Because that's what heroes do

Chapter 11: Chapter 11

3rd POV

They had started like others, having to clock in too early for the worker's tastes, having to deal with the rancid smell of trash in the working area and worst of all, having to deal with a shitty coffee machine.

The only thing that made their day a little better was the arrival of their usual bundle of joy, called Izuku Midorya, honestly the kid was too good for this world, oozing happiness and kindness from every pore, even just looking at him made some of the workers here wish to work harder than they usually did.

The first time he had come they had looked at him strangely, not used to seeing a drop of 60 KG of trash. Then he continued, every single day, every morning, he would arrive, carrying more and more trash, he turned what used to be a trash-covered beach into a now mostly clean all by himself, not once complaining or asking for help, they tried helping, but he fought tooth and nails to stop them, saying something about having to do it himself to prove something.

Seeing the kid turn from a small weak kid to a strong teen ready to face the world made everyone happy, they knew that they were witnessing the birth of something, something beyond a normal hero.

1st POV

" Thanks, kid, we will deal with it from here." Kaze, one of the workers at the landfill, told me after I dropped another wave of waste.

Smiling I say goodbye and run towards the waste once again, finished with my daily dose of cleaning, but today I wouldn't end just with that, because today is Saturday, and god knows I will finish that quest today.

And so, having the last 300 KG of trash, I readied my body, doing some stretches and warming up my muscles for the big cargo.

I stored everything inside my inventory, the workers at the landfill thinking that this was my quirk, and slowly turned towards the landfill, 250 KG were still a lot for my body to handle, but thanks to my stats and the skills I had bled for I was slowly moving, step after step, my body cried for me to stop, to take a pause, to just rest, to show weakness.

' I have had enough of weakness, enough of having to wait for others to help me, if I can do something by myself why should I wait for someone else, why should I care what others say, I am what I am, and I am a Hero.'

My mind went into a trance thanks to Focus, letting me ignore the screaming produced by my body, the words I am a Hero became a mantra that made me remain focused and move forward, sometimes falling to the ground and having to push myself up with the combined weight of 250 KG of trash and my body weight of 80 KG, my arms were exploding because of strain, I was quite sure some veins had popped because of the blood in my clothes, the little sweat that survived my body heat all quickly turned into steam, every breath felt like I inhaled nails, the cold hair doing little to turn my body heat down.

After an unknown amount of time, I had done it, I took a last step, finally getting inside the landfill and removing all the trash from my inventory, my mind had the time to look at a notification before completely shutting off.

My body fell to the ground while the landfill workers rushed to help me, the sound of 300 KG of trash hitting the ground attracted their attention.

To everyone's surprise, an unexpected presence stopped them, like a flash of lightning a man came and landed right next to me, his blonde hair shining like gold, his body sculpted enough to look like a Greek god, and his smile made everyone relax.

" DON'T WORRY CITIZEN, I WILL HELP THIS LITTLE HERO MYSELF."

And that was the last thing I heard before officially fainting letting my body be carried by who knows who.

Opening my eyes, I felt a comfy bed under me, white curtains surrounding me, my mom rested on my side, her hand grabbing mine as if I would be gone if she would have let go for even a second.

' Maybe I went too far with that last wave.'

Feeling the movements of my body my mother sprang up like a spring, in these nine months her body returned to her prime, she became taller and thinner, and she finally looked her age and not older than she should be because of grief and sadness.

" IZUKU" She shouted after hugging me and crying, which only lasted 5 seconds before she started checking my body for any damage and shouting about how stupid I was.

" I am fine, Mom don't worry, I might have overdone it with today's training."

" That's putting it lightly kid." A woman's voice said

Turning towards the voice I saw nothing, until said voice jumped up on my bed, right in front of me was an old woman small enough to look like a gnome, and enough anger to make me feel as scared as when my mom is angry.

" You cracked half of your bones, made some of your veins explode because of the sheer weight you were carrying, several torn muscles, what were you even thinking? From what I heard you don't even have a strength-type quirk to help you"

That made my mother stop at her place, looking at the woman for a second, and waiting for my response.

"... I don't know whatever you have read my file, but just 9 months ago I was quirkless-"

The stare of the old lady softened, that was something I hated, only because I was quirkless you have to see me as weak? Fuck off.

" But then I obtained a quirk, I can store things inside a subspace, but it has a carry limit, so I was still quirkless but with a portable bag."

"That doesn't explain why you did this."

" Because I wanted to prove a point, it's not the quirk that makes the hero, if you are a hero it doesn't matter what type of power you have or don't have, you can just be as useful if not even better than a hero with the strongest quirk in existence."

" You are right." A voice came, a voice I recognized.

" Toshinori I told you to wait outside." The old lady told him.

"Sorry, I just wanted to be sure everything was fine, All Might came rushing with him and I got worried when I recognized who he was."

"ALL MIGHT SAVED ME? WHERE IS HE? CAN I HAVE HIS AUTOGRAPH." That came faster and louder than I thought it would.

"I will try to make you have one." Toshinori, the skeleton man with blond hair that I had met on the beach, said while smiling.

" Thank you," I said once again containing myself.

" Now now, the kid needs some rest, so everyone outside, let him sleep." The old lady, who I only now recognized as being Recovery Girl, said making everyone go outside, herself too.

Finally having some privacy I have a feeling of my body, and everything felt perfectly fine, actually, I felt better then this morning, stronger, and more focused.

Wondering what had happened I opened my status and took a look at my last notifications.

'...OH MY GOD.'
