Becoming the Wasteland Overlord With My Harem System!

Chapter 151: Swift Work

The "bodyguards" that came with Axel underwent a great change in composition.

From fifteen, only ten of them remained now. This wasn't due to weird reasons at all, but simply to allow them all to fit comfortably inside Axel's Humvee.

Of the ten, however, three were princesses.

This fact alone was enough of a burden for him. If, for whatever reason, he led them to their deaths... the consequences were too severe to even imagine.

'Rather, is this fucking fine with you, Queen Wisteria?!' Axel cursed in his mind. 'I'm basically bringing around all your daughters, going to places where their lives are nothing but a speck of dust!'

Only Teruria, who was back at his camp, was missing in the all-princess-meet!

Although he was worried for the Queendom's future, at the same time, he was thankful.

Compared to the Elite Witches, the princesses were dozens of times more powerful.

As such, even though their numbers got reduced by a third, their fighting power should've at least doubled instead of weakening!

"Well, fuck that. Let's go!"

Axel summoned the Humvee, throwing his worries out the window.

"Whatever happens will happen!" he muttered.

With fewer of them, everyone could sit comfortably in the car.

Axel sat in the driver's seat, with Princess Ethernina in the passenger seat. Behind them, Princess Penelope and Princess Gwyneth silently sat, along with the other elite witches.

As for Fenrir... she was still bedridden.

Although roughly eighteen hours had passed by then, she remained asleep, in a sort of coma, for some unknown reason. The witch doctor of the fortress, Francesca, said it was nothing to worry about—just simple overfatigue. So although he had misgivings, Axel convinced himself it truly was so.

After everyone settled in, Axel drove off, the engine roaring as they went.

"Demons ahead. Rosaria!"

And not long after they left, monsters appeared.

The red zone lived up to its name with how dangerous it was, but more than that, Fenrir and Vulcanus's fight the day before had stirred the entire place awake.

Thus, the spawn interval for demons through miasma became shorter.

"Leave it to me, Princess!" Rosaria responded excitedly, standing up at Nina's command.

With a short chant, she cast an AoE death curse ahead. A simple attack, minimizing mana consumption, and keeping the range limited only to where the monsters stood.

But with the equipment Axel gave them, boosting the curse's effects, the Death Curse had a 100% kill rate. No demon survived that single cast!

"Good," Axel nodded. "I'll leave the cleanup to you girls. I'll just be driving straight ahead!"

Ethernina handled enemy detection and map navigation.

Penelope took charge of who to let attack, allowing a balanced cycle of mana use and recovery.

The rest focused on eliminating any demons that got in their way.

With their teamwork, traveling went smoothly. Almost too smooth.

In less than half an hour of driving at top speed, Axel reached a small fortress—the same one they fixed before, but where Vulcanus had interrupted them.

"It's still in one piece, fortunately..." Axel muttered.

Though, of course, it was damaged—partially melted—after the battle that started there. Even the teleportation array was broken at present.

Axel stopped the Humvee, stepped out, and touched a part of the fortress. Soon enough, a popup appeared.

He didn't even look at the price, as the duration was just a single second to fix.

"Repair!"

At his shout, the entire fortress began fixing itself, glowing mysteriously. And just like that, in a flash, it was back to normal. As soon as he was done, he turned to his troops and commanded:

"Nina, check the teleporter and send someone over to protect this place. The rest, clean up the demons nearby."

"Yes!"

Of course, no one present would question his orders.

The girls moved like one big living being, sweeping through the surroundings. With their efforts, all demons lurking within a kilometer of the fortress were killed on sight.

Nina returned after checking the teleporter and called for someone to manage the fortress. All of this ended in just a quarter of an hour.

Normally speaking, this was quick progress, no doubt.

But Axel, wandering outside the fortress, frowned. "Still too slow..."

It took them an hour to cover a hundred kilometers, rebuilding a small fortress along the way. They were just one-tenth of the way to the next major fortress!

At this pace, they would reach the target long past nightfall.

However, Axel was in a rush to finish his job and return. He already spent roughly a week in this dimension, and his quest was still far from completed. The "resources" he left back at the camp would've been long depleted, given the sudden increase in their numbers.

More than that, Axel just couldn't sit still.

'I got a bad feeling about this... I need to return to where Eve and the rest are, as soon as possible.'

But to do that, even at the fastest, he'd need two days.

Axel prayed nothing bad would happen until then...

"Sir Axel, we're done."

Nina, finishing her task, returned to his side.

"Everyone completed their task and is ready to depart!"

"Wonderful..." Axel nodded, praising without meaning it. "Then, let's set off. We still have a lot of fortresses to fix along the way."

"Y-Yes!"

After the girls boarded the Humvee, they departed without delay.

Killing demons along the way and stopping to repair all the minor fortresses they passed, their work continued without rest.

Thankfully, the demons at this site were weaker compared to those near Hrimvalr. If one at that level appeared here, without Fenrir to rely on, Axel would be forced to face it himself.

Soon enough, the sun had set.

Axel reached the last small fortress and was just a few dozen kilometers away from the second major fortress he needed to repair.

Everyone thought they would rest at that small fortress and resume the final stretch the next day, but...

"No, we'll set off now."

Axel had different plans.
