Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Ice Creation Magic - Ocean
"Trash?"
Freed from the oppressive magic, the pig-headed noble finally caught his breath. When he saw the magic book in Qin Yu's hand, shimmering like crystal ice with only a single leaf, he roared furiously.
"You, a lowly vagrant, dare call us trash? A single-leaf grimoire and you think you can act wild here? Everyone, attack! Whoever kills him, I'll reward ten gold coins!"
Ten gold coins!
This immense wealth instantly triggered the greed in everyone's hearts.
Especially since, in their understanding, the strength of a mage is measured by the number of leaves on their grimoire.
The single-leaf clover grimoire in Hei Yu's hand caused them to forget the terrifying magical pressure they had just experienced.
"Kill him!"
"A mere vagrant—his death will go unpunished!"
"Don't let him escape!"
The cries of battle exploded throughout the massive magic tower.
Dozens of people charged toward Hei Yu.
However, they had only just received their grimoires and were clearly unfamiliar with them, let alone skilled in their use.
In Hei Yu's eyes, they were nothing more than a ragtag bunch—not even worth mentioning.
Facing the overwhelming charge, Hei Yu suddenly raised his head, his eyes gleaming with an intense, icy light.
Reaching into the void with his right hand, the crystalline magic book floated in front of him.
As if moved by an unseen wind, its pages rapidly flipped open.
The first page bore a name: Gray Fullbuster!
A name belonging to a member of Fairy Tail. According to the system's implanted stream of information, Hei Yu knew that this single-leaf grimoire was only the beginning.
A bone-chilling coldness spread instantly as the grimoire opened, causing the temperature within the vast magic tower to plummet.
The elder who presided over the tower turned pale, shouting urgently, "Run, quickly! That boy is dangerous!"
His alarmed cry echoed abruptly, leaving the pig-headed noble leading the charge momentarily stunned. Before they could react, they were struck by Hei Yu's words, which shook their nerves.
"Too late!"
"Ice Creation Magic: Ocean!"
The resolute words flowed from Hei Yu's lips.
In an instant, biting cold winds erupted from the magic book before him, radiating dazzling white light.
With both hands thrust downward, Hei Yu unleashed a raging wave of icy wind like a stormy tide.
Whoosh!
The cold winds surged; frost filled the air!
Everything in its path—be it the charging commoners or the so-called nobles—was frozen solid in this bone-chilling storm.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, they were instantly encased in ice, unable to withstand even a single blow.
In moments, the area within a radius of dozens of meters around Hei Yu had become an icy wasteland.
Even the walls of the tower were entirely coated in frost.
Fortunately, those who had merely been observing the grimoire-awarding ceremony and hadn't joined the attack were spared.
"To wield magic so effortlessly upon receiving a grimoire, with mana of the highest tier and such precise control... who on earth is this boy?" The elderly master of the tower stared in disbelief at the frozen spectacle.
He seemed to have forgotten about saving the commoners and nobles who were now ice sculptures.
As for the surrounding onlookers, they too were dumbstruck by what they had just witnessed.
Hei Yu's display had completely overshadowed Yuno's four-leaf clover brilliance.
"Trash is trash. Not worth mentioning," Hei Yu muttered, putting the magic book away with a flick of his hand.
His gaze briefly fell on Asta and Yuno before he turned and walked away.
Though his show of power was impressive, the explosion of mana and his first use of magic had left Hei Yu drained. His stomach growled loudly.
Meanwhile, not far from the magic tower, a golden streak of light sped across the sky.
The light left a series of afterimages in its wake before suddenly halting midair.
As the golden glow faded, a middle-aged man in a regal red outfit emerged.
If anyone had been there, they would have surely cried out the name of the Wizard King.
With deep, penetrating eyes, he gazed toward the magic tower.
A hint of surprise appeared on his sharply defined features as he raised an eyebrow and said, "Such powerful magical energy! I didn't expect to find something like this in such a small place."
"This level of mana could rival that of a vice-captain of the Magic Knight Squads. Today is the grimoire-awarding ceremony—could it be a promising new talent?"
"Or perhaps a rare type of magic!"
Excited by the thought, the Wizard King revealed his usual quirky curiosity-driven grin and sped off toward the magic tower.
He even dismissed a magical communication attempt from his trusted aide, Marx, snapping the link without hesitation.
