Because that's what heroes do

Chapter 14: Chapter 14

A week never felt longer, I had tried to train and grind some skills to pass the time and distract myself, but the moment my mom saw me even try to do something aside from resting she began shouting at me about how important resting was, which I understand, but I need to be prepared.

" How about to start a new hobby? You have been doing nothing but training these months but never pushed yourself to that point, so now I can't let you continue until you are under this roof, understood?"

"But I have hobbies."

" Studying quirks, reading about subjects regarding Ua entrance exam, and training aren't hobbies." She said, piercing me with her stare.

She was right, but what else could I do then?

" Why don't you start drawing? When you were a kid you loved to draw heroes you liked, it's been a while since I last saw you draw."

'Drawing? Now that I think about it I still have to create my hero costume, maybe if I pick up drawing I can design my own and then submit it, drawing also sounds useful if ever were to need to explain a situation but I am unable to speak because of a quirk.'

"You know what Mom, I think you are right." I smiled at her.

"... I sense I might have made a mistake." She said, the end of her lips twitching.

Before she could stop me, I headed to my room and took from under my bed the old papers I used for drawing, and considering one of the first rewards I had obtained from a dungeon.

This was going to be easy.

.

.

.

Flash news, it wasn't going to be easy, sure coping with something was easy, but using your head to imagine a completely new design that no one has ever seen before isn't.

And to prove my point.

---

For using a pencil to draw on a piece of paper: Drawing Lv.1=>5(Dex-based)

For trying to imagine something no one has seen before: Creativity Lv.1=>2(Int-based)

Creativity was a roundabout skill which didn't just focus on drawing, but improved my creativity all around, which explained why it had been so hard to level up.

But not having much to do I continued drawing, what had just started as simply coping online drawing developed into drawing complicated architectural designs, which I copied wrong almost always, into trying to draw people just from memory or descriptions, I was trying to develop my drawing not to be just used for pretty scenarios, but be useful in case I'd need it as a hero, knowing what part of a building falls first, being able to draw the assailant of a victim, or even draw a villain before he could use a mind wiping quirk on you.

It also felt nice to focus on something that didn't stress my body or mind, not too much at least, coping building design using only my bare hands had required such accuracy that I even unlocked a skill that improved it.

But I didn't give up and continued griding my drawing and creativity skills, all the other skill level-ups that came were only a bonus for me, I also tried to paint luckily the skill was still considered like drawing so it didn't unlock any skill.

The night before my supposed transfer to UA, I asked Mom if I could draw her so that I could put her picture on the wall of my new room.

She began crying, and I had to comfort her for 10 minutes before we could start.

Relaxing my fingers, I closed my eyes for a second, letting my mind slip into its focused state, letting my muscles take control over me, I began drawing.

My mom sat on an old red armchair, her clothes weren't old, but they couldn't be called expensive, her body had gotten much better fortunately, the grief that always made her face fill with worry was now relaxed, a small smile on her face, her eyes filled with enough love to turn even the coldest of humans good, her hair looked like a plain where one would lose themself in, she didn't speak, move, or do anything grand, she was a mother that did everything to make her child happy, I pictured just that on the drawing.

2 hours later I presented the drawing to my mom, for a few seconds I thought she didn't like it, but she began crying, which made me feel like she hadn't liked it, the next action made me think otherwise though.

She hugged me, bear mama style, saying how much she loved and cared for me, and that she would never leave me alone.
