Bizarre Honkai, a Wife-Chasing Crematorium

Chapter 67: Chiba Academy, The Haunted Dorm

MEI seemed… dissatisfied. Li Mo sighed. Her "punishment" consisted of ordering him to rest for half a day, to stop thinking about Bizarre entity. As if that were possible.

He watched the TV, his mind elsewhere, replaying the dream. Kiana and him, their relationship effortless and natural. MEI, relegated to the role of supportive best friend.

The dream had progressed to their enrollment at St. Freya. The "Funeral" had taken place there as well. He needed to analyze the remaining details carefully. So far, no Bizarre entity had appeared in the dream world. Which made sense.

The Bizarre entity hadn't awakened until Kiana became the Herrscher of the Finality. If the dream continued at this pace, he'd know the full story tonight.

MEI glanced at him, his apparent attentiveness a facade. He was just like those students who pretended to listen in class while their minds wandered elsewhere.

She sighed, picking at the breakfast he'd made. It was delicious, but she couldn't enjoy it. Too sweet. The sugar provided energy, but she felt strangely drained.

"I'm done," she said, turning off the TV. "Going back to my room."

Li Mo barely registered her departure. He washed the dishes, grabbed his black backpack, and headed towards the cave. He needed to retrieve the Head Ghost.

He paused at the cave's entrance, the darkness within a gaping maw. Once you entered, there was no turning back. Perhaps that's why it had remained undiscovered for so long. Like a bungee jumping spot with zero negative reviews.

Anyone who'd had a bad experience wasn't around to share it.

He retrieved the Head Ghost, examining it carefully. "I thought you were cute before. Not so much anymore. Hopefully, you'll prove useful someday. Otherwise, bringing you here was a waste of effort."

The rotting, reeking Head Ghost: "..."

He sealed it tightly in his backpack and retraced his steps from the previous day. To any observer, he was just a guy with a backpack, nothing unusual.

He paused at the alley, but the ghost seemed to be gone. He wondered if there had been any incidents in the area. If so, he'd need to investigate.

As he passed Chiba Academy, he saw police cars and investigators swarming the grounds. Six bodies, covered in white sheets, were carried out. MEI hadn't contacted him, so it probably wasn't Bizarre-related.

"I heard all six victims were from the same dorm room…"

"Seriously? Is it connected to those ghost stories on the forum? Are there really ghosts in our school?" The speaker sounded skeptical. Chiba Academy's dorms weren't luxurious, designed for less affluent students, but they were decent enough. And there were no stories of prior deaths or vengeful spirits.

"Who knows? I don't live on campus, so I'm not worried."

"Still, it's creepy. Six people in one room? Maybe it was poison? How else could they all die overnight?"

Li Mo's ears perked up. If they were all from the same dorm, an Bizarre Entity was likely involved. He'd check the Chiba Academy forum when he got home.

He returned to the villa. Pardofelis was holed up in Elysia's room, living her best NEET life. MEI was in her room, doing… whatever MEI did.

He left the Head Ghost in a corner of his room and opened his laptop, navigating to the Chiba Academy forum.

Two of the three pinned posts were about the deaths. The third was some irrelevant gossip.

He scanned the posts, searching for clues. After a while, he'd gleaned a few basic facts:

* Dorms were six-person rooms, with bunk beds.

* No private bathrooms, just a sink and a mirror.

* Communal bathrooms at the end of the hall.

* Twelve rooms per floor, close together.

* The hallway lights flickered, a persistent issue despite reported repairs. No one complained much, as dorm fees were practically nonexistent.

* The dorm supervisor's room was near the stairs. Room checks were conducted between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM, followed by a mandatory power outage.

Overall, fairly standard. No strict rules against phones or anything. And the power outage was a joke. Every student had a power bank.

"Flickering lights…" Li Mo mused. "Not faulty wiring. Something's turning them off." A prestigious academy wouldn't ignore a simple electrical issue, especially in a hallway. The lights were probably fine until something interfered.

"But turning off the lights isn't the killing condition. If it were, everyone would be dead. All the dorms are dark at night."

