Beyond the Bloodline

Chapter 50-Avalore Mountain

“Good. Things are still the same as they were 20,000 years ago.”

He casually spoke of a time when not even the grandfathers of the people present were born, before clapping his hands and activating a teleportation spell.

The Lorelith Clan’s Sovereigns who had accompanied them could not even react when the spatial law energy surrounded their bodies and teleported them all to the city centre, passing through all the defensive barriers on the way.

When they suddenly appeared in the middle of the city square, the people who were present there were naturally startled, especially since the energy rolling off the Sovereigns' bodies gave them chills.

The other Legendary and Sovereign realm existences in the city sensed their presence and some of them came out to find out what was happening, arriving just in time to hear Jamie speak.

“Get everyone who’s below the Legendary Realm out of this city square; the universal law energy concentration of what I’m about to do would kill them if they’re nearby.”

Without hesitation, the Sovereigns moved and gave out orders, and in less than five minutes, the hundreds of people in the square had been moved out.

The Sovereigns in the city naturally had questions, starting from Jamie’s identity to what he wanted to do, but after seeing the young Vampire Quintet’s uniforms and being told it was ‘Crimson Court Business’ they backed away without question.

No one wanted to mess with the Council that Ruled the Continent they were living in after all.

“Lord Jamie, mind if I ask exactly what you’re looking for?”

Wanete asked the question on the minds of all those who were present, but Jamie only remained silent, walking up to the monument in the middle of the city and waving his hand.

The ‘space’ occupied by the monument was displaced and shifted all the way over to the edge of the city square.

He then walked into the now empty space and infused magic power into his legs, so much that his energy circuits manifested on his skin like blue glowing veins.

The others could not see this phenomenon because of his trousers though.

‘My three major existential aspects: My Soul, Body (Vessel) and Energy Core have had their maximum parameters reduced, or rather, the maximum parameters I can access at the moment are reduced.

I’d have to do things in a way where I increase all three of them at the same time, so things can be balanced out and stable.

Not like I can ever have instability problems, given I’m an Envoy of ‘Balance’, but it's best to be on the safe side…nothing is impossible in the Cosmos.’

With those thoughts in his mind, Jamie stomped his foot onto the ground, causing an omnidirectional surge of energy to flow through the ground, from the centre of the city to the edges of the mountain, and from top to bottom.

The eyes of all those present, especially the city’s inhabitants, widened in shock as a massive network of interconnected magic formations spread out under their feet.

None of them, even those who had lived here for over a century, had known that such an intricate magic circuit network lay within the mountain, so their being shocked at this discovery was only natural.

“Now then, it begins.”

“Wait, it hasn’t started yet?!”

David’s retort rang out before the loud sound of thunder, as the skies above the mountain suddenly darkened and the dense universal law energy in the atmosphere began thrumming.

A massive transparent dome-shaped barrier surrounded the entire mountain, cutting off every form of connection with the rest of the world outside, and naturally startling the powerhouses who were in the Vampire’s Academy of Erudition nearby.

“Hey, Wanete. Isn’t that your Faculty’s Dean?”

“That’s my Head of Department right there!”

The twins joked around while pointing at the figures they could see hovering in the sky outside the barrier when suddenly, they felt a familiar surge of spatial energy wrap around them.

“Lord Jamie?”

Davina called out to the Hybrid with her head tilted slightly, but it did not take her even half a second to remember that he had just spoken about something along the lines of ‘universal law energy concentration killing those below Legend status’.

Immediately after, the ambient energies around them, be it magic, ether, aura, prana and so on, were all dyed with the spatial attribute, swirling around towards the skies.

The clouds spiralled into a blue vortex that swirled downwards, the two spiralling masses of energy colliding mid-way and forming a massive pillar that connected the sky to the ground.

There was no explosion of energy upon collision as one would expect, but the effects of the collision were clear for all to see, as even the Legendary Realm existences still in the city square dropped to their knees weakly, while some of the weaker Sovereigns had difficulty breathing.

It was as if someone took a chunk out of the energy concentration in the void of space outside the planet’s atmosphere, and compressed it into that small city square.

The energy was very pure, dense, and had a high pressure level, so much that anyone who could not control universal law energies to protect themselves would feel like their bodies and souls were drowning in the sea of energy.

“I guess I was probably in the phase where I wanted things to be ‘flashy’ so I could show off when I created this.”

“Created?!”

One of the Sovereigns couldn’t help but voice out his shocked thought, as he alternated his gaze between Jamie and the pillar of energy that was swirling in front of them multiple times.

“Now then…”

As Jamie spoke, the space around them turned strange, seemingly stagnant—if that was even the word to use.

Jamie held his hand up and ‘grabbed’ the empty space in front of him, and as if he was pulling a wallpaper off a wall, he ‘pulled’ a sheet of the space in front of him off, and opened a small patchway into a blank void.

“Flashy much, old me.”

With a chuckle, he stretched his hand into the small patch in space and moved it around for a bit, before grabbing onto something inside it and pulling it out.

All eyes turned towards the object in his hand, as the instant he brought it out of that patch, the energy concentration in the area tripled, so much that even the Legendary Realms were almost on the floor due to the pressure.

Spiderweb-like cracks spread out on the ground as the entire mountain trembled slightly, while the Sovereigns pushed the Legendries out of the city square, having to physically grab them to do this as they could not even emit an iota of energy from their bodies.

“That…orb…”

Wanete, one of the lucky few who did not feel the drowning sensation that plagued the legendries, given she was under Jamie’s protection, muttered those two words out loud, and Jamie completed the statement before she could say anymore

“-Is the source of the abundant energy of knowledge on this mountain. A little something that I kept here for emergencies.”

The orb in Jamie’s hand was basically a mass of power that the Hybrid had stored away in case he was in a situation where he lost power like now.

‘Too bad I cannot absorb everything inside it at once.’

He sighed in light exasperation, before letting go of the orb and making it float in the air. He then proceeded to remove his blazer, his watch and bracelets, moving them over to Davina and speaking.

“Hold those for me. I’d be right back.”

Immediately after, he grabbed the orb once more and kicked off the ground, jumping towards the skies and into the swirling pillar of blue energy.

The Hybrid’s body disappeared into the vortex, along with the increased energy concentration that was threatening the mountain’s integrity.

Of course, he left the patch in space open, and David had a hard time resisting the temptation to stick his hand into it.

◇ ◇ ◇

Jamie reappeared inside a white-walled hall, looking around it to see a few old chairs and tables, along with a normal non-magi-tech television set and some other things.

He moved around and checked to see if there was anything of value, but besides the bags of Epic-grade weapons and magic stones, there was nothing of note.

“This was one of my failed attempts at creating a pocket-dimensional realm. It’s only about 100 by 100 metres wide…so small.”

It was very questionable if such a pocket dimension could even be considered a ‘failed attempt’ but by now, we should know that Jamie’s standards were out of the norm so don’t dwell too much on it.

He shrugged his shoulders lightly and held up the orb in his hands, the grey essence of the law of knowledge flowing out of it in the form of a mist that slowly began seeping into his body.
