Being Reincarnated with my Beast King System

Chapter 54: Different Perspectives 2

*King Mathias's POV*

As I sat in my throne room listening to another report, I drummed my fingers against the armrest of my seat. The reports were monotonous, about taxes, land disputes, and politics. Truly, the worst thing about being a King is having to actually be the King.

Every day since I was crowned, there has been more work. Sometimes, I want to see the things I envisioned as a child or when I was growing into my adolescence become reality, but then I open my eyes and see reality for what it is.

Nothing but hard work and regret. I lost my son due to his obsession over my best friends daughter. I lost my wife, the one who knew me the best to complications during childbirth. My daughter all but refuses to talk to me after the last suitor I brought to the castle to meet her. I can't even get mad at her as the man ended up trying to force her into his bed with aphrodisiacs.

I rubbed my forehead and waved my hand signaling for the servant in front of me to stop speaking.

"That is enough for today, resume the report when we convene tomorrow."

Saying that I did not wait for any response from them and stood to leave the room. I paused slightly for a moment looking over to the castellan of my castle and asked where I could find my daughter.

"Gary, have you seen her lately?"

"Yes your Majesty, I last saw the crown princess with her beast companions in the beast enclosure."

He spoke evenly without any fluctuations, but I could tell he was eager to give me the information about my daughter. He had worked for my family for the last 120 years making him the longest standing employee of the Kingdom. He had seen more things in this castle then even I have, so I know he wanted to see my daughter and I rekindle our relationship.

With a nod of my head I left quickly.

Heading directly to the Beast Sanctuary or the beast enclosure, whatever you choose to call it, I walked with a brisk pace. I had heard from Byron the other day and he explained that Axel had a few things to take care of before coming to the capital. Being the understanding king I am, I had no problem with that, mainly it was because I wanted to repair the relationship between my daughter and myself.

I may have also wanted her to see Axel and give her opinion on the young man.

Seeing my destination ahead I took a deep breath to steady my nerves. I let a small chuckle out at the irony of the situation. Me, a king is nervous to talk to his own daughter. I could only imagine the type of ridicule I would receive if people were to know this.

*Princess Evangeline Libertine's POV*

Feeling a presence getting closer to our sanctuary, all of my companions went on alert till they noticed a familiar aura. It was my father, I could smell the sandalwood cologne coming off of him from here and he hadn't even come within 50 meters of me.

I looked up to watch him approach while my shadow panther lifted its head from the ground behind me to look at my father with a deep look. My shadow panther is the strongest of all of my beast companions at the equivalent of a lord level cultivator. She was enough to make most people wary but I saw the look on my fathers face prompting me to lay a gently hand on her massive head to allow him to approach.

"It is ok Hailey, let him approach, I doubt he would try and force another suitor on me after the last time."

"That doesn't matter to me Eva, you are the only thing that matters to me... If I fond that he is bringing another man around to try and pair you I will personally castrate the suitor..."

Hailey the Shadow Panther, my loyal companion who I had inherited from my mother when she passed. Hailey swore that day she would let no harm come to me. To this day she has kept the promise from that fateful day.

My father slowed as he approached. Looking at me for a second I saw the ghost of a smile on his face before he looked at Hailey with genuine respect.

"Eva, Hailey, the rest of you... It is good to see you..."

"Father, why have you come here?"

Skipping the pleasantries I directly asked his purpose for coming here. This place had literally become my personal sanctuary for my beast and myself. I had even moved my bedroom to a secluded section of the area. It was in an area that only beast could reach making it the safest place in the entire capital.

I watched as my fathers face tensed before he seemed to deflate slightly.

"I wish you would not talk so harshly with me..."

"Father..."

"Fine, I wanted you to know that your brother was captured and his execution has been set... I wasn't going to sentence him to death but the severity of his crimes go beyond my saving him... he was working with someone to start the recent beast tide trying to force us into a war with the beasts. He was doing it all so he could try and kidnap Silvara Tempest once again."

I was stunned slightly when I heard Blakes's crimes. I know he had always been obsessed with Silvara even going as far as trying to kidnap her and force her into a relationship with him in the past. I just couldn't bring myself to wrap my head around the fact that he had fallen so far. I could even feel Hailey's astonishment at the entire situation.

"Was sister Silvara harmed during any of this?"

I watched as my father took another deep breath while nodding his head in affirmation.

"Yes... Her mother and your brother worked together to infest her with Love Parasites. Luckily your Uncle Byron was able to extract all of the eggs and parasites. It was really hard on her because she almost lost the man that she had fallen head over heels for..."

"What? Silvara went through all of that? And what is this about her having a man?"

I admit I was being a bit over excited but since that time awhile ago I hadn't even seen my best friend or heard from her in the last 6 months. Silvara herself had been trying to reach out consistently about 5 months ago until I told her to leave me alone and never talk to me. It is something that I still regret to this day, I should have never lashed out at her.

My father had a small smile at my outburst and in his eyes I could see the undying love that a father has for his children. I could see his warmth and security he exuded when he was talking with me.

"Yes, the man that seems to have won her heart is named Axel Wolf. From everything that Byron has told me about the boy, he seems to be an amazing young man. He is polite and kind but doesn't hesitate to your his strength if need be. He apparently has a Fenrir and a Blazing Lion as his beast companions as well. He was also the one that found your brother and helped Byron and Darren curb the majority of the beast tide."

I arched an eyebrow at that. He seemed to be someone interesting. I had to admit my interest was peaked. He not only gained the love of Silvara the woman known to reject all suitors, but he has also tamed some seriously amazing beast. Just taming a Fenrir or Blazing Lion could be seen as something that happens only once a century.

"He seems to be quite the man, I hope that Silvara is happy with him."

I gave a measured response after schooling my expression, I could tell that I was getting to excited and needed to temper my emotions again. The last time I let myself get excited was the day that my father had brought that man here to act as a suitor for me. That ended with Hailey literally ripping the mans head off.

My father frowned slightly hearing my words. I know he felt bad for what happened back then, but I just cant trust anyone except for my beast companions.

"Eva, I want you to meet them when they come here. Before you refuse, this is an order... I need my daughter there to help me stay in check... Please help me be my eyes and ears... I need you to come back to me... I miss you so much..."

I listened and watched as my father broke down into tears in front of me. I didn't say anything as I moved forward slowly and wrapped my arms around him. I could feel the tumultuous emotions inside of him. I had to think for a moment and realized quickly how selfish I had been, I hadn't thought about how everything was affecting my father. My mother always told me that my father was an emotional wreck...

"I will be there daddy..."

I whispered to him making his tears come even harder as he squeezed me tighter crying on my shoulder...