He kept scrolling, but the sheer volume of posts was overwhelming. Mostly girls gossiping about their day, their meals, their club activities… He couldn't even filter the posts, as he didn't know when the Bizarre entity had first appeared.

Thousands of pages. He'd be here all day.

"Here." A cool voice startled him. MEI stood behind him, holding a USB drive.

"Everything you need is on here."

"Thanks. The Head Ghost is in the corner. Be careful with it. Don't kill it. Resetting is a pain."

"I know what I'm doing." MEI picked up the Head Ghost and left, Pardofelis's voice echoing through his headset.

"Mo-bro still at it? Dr. MEI, you need to rest. Twenty hours a day is not sustainable."

"Solving this quickly will help him. He risked his life for this. I won't waste his efforts." MEI entered the lab.

Li Mo plugged in the USB drive. It contained every post related to the Chiba Academy ghost stories. But unlike the chaotic forum, MEI had organized everything, highlighting key information and adding relevant photos, enhanced for clarity.

The first document:

SadPigIntestines: "I found a torn piece of paper! Written in blood!"

SadPigIntestines: "It's probably red ink. Does it have some stupid 'do this or die' rule? Fake news. Unless you post a picture."

SadPigIntestines: image.jpg

Li Mo clicked on the image. Just as described, a torn piece of paper with messy, crimson writing. But the messiness was… too uniform. Not human.

[After a long day of studying, students have returned to their dorms to rest. To maintain a healthy sleep schedule, please adhere to the following rules.]

"Just one sentence?"

MEI had included a second image. Another torn piece of paper, the same handwriting.

[Finally, please adjust your sleep schedules and rest well. I hope to see you all tomorrow morning.]

[Oh, you're all dead. Too bad… ]

"A sick joke? No. MEI wouldn't include these unless she thought they were relevant." He trusted her judgment implicitly.

The first post was from two weeks ago. The second, a week ago.

The second document:

SadPigIntestines: "It's calling my name! I can't see its face! The hallway lights are out!!"

SiberianTRexVsMiniTurtle: "Lol, found a crazy schoolmate on the forum at this hour. Which dorm are you in? I'll come play."

SadPigIntestines: "207! Hurry! I don't want to die! It's said my name twice! I don't know what to do!"

SiberianTRexVsMiniTurtle: "The hallway lights are fine? Are you messing with me? I'm right outside 207. No one here. And no one's calling your name. I'm looking through your window. Why is everyone asleep? No phones allowed? Hello? Are you there?"

SadPigIntestines (10 minutes later):** "The door's unlocked. You can come in…"

"The tone changed." Li Mo frowned. The initial posts were frantic, desperate. Then, a sudden shift.

SadPigIntestines was dead. Killed within those ten minutes. And now, *it* was trying to lure someone else into room 207.

The final image in the second document was a compilation of SiberianTRexVsMiniTurtle's posts, with timestamps. For a month and a half, he'd been active every single day. But after that last exchange with SadPigIntestines, his account went silent. His profile picture grayed out.

Li Mo's expression grew grim. The chosen room was isolated. Entering meant certain death unless you survived until morning. He wasn't sure if resetting would work from inside the room. If not, he was walking into a death trap.

"The first document hints at the Bizzare's type. The second shows its behavior. What's the third?" MEI was efficient, but sifting through all those forum posts must have taken time.

"There's definitely an Bizarre Entity in the dorms. Maybe more than one…"

"After I deal with this, I should take MEI to the amusement park. She needs a break."

He opened the third document. A single, gruesome image. Timestamped 10:50 PM last night. Twenty minutes after lights out.

The dorm doors didn't have peepholes. To confirm the occupants, the dorm supervisor would have to look through the window.

The photo showed the dorm supervisor, her face… blank. Even with the phone's flashlight at full brightness, her features remained shrouded in shadow.

"But room checks end at 10:30. Why would she be there at 10:50? And who would be stupid enough to shine a light on a ghost?"

The photographer was dead, obviously. And the photo was never posted. If the ghost could mimic a human, it would have deleted the image.

MEI must have accessed the victim's phone through official channels, retrieving the deleted photo from the recycle bin.
