Billionaire: Money and Power

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 – "The Silent War"

Shadows Move in Silence

Joshua sat in his office, fingers tapping rhythmically on the desk. The meeting with Adebayo still played in his mind. The man wasn't bluffing—there were forces far more powerful than Umaru operating in the shadows. Forces that had now turned their eyes on him.

Tunde entered, shutting the door behind him. "I checked. Adebayo isn't a ghost, but he's close. No public records, no digital footprint. Whoever he is, he's been wiping his existence for years."

Joshua smirked. "That just confirms what we already knew. He's connected to the people running things from the dark."

Tunde crossed his arms. "And he gave you a warning."

Joshua leaned back. "Not a warning. A challenge."

Adisa, sitting on the couch, let out a chuckle. "And I assume you're not going to back down?"

Joshua's eyes darkened. "Backing down isn't an option."

Amara walked in just in time to hear that. "It never is with you, is it?"

Joshua turned to her. "No. It's not."

She sighed, but there was no stopping him, and she knew it.

Tunde sat down. "Alright, so what's the plan? You've pissed off some of the most powerful people in the country, and now they're coming for you in ways you won't see."

Joshua exhaled. "We fight them the same way they fight us—silently."

The First Strike

By the next morning, Joshua was already working behind the scenes.

Step one: Expose the cracks in their armor.

Tunde had been digging. "Umaru is tied to offshore accounts, shady business deals, and, most interestingly—he's funding a certain governor's re-election campaign. If that gets out…"

Joshua smirked. "Then Umaru becomes a liability to his own allies."

Adisa grinned. "I love it when the enemy fights itself."

They prepared the leaks. Carefully placed whispers in the right media circles. Anonymous reports sent to rival politicians. Within hours, the news began to spread.

By afternoon, social media was buzzing.

By evening, Umaru's camp was in full damage control.

By midnight, his allies started pulling away.

And that was just the beginning.

A Silent Message

Joshua arrived at his penthouse that night, exhausted but satisfied. The first blow had landed.

He stepped into the dimly lit living room—then stopped.

A single envelope lay on the coffee table.

His eyes narrowed. No one should have been able to enter unnoticed.

Tunde and Adisa had been with him all day. Amara had left earlier. The security system was intact.

Yet, someone had been here.

Joshua slowly picked up the envelope. Inside, a single note.

"You're playing well. Let's see how far you can go."

No name. No signature.

Just a silent message.

Joshua smirked, but there was no amusement in his eyes.

The real war had begun.
