New Book Announcement + Reader Surprise
New Book Announcement + Reader Surprise at the End
We are very close to the end of Volume 1 of Bitstream, and if you've made it this far, I owe you a mountain of cookies and a quiet thank-you for sticking with me through every data twist and neon turn.
We've essentially reached the midpoint of Bitstream, and while the final half promises all the cyberpunk chaos you've come to expect – with a few strange surprises if you've been watching the breadcrumbs – I wanted to take a moment to look forward. You've probably noticed the little bunny page-break recently and wondered what that was all about. The truth is this:
Bitstream is not alone.
It's the first novel in The Warren Saga – a sprawling, interconnected series of superepic-length stories spanning genres from cyberpunk and fantasy to LitRPG, dieselpunk, and beyond. Each entry carries a common thread: the rabbit. Sometimes literal, sometimes symbolic, sometimes something far stranger.
And the next tale in the saga is this:
If the Sky Breaks
If the Sky Breaks is unlike anything I've ever written before – an ode to steampunk and magipunk, where brass and mana collide. Two cities divided by a towering, grinding Gearwall: Maxwell, a city of scholars and skyglass, and Reach, a crumbling undercity where warmth is stolen and hope runs on fumes.
At the heart of it all is Mila Steele (yes, Steele), a young dreamer with oily hands and a mind full of impossible machines. When a stolen blueprint promises a way through the barrier that's kept her people down for generations, she and her ragtag crew climb into the belly of the beast, gears, steam, and all. It follows a structure very similar to Arcane, but I've always wanted to tackle something of that size and write it my own way. It's also the most complex work I've ever written, and I can't wait to release it as the second book of The Warren Saga. The cover art will be revealed soon, and the release date should be late this year, early next year.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Also, Bitstream will still be getting weekly updates and will take priority. Speaking of Bitstream, briefly on that:
What to Expect in Volume 2?:
• More art. I already have the ending of the novel artistically rendered, including the final bossfight, and it looks awesome. Ideally, I'd like every important character to get defining artwork. If you have any requests, let me know.
• More bossfights.
• General 'weirdness'. I have a narrative thread in mind that not many will see coming, but it's been foreshadowed from the start, from Day 1, and will really push the boundaries of what is typical of Cyberpunk.
• Clashing destinies. At some point, Rhea and Isolde will have to clash, and only one can come out on top.
• The final bossfight is already set in stone, and it will represent everything Bitstream is about: memory, identity, pain, love, the price of freedom, and the question of whether a broken person can truly be whole again.
• One big plot twist, and several smaller ones.
Future plans:
• A very long Bitstream comic book (or series of smaller comic books). The other option is a continuous webcomic.
• Fully edited paperback novel with some reimagined scenes. (This will happen regardless.)
Reader Surprise:
For the readers that have been sticking with the story since day one, there's a very special piece of artwork waiting at the end of Bitstream, just for you. The Warren Saga wouldn't exist without the penguins that hold it up, and I remember every 'Thanks for the chapter', even if I don't reply. I'm sure you will love the artwork very much, and I spared no penny getting it done. I truly appreciate every one of you. Even if some of you don't stick around the full distance, I'll be sure to notify you once its released.
Thanks, that's all folks.
