Chapter 130 – The Third Dilemma
Magic—its strength and rank are divided into levels known as "Domains."
Zero is the highest, and Nine is the lowest.
The Zero Domain.
This is the domain of the strongest of the strong.
Those who reach it are exceedingly rare.
Even within the Clover Kingdom, there was only one known wielder of this level: Wizard King Julius Novachrono.
Captains like Yami or Nozel? At most, they hovered around Second or Third Domain.
So the Zero Domain…
To most, it wasn't even a goal. It was a myth.
"You're kidding, right? Ethan is in the Zero Domain now?"
"What the hell did this guy eat growing up?"
"He hasn't even been around that long! This is just insane..."
The others around him could barely process it.
Especially Asta and Yuno, who had come to the capital with Ethan.
Shock was clear on both their faces—stunned speechless.
It hadn't even been a full two years since all this began.
"Amazing… I honestly don't know what else to say,"
Yami clapped slowly, lighting one of his signature smokes.
Ethan wasn't technically part of the Black Bulls, but he'd spent more time with them than anywhere else.
Yami had personally watched his growth—step by step.
But… it really was too fast.
Asta had no magic, so measuring him by Domain didn't make much sense. But factoring in his demon form, he was roughly at Captain-level strength.
Yuno—called a genius by all—had risen from Seventh Domain to Fourth (when not fused with Sylph) in two years.
But Ethan? He had leapfrogged straight to the top.
"Ahem... That's actually why this works out," Julius said, expression darkening.
"Because my third issue is this: Either the Clover Kingdom will be destroyed…
Or Ethan… you will die."
His words made everyone freeze.
Ethan… would die?
Ethan himself blinked.
"You sure you got that right? Me, dying? That doesn't sound like—"
He stopped mid-sentence.
Right.
In the original timeline, Julius had used time magic to foresee Asta's potential death.
But this world?
This world had already diverged too far from the "original."
Like a storm at sea veering a ship off-course, the timeline had changed beyond recognition.
"You're not joking, right? Ethan dying? He's a Zero Domain mage—who could even kill him?"
"Yeah! Is there anyone stronger than Zero Domain?"
"C'mon, Julius, don't mess around. This isn't funny anymore."
Everyone was skeptical—even Yami.
Zero Domain might be abstract to civilians…
But they had witnessed Ethan's power firsthand.
He had slashed down a demon like it was nothing. Who the hell could go toe-to-toe with that?
Julius shook his head slowly.
"I'm not sure. All I know is this: At the moment of my rebirth, I saw a vision through time magic…
A moment—brief and unclear—of your death. I couldn't make out when or where…
Could be tomorrow… could be ten years from now.
But what I saw was a man… with a dragon tattoo on the back of his hand.
When you see him… it may be your end."
Ethan smirked, relaxed as ever.
"Well, people who get killed tend to die. Even gods can't change that.
Maybe your vision was right.
But if that day comes, maybe I'll be the one doing the killing."
Julius smiled, visibly relieved.
Power made you a strong person. That much was true.
But a true stronger needed inner strength to match—or surpass—their outer might.
If someone wielded such strength but had the heart of tofu, they were bound to break.
"Well then… next up—Asta. You're up."
"...Huh? Me?"
Asta blinked in confusion.
"Yes, you.
In the war, you performed incredibly, even standing your ground against a demon.
But tell me—do you really understand the power you're using?"
Power?
Asta frowned and looked down at his hands.
"I… didn't, at first.
But Ethan once told me…
That while the fourth leaf of a clover contains fortune, the fifth leaf harbors a demon.
And me… the power I've been using all along…
It's demonic."
The room fell into silence at the word "demon."
It was, after all, demons who had left the kingdom in ruins.
And yet… it was also demon power that had helped them defend it.
It was a complicated feeling.
Julius nodded slightly.
"You're not wrong. But the demon in you… it's interesting.
It hasn't destroyed—
It's saved lives.
Still… you need to be prepared."
"Prepared… for what?"
Julius sighed.
"This whole catastrophe was caused by demons.
And now, you—a peasant—wield a power no one understands.
Which makes you the perfect scapegoat.
The Magic Parliament will put you on trial."
Asta stumbled back a step in shock.
"Trial?
But… I didn't do anything wrong…"
Near him, Ethan scoffed.
"Hah… classic noble and royal drama."
"The Magic Parliament? Just a bunch of crusty aristocrats putting on a show.
Asta—you don't need to worry. As your captain… I've got your back."
"Ethan…!"
Stars practically sparkled in Asta's eyes as he stared at Ethan with unfiltered admiration.
The others, meanwhile, looked a little awkward.
After all, aside from Yuno and Yami, everyone else in the room was nobility or royalty themselves.
Wasn't Ethan just indirectly insulting all of them?
But still… he wasn't wrong.
It was all just a show.
The outcome had already been decided. The "trial" was just the formality.
Julius tried to interject:
"Ethan, don't be rash. The Magic Parliament is one of the kingdom's highest authorities—
It represents the nation.
Trust me, I'll try to mediate—"
Ethan cut him off with a chuckle.
"Mediate? You think that'll work?"
"Well, whatever.
If I'm part of this kingdom, and the Parliament wants to judge someone, fine.
I'll show up."
He smirked.
"I'd like to see how they plan to pass judgment on a hero who bled and nearly died for their damn country."
