Becoming an Accidental God in a New World

Chapter 63: Ch 63- The Shopkeeper can Help - Part 6

The duchess had given me a two-day grace period to pack and get my affairs in order. That felt like nearly no time for me to mentally prepare myself.

Duchess Isabella Lilly told me that she would like to leave in "two days preferably" and to "tell her if I want to change things," but that was just her being polite.

I could tell that she wanted me to agree to the initial date.

And I did not want to cause her any trouble, so I agreed. And as for my affairs…? They were mostly looking after the claw machine (I would have to depend on the station master) and handling my regulars.

Since I had no way to contact the latter party, I would just have to take my chances.

Luckily for me, one of the people I needed to inform decided to seek me out himself.

Officer Henry entered the shop with the same confident air as he always did. Fenrir was alert as soon as he sensed the huge man.

But for the first time, Fenrir did not attack outright and instead smelled the air before calming down.

"Master, I like this person. He smells like me and loyalty. You should keep this man close. Not those other witches who might betray you."

Fenrir told me as he settled down under my table to keep me company and stay out of public view.

The puppy was getting larger at an alarming rate, and I was afraid that he wouldn't be able to fit under my desk at this rate.

"Shopkeeper, sorry for such a late visit, but I finally got time to deliver the blood samples I told you about. I would have gotten them even quicker, but things just got hectic and needed my attention. Of course, you know everything about that, right?"

Officer Henry asked me with a small laugh in his words.

In his hand was a small glass tube that had a few drops of blood. I tried to recall what that blood was for before something stirred in the back of my mind.

'Oh yeah—! I did tell the officer that I would be able to test for someone's allergies. Let me see.'

I extended my hand toward the glass tube slowly, and Officer Henry noticed and handed it to me.

"Give me some time. I need to analyze it to see what the allergy is from. Fenrir, please keep our guest entertained in the meantime."

I told the pup, and he gave an excited sound. Officer Henry paused to look at the dire wolf at my feet with a hesitant look, so I did my best to reassure him that Fenrir was safe.

"Don't worry about Fenrir. He has been fully trained and will not bite… unless you give him a reason to."

Officer Henry calmed down once he heard what I said, and his eyes softened as well.

"Is that… so? I guess I will take your words for it. Not that I can do anything else at the moment."

Henry told me with a slight, awkward smile on his face. I pretended I did not notice and instead went into the side room where I needed to send the sample to the system.

I opened my system screen, and it gave me a small box to put the sample into. The test was going to take 10 minutes to get results, and I waited.

Once the tests were done, the results were in. And it was just as I expected—the child was allergic to just one type of plant pollen that appeared when seasons changed.

There was also a slight allergy to milk, but it was negligible enough to not bother… unless the child somehow found himself ingesting huge amounts of milk.

As for the solution? Generally, there was no solution to allergies, and your body could decide to outgrow them at some point.

But the system was different. It had a solution for the allergies and also provided me with a synthesized cure.

The small packet weighed almost 5 grams, and the white powder reminded me of narcotic drugs… or powdered sugar.

But I knew that it must be the solution to the allergies.

When I went out, Fenrir was in a staring contest with Officer Henry. The older man had a serious look on his face as his eyes tried to dig holes in Fenrir's head, but Fenrir only barked and looked back at him.

The stalemate ended when I entered and gave Officer Henry the white powder.

"Here, this should help the patien— I mean, the cursed person. They need to boil some in water and take it three times a day for seven days. They should be cured after that."

I told the officer, and he looked thankful that I had given him such a good solution.

"Thank you, shopkeeper. I owe you for another thing now. I vow that I will find a way to repay you for all of this someday. And you, little one, take care of yourself. Make sure to grow up well."

Officer Henry looked at Fenrir as he spoke before he left with a determined look on his face.

I turned to look at Fenrir as well, and he looked amused.

"Master, I don't think that man could understand all of what I said, but he was funny. As I said, you should keep him around more."

Fenrir seemed to have made up his mind about this, so I pretended to hear his words from one ear and let them out from the other.

"Alright, now that the day is over, I should see what is left behind and what I can do about the food so that it does not get spoiled."

I looked at the pantry, and I had a few more vegetables than I would be able to finish. So I decided to pickle them.

As soon as morning came, I cleaned up all the extra vegetables and piled them up in part of the attic (I had no idea this place had an attic or why it was clean) to let them dry out.

The sunlight was strong, so I was not worried about them drying out either.

And then, I went back to working downstairs and entertaining guests. Nothing of note happened. Even Miss Shirley did not stop by to gossip about anything.

The only thing that was different today was the massive traffic in the shop.

Due to the duchess's open visit, the news about my shop had spread, and most "tourists" who entered came here just to look around and cause trouble.

Thankfully, it was a self-help shop with not much to do, so they were not able to cause half as much trouble as they wanted to.

Most people left disappointed that they were not able to see the duchess, despite taking time out of their busy schedules.

But if they were here for such insignificant reasons, then not only had they missed the right day, but also their reason for coming here. Did people truly have that much time to waste?

'Well, that is none of my business. I think I'll check up on the claw machine tomorrow when I head out to meet the duchess.'
