Become A Character Who Dies Within Three Chapters

Chapter 66: Anomaly

"All right, that's how it all went," Louis explained to Sylus how he had escaped.

Sylus stared blankly at him, nodding nonstop, until he suddenly asked, "So you won't leave again, right?"

Of course, I will leave. I'll even go to another world. Louis thought to himself, but for now, he could only nod. "Of course. But first, let's talk about you—what exactly are you planning to do?"

Sylus looked at Louis in confusion, but Louis didn't allow him to explain. His voice turned cold: "Don't think I don't know what you're plotting. Do you really intend to destroy this world?"

Sylus widened his eyes at Louis, looking utterly dumbfounded, as if he couldn't understand how Louis had guessed his intentions.

But in the end, he quietly said, "I only thought of doing that because I felt nothing was interesting left in this world…"

Louis honestly wanted to roll his eyes. Just for that reason, to wipe out the world of countless ordinary people? He honestly couldn't comprehend how Sylus's mind worked.

"Sylus, no matter what you've been through, living well today is what matters most—"

But Sylus cut him off: "But now that you've returned, I don't think this world is all that bad."

Louis shivered, instinctively asking, "So what exactly have you remembered?"

Sylus softly replied, "I remember everything."

Louis's expression grew heavy. "Back then, I only tricked you to shatter your illusion about Athena."

Sylus nodded with a "Yeah, I know."

After that, he arranged a place for Louis to stay and even promised to buy him ten houses. It was as if they had never been separated at all. 666 was overjoyed and exclaimed, "So that's it. In the end, we need to get Aboli under control! Host, you really are invincible—men or women, all fall before you!"

Louis: "Yes, I truly am perfect. But… something about this feels off."

Deep in his heart, he knew Sylus shouldn't be this easygoing. The fact that he suddenly agreed so readily made Louis feel as if he were secretly plotting something even more dangerous.

666: "My lord, you're overthinking it. I can see the sincerity in Sylus's eyes!"

Louis: "..." Talking to this two-year-old system really wastes time.

The next morning, before Louis even opened his eyes, he felt a gaze fixed intently on him.

He frowned, and sure enough, the moment he opened his eyes, Sylus stood right at the head of his bed, staring down at him.

His long hair was a bit messy, and ,he looked like some ghostly apparition in the dim room.

Louis jolted, and at the same time, 666 shrieked in his mind: "A ghost! A ghost! Host, it's a ghost!"

Damn it, what kind of system is scared of ghosts?!

Louis stared at Sylus and said in a low voice, "Early in the morning—who exactly are you trying to scare?"

Sylus tilted his head. "I just wanted to make sure I wasn't dreaming..."

"The bruises on your face still haven't faded," Louis said coldly.

Sylus laughed, then vanished as swiftly as a phantom.

Louis watched the door close in front of him, his brows furrowing.

That same morning, at a small farm on the outskirts of Zone 10—

Clang!

A glass of milk crashed to the floor. Felix, about to leave for work, rushed over immediately, frowning at Julia. "What's going on?!"

Julia stared blankly at Felix, her voice soft. "Lily… Lily's gone..."

Felix frowned at that, but in the end, he only said, "Forget it. She can take care of herself."

Julia frowned back at him. "How can you say that? Lily's just a child!"

Felix sneered. "A child who clings to Lucian? She's clearly not normal. So stop worrying about her—let's live our lives."

Julia murmured, "But what if she's in danger?"

Felix scoffed. "Don't you find it strange how your illness suddenly disappeared, even though we never even went to the doctor? There's no such thing as pure luck in this world." With that, he turned and walked away.

He didn't want to stay with these people, but his world was small—he only knew them. He would try to take care of them, as a community or even as a family, at least in that sense.

He disliked Lily. She clung to Lucian, her scent dangerous and unsettling, yet Julia treated her like a treasure, as though she had entrusted her spirit to Lily after the deaths of her siblings.

Felix turned to Julia and said in a deep voice, "Even if someone leaves our lives, we still have to live. Julia, have you ever lived for yourself? Those who are gone can't come back. Live your own life."

Julia watched Felix's figure grow distant. She clenched her fists, her heart aching beyond what she could bear.

Silent tears streamed from her eyes, hot—so hot they felt like they could burn her hands.

"But they… they are my life…" came the soft, painful murmur.

"Sylus, did you just cut off my communication access?"

Louis looked coldly at Sylus, who was sitting at his desk.

Sylus always seemed busy, working tirelessly all day to suppress the dissatisfied voices around him.

Louis even felt that if order truly needed to be reestablished, all the scheming old foxes in Zone 1 should be eliminated—and it seemed Sylus was doing precisely that.

Yet what concerned Louis most was Sylus's growing strangeness.

Sylus lifted his head to meet Louis's gaze and nodded matter-of-factly. "Yes. You only need to communicate with me. How could anyone else possibly be of help to you?"

Louis couldn't help but laugh at that. "I only play with them and don't need their help with anything."

Sylus frowned. "Louis, isn't having me as your only friend enough?"

There it was, exactly that. Meanwhile, 666 was still lost in delusions: "My lord, Sylus cares about you so much—look at his expression, please don't make him sad!"

"Whose side are you on?" Louis said coldly.

666 quickly backtracked: "Right, Sylus is so annoying! A heart has many rooms, how could it hold just one person? It's perfectly normal for you to have three, four, or more, my lord!"

This system was definitely not standard.

Louis looked at Sylus. "I want to go out. Tomorrow I'll head to Zone 10 to visit some friends, alright?"

With a wave of his hand, he left Sylus's office directly.

Sylus narrowed his eyes at Louis's retreating, his gaze deep and unreadable.

That night, Louis was absorbed in his game when suddenly a knock came at the door. Sylus stood outside, holding a bottle of wine. "Care for a drink?"

Louis arched a brow, the lollipop in his mouth tilting up. Tossing his console aside, he nodded. "Of course." After a pause, he grinned, "Do you even know how to drink? Let me tell you, my tolerance is no joke."

Sylus chuckled. "You'll end up losing to me anyway."

Louis sneered but didn't bother replying. He followed Sylus out to the garden.

Moonlight poured down through the open sky—Sylus knew how to enjoy life.

Louis glanced up at the moon overhead, suddenly curious whether Sylus still harbored illusions of love.

He wanted to ask about Sylus's battle with Aboli, but every time he brought it up, Sylus would steer the topic elsewhere.

Watching Sylus pour the wine repeatedly, Louis felt that tonight might finally be a good opportunity.
