would need at least one person to conduct a dangerous test.
The major problem now was that if they wanted to perform this test, someone would have to volunteer to put themselves in significant danger.
Uehara Shiroha asked the group tentatively, knowing how risky his request would sound.
"I can't guarantee that my theory is correct yet, so we need someone to conduct a field test of this hypothesis."
"If we can confirm that this creature truly cannot leave its designated area of operation, it will become much easier to deal with it once we know the exact boundaries of its territory."
"Who among us would be willing to volunteer for this mission?"
After hearing what Uehara Shiroha had proposed, all the companions who had been very eager and active just moments before suddenly lowered their heads and avoided eye contact.
Obviously, none of these people wanted to gamble with their own lives on an unproven theory.
If Uehara Shiroha's guess turned out to be correct, then this test would be completely safe and straightforward. However, if his theory was wrong, the person conducting the test would most likely never return alive.
Chiying stepped forward slowly and spoke to Uehara Shiroha with determined resolve.
"I'll go and test your theory. If you hadn't saved my life back there, I would already be dead right now anyway."
"I'm willing to verify this hypothesis for everyone's benefit."
When he heard that someone was actually willing to volunteer, the blonde man was the first to step forward and voice his enthusiastic agreement.
"Yes, I think it's perfectly fine for her to go. She has the lowest combat ability among all of us. Even if something terrible happens to her, the impact on our overall fighting strength will be minimal."
"Besides, Chiying should have no problem dealing with one or two low-level Hollows if she encounters them during the test."
The callous way the blonde man spoke about Chiying's potential death made Uehara Shiroha's anger flare up again, but he forced himself to stay focused on the larger strategic picture they were facing.
